LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MOTHERFOCKERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

11 - 5 Ben's arm rounds into form around game 6. JuJu earns his new contract with the Steelers. Tomlin continues his string of non-losing seasons. The Steelers make the playoffs, catch fire and we're all drunk as hell as the confetti falls.

* I am pleasantly surprised to see only one 4:30 game. Maybe it's just my perception, but, it seems to me that for some reason our Steelers have had a rough time of it when playing at 4:30 lately.

8-7-1.

This is a schedule that should provide a 10-6 to 12-4 record. I think this season is going to be miserable. I don’t think Ben will make it past game 3, and even if he does, I think it is in likely to matter much. To me, the problem on offense last year was mostly Randy Fichtner. The offense sputtered with Ben in there against the Pats and it never recovered. Most people blame Rudy and Duck, but the truth is, play calling would have helped both immensely. A coach’s job is to put his players in the best position possible to succeed. Ours are either unable or have no idea how to do that. Ben has covered a lot of warts over the years, but now he is 38 and coming off major elbow reconstruction. Coupled with Randy Fichtner it’s not a recipe for success.

Sarge, you normally make practical points, but you called these backup QBs the worst in the league essentially. Now it's Randy Fichtner's fault? And why is Ben not going to make it through game 3? I understand the OC wasn't creative last season, but remember, he was pretty damn good the year before that. I think they even had the best RZ touchdown % in the league.

They were the worst in the league, but Fichtner didn't help them a bit and he could have. If you read through the game threads from last season, I was on Fichtner every single game, so it isn't anything new. Dude has no imagination and seems to have little feel for the game or the talent on the field. Personally, I don't think Ben's arm is gonna hold up over an entire season. Major reconstructive elbow surgery on a 38 year throwing arm isn't something to be excited about. I think he will likely re-injure it at some point during the season. I mean, it's just my opinion, and I hope I'm wrong, but I'm just not drinking this "Ben will better than ever" kool-aid. That is rarely true for 38 year old QB's that haven't had major elbow reconstruction.

Last year Fichner play calling wasn't good. It looked like he wasn't putting his players in favorable situations. It was predictable. I hope he or Matt Canaday can come up with better schemes this year.

You guys have to adjust your records for a 17 game schedule.

Note we have 9 road games and 8 home games.

It's a tough schedule to figure out. I think there are a lot of trap games in the beginning part of the season when we normally are not good under Tomlin. I could easily see 4-4 going into the bye week.

But then, on the other hand, even with 3 home games and 6 road games AFTER the bye week (which is worrisome), I could see us really string together a good run in November and December. There are winnable games there that don't scare me: Cincinnati twice, Buffalo, Jacksonville, Cleveland, Indianapolis, Washington. Even at Dallas (after bye week) and at Baltimore, we should really be ready for and be motivated by that point in the season.

I think 4-4 at bye week. Fans are pissed. Calling for Tomlin's head (like always). Slow start, yada, yada... Then maybe 7-2 or 6-3 after bye week. Should go 10-7 or 11-6. MAYBE 12-5 if we have a good season and they over-achieve. Typical Tomlin. We'll look back and see games in the first half of the year we should have won and they will cost us valuable position in the playoffs but then we'll look in the 2nd half the season and say why couldn't we play this well at the START of the season.

Randy had to deal with a WR and a starting RB/ often banged up-injured, a depleted TE group and two wet behind the ear QBs.. I will wait and see what transpires with BigBen back under center.

I think my son said it right. With even a top 20 qb the Steelers win 11 games last year. Ben doesn't have to be prime of his career good. He just has to be top 15 for them to be serious contenders. The defense is that good and the weapons are plenty on offense. The team travels less than 7000 miles and there are plenty of winnable games on paper.

Week 11 PIT @ Jacksonville Sun. Nov.22 1PM CBS

Week 12 PIT @ Baltimore Thu. Nov.26 8:20PM NBC

Back to back road games 4 days apart? That's kinda messed up.

I'm thinking 11-5 with Ben and no significant injuries. Baltimore, Cleveland, Buffalo, Philly and a couple others will be difficult games if those teams are healthy as well. We won't be able to afford to lose games we should, although, I really don't know if we have any of those right now. If we have no preseason, the first 3 or 4 games of the season could really go in any direction with starters not able to finish the games due to lack of conditioning.

We're playing 16 games this year. Next year is 17. Do we start 7 playoff teams this year?
