The refs are all brothers.

I'm not sure I understand why this was historical or an achievement. The guys do a job. Why is their skin color relevant?
Do we celebrate the first black janitor, chef, mechanic, bus driver, CEO, analyst, foreman, cashier, etc?

If we're going to do this, should we also celebrate the first historical Robert who's not a ***********, numbers-crunching, bean-counting, wet-cardboard-personality *******?

As your best black friend, yes...:smiley-finger001:

This has been an interesting thread so far.
Ribeye for dinner.
Was good to see a group of brothers officiating the game last night. Seeing my folks in positions other than just entertaining on the field is always a good thing.
Think I'll have some Bulleit Rye with the Ribeye.
If the idea that attention was brought to this milestone offends some people .... That's sad.
Maybe top it all off with a little Dutch Apple Pie and ice cream.

I think having people that are performing the job at the highest level is a good thing. I would like to think that is the mindset of people in this country..

Sure, and if they happen to be Black and Blacks take a little pride in that, there's nothing wrong with that either. Other races, ethnicities do it too. Otherwise, we wouldn't have "Italian Pride", "Polish Pride", "Latino Pride", etc. It is what it is.
Hell, it doesn't "COST" me anything when they recognize/highlight the first all female officiating crew. Which, believe me, they will. And as long as it doesn't take anything away from the game, what's the gripe?

No buckeye, not offended. Tired of the claims of racism etc. I didn't make the title of " all brothers". This was the vernacular of the hosts of the radio show. If you're happy about it. I'm happy for you. I'm honestly ready to move past the color of the coach, official, quarterback etc. Imo we need to move past this. In order for racism to go away,. We can't be pointing at the color of a person . Just my opinion. Imo guys like Clarence Thomas should be celebrated if were going to make noise about skin color. There are many counter arguments and rabbit holes to go down with this topic. If it made everyone think about the subject, then awesome.

I get it but what’s the point of it? To say that the people who were hiring officials were racist or sexist in the past but now they aren’t? I guess I’m just not seeing what highlighting something like that is gaining. I guess it’s the league showing that they aren’t racist or sexist... great, I kind of knew that already.

OH, don't get it twisted. The league viewed it as a marketing/public relations ploy. If they could get folks to buy ref's jerseys, they'd have had those ones for sale weeks before the game. lol

I believe the head referee for the game was Jerome Boger and his comments I saw in the pregame show were very good. The guy gets it.

If this was a Coach thread it would of eclipsed 8 pages already........

Fascinating.

But it's not. It has some real conversation, minimal self fellation, and much less angst.

But I'm.sure he will be leased to learn that you're thinking of him,,, a lot.

I, too, am happy that this conversation has been open and honest. This makes me warm and fuzzy.

Wish I had some of that Dutch apple pie right now...
