We don't love Rudy, we hate the irrational and over the top hate for the guy. No one is anointing him Ben's long term replacement but damn he gets trashed on for no real reason.

Rudy gets trashed because he is just a guy, nothing special at all
 
Mason is a serviceable back up. I don't think he's ever going to be the man to replace Ben. But I don't think he's so God awful like some say. Haskins has shown some life and some good things. He had a way higher ceiling than Mason, but he has a ton of work to get to Masons level.

I never once said that Haskins has been doing better. I said the reason I root for Haskins is because I’ve seen enough of Rudy…

It’s the same reason I rooted for Duck. Give me any quarterback that shows me any type of something special on the field…Rudy isn’t just boring he’s just not good…He’s been in plenty of games for me to decide that I don’t like him as a quarterback

I don’t like him as a quarterback and I don’t want him as our quarterback…

After three years I’m still waiting for the dude to change my mind. Your comments will not change my mind he needs to do it on the field. Look at his eyes when he walks on the field and when he’s looking around the field the dude is scared and unsure of himself.

Sorry I like gunslingers as my quarterback…

But he gets trashed like he was the worst player ever. I think he is more than just a guy personally I think he is above average, particularly for what some backups cost. I would rather have him at his salary than some of these other ups at 10 mil a year.
 
i tend to agree that the MR trashing is mostly irrational. He throws a pretty good ball and a really good deep ball. He was dropping dimes way down field in that final game against the clowns last year. He looked really good in his early career until that head shot he took. It may have just taken some time to fully get his confidence back. He is the best pure passer we have had (minus Ben) for a while.

So your point is to give a worse QB the backup position over a better one because you don’t like him. Or is it your feelings that Rudolph looks scared and unsure of himself… I mean those are both tangible things so yeah I guess you’re right. 👌🤯
 
What I see:

Haskins has been really good. Way better than any #3 we have ever had (Dobbs and Duck included). He has the talent to start, and if you're comparing stats to stats with Rudolph vs Haskins, you have to keep in mind that the Washington offense was WAAAAAAY less talented than the Steeler's O that Rudolph was running.

Rudolph has picked up his game this year, and I think its because Haskins is pushing him. He didn't wilt. He didn't become incapable of throwing an accurate ball, like what happened when Rudolph took over #2 from Landry.

If Haskins is re-signed, he will have a year of the playbook under his belt. And to do what he's doing now in his first year is nothing short of impressive. Can he overtake Rudolph? Sure he can. Will he and does he have to? No. Rudolph can play.

This is a win/win. We are going to have 2 talented, starter capable QBs behind Ben this year. The best depth since Leftwich/Batch/Dixon. Good to be deep when you have an awesome roster that is built to compete for a Lombardi this year.
 
I don’t track the rosters of every team’s backups, but I can’t imagine any other team having such good options at the #1, 2 & 3 QB depth chart.

On a side note…when I watch Rudolph, I’m always struck how effortless he makes his throws. His mechanics, his poise, his delivery and accuracy impress me. It’s almost boring to watch. That’s not an endorsement of any sort. I’m not anointing him or even commenting on his ability…only that he looks comfortable doing it.
 
Rudolph is exactly the caliber QB a team gets when they are paying the salaris of a top LB, Safety, and top 10 players in a few other positions. You can’t afford a franchise QB without a HUGE cap space available.

Not here but on the shithole called facebook it is ridiculous to see how both he and Haskins get trashed. I don't understand how and why it has become an either or situation. Why can't we root for both.

Dammit....IAll you peeps keep putting words in my mouth.... NEVER SAID **** ABOUT HASKINS OVER RUDY...

I said RUDY is a scared wussy QB and I want someone, ANYONE but him in at QB....

Dude is a stiff, & plays scared when he gets in the game....And you can quote me on that...

Now I REALLY gotta root for HASKINS to kick *** this week, just so we can go toe to toe...
 
People including me wanted to see what Haskins would do against ones. Now to be fair he didn't have all the ones at his disposal. I'd say the picture wasn't clear last night but clearer. He's number 3. And yes they need three qbs. You are one week from going to the streets if you don't. If I was going to make a Rudolph comparison it would be Neil O'Donnell. Makes safe throws, has to stay ahead of the chains. But that isn't horrible when you have the defense.
 
Anyone suggesting they only keep 2 qbs in covidworld is nuts… keep 3 and stash one in bubblewrap on the practice squad who is only allowed to attend meetings via teleconference lol

Vets can be on the PS per Covid rules. **** at important position you could stash two there if so inclined. And you could protect one per the rules as well.
