Maybe I'll watch Mike Phelps's make history by winning even more medals, the 100-meter dash featuring U. Bolt, and something else, but the rest of the events mean very little to me.

Most Americans can't even name the participants. Yet it gets ratings?

Why? No one cares about 90% of the sports on a yearly basis unless it's the Olympics.

Useless except for Hockey and Curling.

Pro golf in the Olympics will be epic

and maybe someone will drown in water polo this time.....

lots to see in the agony of sports

So pretty much like soccer and the World Cup.

The Olympics are a lot of fun to watch, though I prefer the Winter Olympics. There's just something about athletes who have trained basically their whole lives to win a race by a 0.01 second is a lot of fun to watch.

I usually only watch the winter olympics cause of hockey. Idk, the track & field events are fun to watch

I used to watch them and get into them, but not so much anymore. My favorite moment was this <iframe width="854" height="480" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/RAXg078999g" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Kurt Angle was also another good moment

Other than that I may watch swimming. I cant get into the track and field....

I used to love playing Summer games on my commodore 128 PC though!

I'm ready to make some fencing bets

I like to watch the track events such as the sprints. The basketball tournament could be really good this summer. I can't stand much else, especially swimming and all of the gymnastics.

Count me in for the water polo match between Norway and Brazil. I hear these new underwater 4K cameras are fantastic.

Pro golf in the Olympics will be epic

The top 4 golfers in the world (Day, McIlroy, Spieth, DJ) opted not to play. Many other big names are also opting out. All are citing the Zika virus, but I think security is a major factor in all of their decision.

Just a flat out stupid decision the have the Olympics there to begin with.

Remember Wide World of Sports - the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat? I watch for the agony of defeat, particularly gymnasts who have epic wipe-outs. Remember this guy? Just awesome...

I also really like it when the chicks face-plant after missing the high bar.

I'll watch a little soccer because I think crazy *** Hope Solo is hot.

I wonder if they're going to show all the used condoms and syringes floating around in the AIDS water of Rio.

Don't forget about old couches and dead bodies too. I wouldn't go there if someone gave me a free ticket. Brazil is a dump.

I just can't get into the summer Olympics much. I find the winter sports to be much more exciting.

Brazilian police arrest 10 people in ISIS plan for attack at Olympics

Brazil's federal police today arrested 10 people and smashed a network allied to ISIS that was preparing 'acts of terrorism' at next month's Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

President Michel Temer has called an emergency cabinet meeting and Justice Minister Alexandre de Moraes said the operation spanned nine states across Brazil, although the arrests were made in the southern states of Sao Paulo and Parana.

A court in Parana said there were indications the group was planning to use weapons to launch attacks similar to the Paris atrocities in November last year.

Will Obama be attending?

I don't give two *****.

That is part of the problem. Appratelty the Olympic village is full of plumbing issues among other things. The Athletes do not want to stay there.

I hear something like t 450,000 condoms will be distributed during the Rio de Janeiro Olympics. So if the sports suck, at the odds are those looking will get laid, and this includes the athletes seem pretty good.

Read this article and wonder how in the hell Rio was awarded the games. The entire olympic committee should be fired immediately. Now it's going to be fun to watch the water events and look for dead bodies and know that they are literally competing in ****.

Real Sports on HBO had a full hour devoted to the Olympics scandals.

Brazil bulldozed an area were 80,000 people where living and used police to remove those who didn't take the money to move out. They also cut healthcare and education big time.

Poor nations should NEVER be hosts.

Going for Gold: USWNT Olympic Preview

Last summer, the whole nation cheered for the USWNT as they won the Women’s World Cup in Canada. This summer, the team looks to make history in Brazil by being the first women’s team to follow up a World Cup victory with an Olympic Gold Medal. The USWNT have brought home gold at the last three Olympics (2004, 2008, 2012) but they’re not a lock to repeat. Here’s what you can expect from the team in the upcoming weeks......

Audiences Puzzled by US Athletes Apparently Wearing Uniforms With Russian Flag

The new US national Olympic team’s opening ceremony uniform design raised quite a few eyebrows around the world because some of its components bear a striking resemblance to the Russian flag.

On July 29 Ralph Lauren and the United States Olympic Committee proudly unveiled the design of the US team’s 2016 Opening Ceremony uniforms.

But while many people rushed to praise the stylish look of the new garments, others were quick to point out one very strange detail – the fact that the color pattern of athletes’ striped T-shirts sticking out of their buttoned-up blazers clearly resembles the Russian national flag.
