The Offseason is On now!

that Tuitt situation, as well as Shazier's were really tragic

Not to sound too insensitive but many of us deal with an untimely death of a loved one. I speak from experience having lost a 23 year old brother to a drunk driver. Untimely deaths are a very unfortunate fact of life, some of us don’t get paid for years as we get caught up in our feelings and have to move on…others get paid millions. I’m glad his dead money is off the books…or should he still be clocking millions every year?

Tragic, sure…also don’t think a guy should be making millions (or even my much lower wage rate) to get caught up in his feelings.

Shazier I can see paying as it was the job (and poor tackling technique) that ruined his ability to work, Tuitt was just sucking off the teet for a couple years tho. Not my money tho so I guess if you can dupe your employer into continuing to pay you for not working why not?

Even QB needy teams probably don't see him as a certain starter like Geno Smith was for Seattle. Smith earned that contract with his play. I'm not sure Fields has played at a $20 million level yet.
$20m a year? If so, that's LOW. Even Smith is getting $25m per. If Fields signs for 20m per, he would still be the lowest paid non rookie starter. It's chump change for a starter. And with the cap taking another big jump this year, the contracts are just going to keep getting outrageous for fringe players.

So...Combine starts TODAY, FA next week!! Who is ready to be disappointed?!

How more disappointed can we be? If we **** up more then we have a higher pick next season and Tomlin gets closer to leaving, if we have a good draft/ fa then by pure talent we can overcome the lack of coaching. There's nowhere to go but up either way, in the expectations scale.

The Groundhog Day expectations scale is a flat line, no vertical activity whatsoever ____________

9-8 here we come!!!!

Really depends on who they sign to play QB for us lol. Wilson, Rodgers, Cousins...All of those would leave me very disappointed.

DK Sports and others have estimated his FA value at 15mil………….

I think 17-25mil 2/4yrs with 55-70% guarantee is what it will take.

Make no mistake, Justin Fields is the ONLY quarterback out there that will fit the Steelers need and desire for this offense.

Some here act like OH’ , we can just sign Russ or Stafford or __________ (insert name here ). Remember that those older QBs are not going to be able to change their play style. The money teams pay is for the package they’ve seen these guys play their entire career. Asking them to suddenly change is like teaching the old dog a new trick, close but no cigar.

There just isn’t anything out there better than Fields at this point. Sign / draft a rookie…… how many years of set back before he can play right NOW.

Remember that Justin was trending up in his playability. He was taking steps forward. Also remember Russ can’t extend plays like he use to. He scrambles into problems and fumbles from being hit.

The Steelers have painted a corner once again, and with as much practice of this scenario you’d think they would know better. Hand- cuffed and must sign Justin Fields.

I think their estimation is low, and it's not based on the QB market, or what's available in the draft. But I do think you're right, in that Fields is the only answer to how they want to play. You might be able to make an excuse for Daniel Jones, he's not as mobile as Fields, but he is mobile. But if they trade for Stafford, they will have to change their thought process, or maybe Stafford goes all Ben on them and in the 4th just does his own thing to get the W.

The issue with the lowball estimations of Fields potential worth is:
A. He went 4-2 last season
B. There is nobody with his skillset available
C. Hurts just became the first qb to rush that much and win a super bowl... meaning there will be copycats
D. The cap and qb market has inflated significantly since some of the previous Prove it deals were signed...I think anything under 25 mil on a multiyear would be a steal.. I doubt a one year goes under 20

I thought they were very low also, and taking in the cap increase for consideration as well.

Stafford may TRY to go all Ben, but he won't have the success that Ben had in doing so. my 15 cents

So...Combine starts TODAY, FA next week!! Who is ready to be disappointed?!
Disappointment will come two fold.

1. We know Mike is safe for now subsequently that means the team is guaranteed to come short on expectations. I didn’t stutter step. Even in the SB you could not be faulted thinking the refs hungry hippo helped the Chiefs all season so they were surely going to three-peat right? So there might have been some wavering on who to bet for. They tried to sway early but dominance is hard to overcome hard to tilt in a team they favor.

Not here not with the Steelers. Mark it in permanent marker regardless of what the team does in free agency and the draft they will still trot out narrow minded thinking, broken schemes, and the inability to X and O in crunch time. In fact if there was a way to bet every penny of your life savings and to place it on the Steelers not winning the SB this year? I would say go collect your free money. But not even Vegas is that misguided to even let that bet take place. So here is your 1st phase of disappointment realization that it won’t get as good as it once was. Not at all not even a little bit.

2. The second phase of realization will come when the Steelers start out not having to be highly mathematically competent that might give you some false hopes and dreams if dominos fall on Ws. Oh they are winning yay. If you allow that to sway you that is. But the second phase will actually be when your expectations meet reality.

Regardless of what those expectations are. Reality will be toward the second half of the season when teams that can competently X and O, start throwing the ability at the Steelers and Mike, “ I wear my sunglasses regardless of how cloudy it is out,so you can’t so you can’t t t t see what confusion really looks like despite throwing those $5 cliches your way.”

Losses will start to pile up, after the meltdowns it will be said how the players just need to perform better in route to another season playoff winless. If they are “lucky” to even get that far.

Disappointment is a cake and you will eat it two.

Last season was start fast, finish weak... its the " start ****** and finish strong's turn

We will be like 5-6 and finish 10-7 and thus hope for 2026 will be stoked... only to see us start fast and totally fade down the stretch...

Its every other year... its been like that a while now

The finish strong part is short lived tho, when we get blown out in the playoffs.
