The Official Thread Dedicated to "Trump Winning"

How ya'll feeling about The Donald cozying up to Dems on debt ceiling et al? GOP leadership seems taken aback by Trump's sudden shift. This shouldn't come as a shock to anyone. Trump is a turncoat and blows in the wind.

I don't think he's a turncoat, he just wants to get things done. I think it was a good message to send to McConnell and Ryan. Besides, it's not like the GOP didn't cave on the debt ceiling every other time anyway.

Ending voter fraud is going to doom the Dems for a long, long time. Trump's landslide win should have been even larger.

and the Dems are in all out bloody war with each other, now they're telling the Bernie bots to sit down and STFU!

Bernie backers' attacks on Democrats infuriate the party

Prominent Democrats are increasingly riled by attacks from Bernie Sanders' supporters, whose demands for ideological purity are hurting the party ahead of the 2018 midterms and 2020 presidential election, they say.

They’re tired of what they see as the senator’s hesitance to confront his own backers, either in public or through back channels.

Tensions boiled over recently when a handful of Sanders loyalists bashed freshman Sen. Kamala Harris — a rising star in the party and potential 2020 hopeful — as an establishment tool. Democrats were also rankled that other prominent Sanders allies said support for single-payer health care should be a litmus test for candidates.

In response, Democratic senators and outside groups have begun telling Sanders and friendly intermediaries that if he wants to be a leading figure for Democrats ahead of 2020’s presidential election, he needs to get his supporters in line — or at least publicly disavow their more incendiary statements.

We have four parties and the old-school democrats and old-school republicans are losing out share/importance and they are all crying in their beers.

Race Democrats
Euro-Socialist Progressive
Nationalist/Populist Conservative
Anti-Federalist/Social Ideology/Religious Republican

Bernie Sanders: "The Democratic party is an absolute failure"

Bernie Sanders lambasts 'absolute failure' of Democratic party's strategy.

Vermont senator hails successes of progressive agenda but says establishment Democrats stand in the way of further gains.

"The current model and the current strategy of the Democratic party is an absolute failure,” Sanders said.

“The Democratic party needs fundamental change. What it needs is to open up its doors to working people, and young people, and older people who are prepared to fight for social and economic justice.

“The Democratic party must understand what side it is on. And that cannot be the side of Wall Street, or the fossil fuel industry, or the drug companies.”

Sanders’s speech was rapturously received at the People’s Summit, a gathering of some of the most influential progressive activists and organizations in the country.

Beat me to it. I think he's playing the game right. One side won't help him, so he goes opposite to get something done.

Investigation into Clinton lawyers accused of deleting emails is ordered

A Maryland county judge has ordered the state bar to investigate three lawyers accused of deleting thousands of Hillary Clinton's emails.

Circuit Judge Paul F. Harris Jr. ruled Monday that the Attorney Grievance Commission and Office of Bar Counsel Maryland Office of Bar Counsel must look into complaints against Cheryl Mills, Heather Samuelson and David E. Kendall, citing "allegations of destroying evidence,” according to the Washington Times.

The ruling came after Ty Clevenger, an attorney in New York City, filed the complaint. He recently was denied files from the FBI related to Clinton’s email investigation, due to what the bureau called a lack of public interest.

Clevenger argued that the lawyers should be investigated for wrongdoing by destroying evidence, The Baltimore Sun reported.

Harris said Clevenger’s appeal to have the lawyers investigated “appears to have merit,” the Times reported.

Clevenger is looking to prove Clinton committed perjury, the Times reported. He said he was writing a book about political corruption -- and has lobbed accusations against both Republicans and Democrats.

Texas prof resigns from law firm after tweeting he'd be 'ok' with DeVos sexual assault

A Texas professor and lawyer reportedly has resigned from his firm after tweeting that he’d be “ok” with Education Secretary Betsy DeVos being sexually assaulted.

Robert Ranco had posted a tweet late last week saying, “I’m not wishing for it… but I’d be ok if #BetsyDevos was sexually assaulted.”

The tweet was one of several criticizing DeVos for moving to overhaul how Title IX rules are applied to campus sex assault cases. DeVos claims those rules have led to improper investigations, though Ranco alleged she was making the world more dangerous for girls.

Ranco’s account and the tweet itself have since been taken down.

As reported by Campus Reform, Ranco is an adjunct professor of paralegal studies at Austin Community College and part of the Carlson Law Firm.

But according to Fox 7 in Austin, the firm’s founder Craig Carlson has announced Ranco’s resignation – after a Twitter backlash.

“I wasn’t going to make a rash decision about a member of this family just to appease people on social media. That said, I considered the health of everyone in our organization, promised my partners and my employees that we would act according to the values of our firm, and sat down to speak with Mr. Ranco,” he said in a statement, according to Fox 7.

Carlson said they concluded that “even expressing apathy towards sexual assault is [an] affront to all victims and a line that simply cannot be uncrossed.”

He said Ranco “is taking full responsibility and choosing to resign.”

Liberal Officials Flee Trump Administration Due To Conservative Agenda

A number of Department of Justice (DOJ) lawyers appointed by previous administrations have resigned to avoid dismantling the liberal agenda pursued under Barack Obama

Within the Justice Department, several long-serving lawyers have decided to retire or quit rather than help carry out the new policies

“Some of these lawyers also faced the unpalatable task of undoing their work defending Obama-era regulations, such as those on birth control and transgender rights. Rather than help roll back those rules, the officials decided to leave the government”

Waiver issued so construction of border wall can begin

The Department of Homeland Security has issued a waiver to waive certain laws, regulations and other legal requirements to ensure the expeditious construction of barriers in the vicinity of the international border near Calexico, California. The waiver was published in the Federal Register today.

This waiver is pursuant to authority granted to the Secretary of Homeland Security by Congress and covers a variety of environmental, natural resource, and land management laws.

The Department has exercised the waiver authority in Section 102 of the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996 (IIRIRA), as amended, on five previous occasions from 2005 to 2008, as well as exercising this waiver authority earlier this year for a project in the San Diego area, which was announced in August.

This current waiver covers certain border infrastructure projects in the United States Border Patrol's El Centro Sector, a critical sector for border security. In fiscal year 2016 alone, the United States Border Patrol apprehended more than 19,400 undocumented immigrants and seized approximately 2,899 pounds of marijuana and approximately 126 pounds of cocaine in the El Centro Sector.

Supreme Court: Trump admin can keep travel ban on most refugees

Washington (CNN)The Supreme Court granted Tuesday a Trump administration request to continue to bar most refugees under its travel ban.

Without comment, the court blocked a federal appeals court ruling from last week that would have exempted refugees who have a contractual commitment from resettlement organizations from the travel ban while the justices consider its legality. The ruling could impact roughly 24,000 people.

The travel ban bars certain people from Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen from entering the US.

Supreme Court restores Texas Republican-drawn maps

Gorsuch is really looking out for the team that put him there.

In a victory for Republicans, all the Republican members of the Supreme Court joined a pair of orders handed down Tuesday, staying a lower court decision which struck down two Republican-drawn districts. All four of the Court’s Democrats would have denied the stay.

It may very well be true that the Court could affirm the lower court decision in time for the 2020 election, but that will mean that Texas’s 2012, 2014, 2016, and 2018 elections will be run under maps of dubious legality. Should the Supreme Court ultimately conclude that the maps are illegal, Texas will still have been able to use those maps in four of the five elections in this redistricting cycle.

After the 2020 census, Texas is required to draw new maps.

It is likely that, if Senate Republicans had not held a seat on the Supreme Court open for more than a year until a Republican president could fill it, that this stay would not have been granted, and the 2018 election would be run under different maps.

Of course it did. The lower Hawaii court and the 9th circuit court are jokes. It is an embarrassment what is happening to our judicial system under our watch.

What Trump did with this executive order has been constitutional from the get go. Maybe not "executed" well, but absolutely constitutional.

Same thing with that joker DA up in Washington suing over Trump's ability to RESCIND the DACA executive order. Of course that is constitutional. Yet he is probably going to win in that joke of a court system they have up in Washington State, will win in the joke 9th circuit and it will have to go all the way to real judges at the Supreme Court (where it will be overturned like 9-0 or 8-1) before becoming "allowed" (and get very little media coverage when it happens).

How the hell did those courts up there get so ****** up?

And notice how little media coverage is about this? You think they would applaud the correct and legal interpretation of separation of powers, executive powers and the LAW..... but no.

This is what disturbs me most. This division, Left and Right. The Left slowly is growing to hate the Constitution, what it represents, what it stands for. Some outright hate it already and wish it were abolished. Many on this board are headed there or there. They can't give a **** one way or the other if the law is upheld. MOST of them would like to see the laws fundamentally changed or thrown out anyway.

Case in point. After Charlottesville, a wealthy, very successful friend of mine (prior co-worker) commented on a post I made on FB about Charlottesville. Eventually she asked me the simple question - Do you think people should be allowed to say anti-black and anti-Jewish things? And I said yes. An ******* should be allowed to be an ******* because Free Speech is critical. She couldn't believe my response. She literally believes that that hate speech should be outlawed. Many jumped in and asked her questions she had no intelligent response to, like where do you stop? Do you go to jail for saying dego, wop, banana, frog, cracker, hillbilly, dyke, ***, jackass and on and on? Who gets to dictate what is offensive or not? How do you legislate it? And one million trillion other challenges. She said over and over "the courts can figure it out."

She had no plan. No answers. Just wants to see people go to jail for hate speech - but only some hate speech...much hate speech will be allowed, just this hate speech won't be...or something.

Absolutely crazy. More so, scary ****. I mean, literally scary. There are smart people out there that really do want parts of, or the entire Constitution gone.

History does have ways of repeating itself. Despite how intelligent we as a species get, we are destined to repeat the mistakes of our forefathers, over and over and over. Will we ever learn?
