Similar. I got a B.A. in economics as a yute, later went to night school for an MBA so I could teach, which I did part-time for 19 years.
Had a relatively ****ty job in a hospital for ten years but they paid for my MBA and I got vested so I get a whopping $112 a month pension.
In 1995 I opened a franchise of a national service-type company, my dad's idea, which I did for 21 years. After 10 years I opened a second franchise in a neighboring county. The 2008 recession and 8 years of Obamunism crushed my business and I unloaded it at a loss in 2016. It appears that the folks I sold it to are out of business but I'm sure Covid didn't help.
Went back to school part-time in 2013 to be a funeral director. In PA that is a 2-year associates degree, so I basically went two steps backwards and got a lesser degree so I could earn more money. Life is funny.
