The Noll Preseason

...The tie yesterday was really all on Ben. You shouldn't win any NFL game when your QB makes 5 turnovers...Noll had a preseason system that made sense to me. He played starters the 1st quarter in Game 1, a half in Game 2,
3 quarters in game 3 and rested them in game 4. He wanted them close to game shape by the time the season started...

Well reasoned, well written.

How is it that you have 0 rep power points?

Did you call Coolie's favorite college "Cougar High"?

I hope the root cause of Ben’s performance yesterday was not that he is in his 15th NFL season after taking a pounding for about 12 of those 15 years..

I thought the same thing...

It seems like his stinko games are happening more often.

I’ve seen it before with the great ones in my 40 plus years of watching The NFL...

Ben has that “look” of an once great QB whose game is deteriorating quickly due to too many miles under his belt..

It’s obvious to me men...sad to say..

Hope he finds the fountain of youth the rest of the season..

Different ERA, Noll also had two a days and ******* hitting and tackling during PADDED practices. I agree starters need more pre-season as that is now what NOLL'S practices were like then.

Salute the nation

All the more reason why guys should play more in preseason games, because practice has become so soft.

That deteriorating QB put up over 300 yards passing. A number 4 ranking on the weekend.

Let's not confuse a rusty performance with a declining one.

LMAO, this is hilarious stuff.

Look at Rodgers last night, they want build statues of him now, but he held the ball to long and that's why he got hurt(lucky it wasn't an ACL) then he threw a ball that was right to the DB for the bears who dropped it and should've ended the game. It's a very fine line between good games and **** games

Ben’s not close to career ending. He put up 335 yards passing. Was he out of sync for much of the game? Yes! I still think he needs to be working in these pre season games to get his timing in sync. However, he’ll be fine after shaking off the rust in Cleveland, as will AB and JuJu.
Relax gentlemen! My money is still on Ben.

And don’t forget there were other factors contributing to Ben’s performance. I’d say a big one was Big Al’s inability to block Garrett. In Ben’s face all day. Jesse James didn’t help things with the ball going through his hands for an interception.

I do wish Ben would try and get rid of the ball quicker to avoid these hits he took yesterday.

I don’t think Garrett had as big a game as people think. Yeah, he had a few plays but he was blocked on most. One of his sacks was actually a great block by Al. He rode Garrett past the QB exactly as he’s supposed to but Ben held the ball too long and Garrett eventually got him.

if that’s an example of Garrett beating Al, then Dupree had a hall of fame game yesterday

Ben has one really bad game a year. He’ll be fine. Yes he was rusty. Tomlin should have played him a bit more in the pre season.

I think what we saw yesterday was Free Range Ben.

I heard on Pittsburgh radio that when BR attempts 40 or more passes in a game, the Steelers are 17-30-and now 1.

True but very often when he passes a lot it's because they are already behind. Former Coach Chin had a better running game with Bettis and was like 99-1 when taking a lead into the 4th quarter.

I'm wondering if the change in OC's from Haley to Fichtner means there will be fewer reins on BR's gunslinger tendencies.

If so, as we saw yesterday, that might not be a good thing.

Ben might like Fichtner more than Haley, but we'll have to see if it's actually better for him as a player, and for the team.

We said that after the Jacksonville game last year too. Then he was as good as he’s ever been for the rest of the season. Let’s chill on calling Ben’s career already..

Cowher’s record with two TD lead was 108-1-1

Im glad I amuse you...

This is just how it goes my man......

Oh Ben will have that bounce back game occasionally to keep our perceptions fooled and our denials of declining play alive......but these types of stinko games for Ben's pedigree are happening more and more frequently...

Hope Im premature in my analysis...but it is what it is to me..
