The tie yesterday was really all on Ben. You shouldn't win any NFL game when your QB makes 5 turnovers.
In Ben's defense you can't be ready to play the season when you only play about a half in the preseason,
particularly when you have a new running back and new #3 and #4 receivers.

Noll had a preseason system that made sense to me. He played starters the 1st quarter in Game 1, a half in Game 2,
3 quarters in game 3 and rested them in game 4. He wanted them close to game shape by the time the season started.

I thought the defense played a heck of game yesterday considering how much time they were on the field. Outstanding games
from Watt, Davis and Hilton.

You contradicted yourself. You state how Noll played his QBs more, but open up with it is all on Big Ben.

To be accurate it was mostly on Big Ben with Tomlin contribution of playing his franchise QB less.

Pretty nitpicky.

No not at all just pretty accurate.

Because if he played him more in preseason you would have seen a better performance. So the term all isn't accurate pointed at Ben.

Cool Shades is afraid of major injury to his stars especially his franchise QB and I get it but to quote a very unwise man, “you can’t live in your fears”.

Seriously, you shouldn’t take that approach of having them not be more active in pre season with that thought of protection being your concern. Hell, he could have gotten injured the first series of the game yesterday after only playing a few series in the pre season. These are the risks that you take and once again Ben came out out of sync just like last year. And if Bell had shown up last Monday he most likely gets his 35 yards like last year.
James worked through the spring, summer, pre season games and it showed.
Cool Shades continues on his familiar path of being too stubborn to learn from mistakes.

Exactly. I go to training camp every year.

And every ******* year it is the same ****. Bubble wrap Ben. And then the season starts out with hickups every ******* year.

The you have the tunnel vision twatwaffles with oh it's Ben it's Ben only honest!

Get the **** out with that bullshit.

Yep Slash it’s frustrating. I watched early pre season games where Aaron was playing shaking off rust, Brady played a lot in the first preseason game shaking off rust, Matt Ryan, Stafford, all playing early but not Ben.
What the hell did Tomlin think was going to happen? Please, please for the love of God tell me he wasn’t looking at the schedule thinking it was just the Browns and it’s a good game for Ben to shake off rust. The Browns are an improved team and that tie although a loss to many Steeler fans has to give the Browns confidence. Hell, they stood toe to toe with the great Steelers who many predict SB.

He is saying Ben wasn't ready because he didn't play enough in the preseason. I think we all agree at this point.

The announcers pointed out that Ben and AB hardly played in the preseason and never together at the same time.

Can you really say if Ben played in preseason more he would have played better? I guess you can say it doesnt me it is true. Just a horrible game for Ben. Held on to the ball way to long numerous times. Forced it others. And other times players just simply dropped the ball. I will lay most balme on Ben. If he can win games despite of Tomlin I am sure he can lose one or two on his own also.

Connor played a fair bit in the preseason and looked good yesterday. Still, Shades' teams always get off to a slow start, as did Cowher's, plus the weather was awful, so I will withhold judgement for now.

Sure, looking at just the game, you can say Ben was the biggest reason we lost. But, what is the root cause? That goes back to him not playing in the pre-season. A couple of series at pre-season game speed does not get one ready for the regular season, especially at Ben's age. And, couple that with the fact he didn't play any pre-season snaps with AB and you see why AB ran the wrong way on the one INT. Couple that with an O-line that couldn't stop the Clowns pass rush. Then add the fact that Tomlin went ultra-conservative way too early and way too often in the game and you have a recipe for disaster.

If you want to give Ben time off in the pre-season because of his age, fine. But, he still needs to get at least 4 quarters of play in during the pre-season to even hope he is ready to start the season. 2 years in a row, he has been terribly rusty to start the season. If he plays like that again next week, we are 0-2 to start the season. Yes, that tie yesterday is a loss in my book.

Different ERA, Noll also had two a days and ******* hitting and tackling during PADDED practices. I agree starters need more pre-season as that is now what NOLL'S practices were like then.

Today's rules don't let you do that. Except for Belicheat who does it anyway.

I hope the root cause of Ben’s performance yesterday was not that he is in his 15th NFL season after taking a pounding for about 12 of those 15 years..

The rules today that don't let you practice as often, add more credence to why your starters should play more in preseason games.

You can play them longer if I remember correctly, just not as many tackling sessions.

Even then he played very sparingly.

Sharpen that sword peeps !

We were up 21-7 after Ben's 3 INTs. Connors fumble was by far the biggest turnover, it's the only turnover that resulted in points. Ben's first fumble was a bad Pouncey snap, then no one blocked Garrett, how you don't block the other teams most dangerous guy is beyond me, can't blame Ben on that one he was throwing a quick screen and Garrett still got there.
Boz also is a main reason we didn't win, the ball on his foot to win it, he has to make that.

This is in no way saying Ben played a good game, so don't start.
