**** the nfl

The NFL officiating has already released a video to support that **** call.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">The video is an explanation from <a href="https://twitter.com/NFL?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@NFL</a> SVP of Officiating Al Riveron on the reversal at the end of the <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/NEvsPIT?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#NEvsPIT</a> game. <a href="https://t.co/hm5EeoZTER">pic.twitter.com/hm5EeoZTER</a></p>— NFL Football Operations (@NFLFootballOps) <a href="https://twitter.com/NFLFootballOps/status/942559627295764480?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">December 18, 2017</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

He makes THREE interesting assertions. First, he says Roethlisberger completes the pass. Not sure that’s what he meant, but interesting choice of words.

Then, he says after James extends the ball across the goal line, he looses control of the football, then the ball touches the ground. I disagree with both of those claims. Jesse did not lose control of the football. It moves, but he still had control. Second, the ball is allowed to touch the ground, as long as the receiver maintains control of the ball. The evidence is inconclusive as to whether his hands remained under the ball the entire time or not.

Given that the call on the field was a TD, it should have stood.

The purpose of replay was to ensure that blatant calls that could determine the outcome of the game weren’t Missed. I don’t think it was ever intended to put calls under a microscope. This decision today resulted in the very thing that replay was designed to prevent - having games decided by controversial calls.

Good luck getting the NFL to look at this issue objectively though. They seem to relish all the attention they garner by their impulsive and inconsistent decisions.

If the twitter explanation used the term completed the pass, he misspoke. The ball was in his hands, but the pass isn't completed until after he hits the ground with possession. It didn't happen.

You don't misspeak on a controversial call in a game that big and then post it. The fact that he said completed the pass just shows how asinine the rule is.

It was a Freudian slip because he knows the explanation he's been asked to provide is bullshit. Catch and TD. Clear as day.

The fact that the rule is so draconian and complex and senseless such that someone can so easily let "completed" slip off the tongue when describing what happened demonstrates exactly why it was a TD by all forms of logic except the exact letter of the rule

Been watching this stupid game for 47 years. 47 years!!! That was a catch and touchdown if I've ever seen one. They can BS all they want through their lame explanations, I don't care. What a shitshow.

It seems like the officials are BAD every year, but the NFL has some issues and can't afford another hit or ratings will suffer.

I amazed at how many NON-Steelers fans (I know it's hard to imagine there is 1 yet alone more than one) have indicated just that. Several have said they can't believe the "fixed" association of the NFL. In fact so discusting that their viewership is becoming more and more limited. Also indicated if that had been their team they probably would quite watching all together. ON a personal note my viewership has sunken a lot in the last couple years and this will take it to near bottom. On when the STEELERS are out or hoisting #7 I'll be done till next year and that will be very limited. I'd like to just totally quit but a LIFETIME of STEELERS is hard to just cold turkey quit.

Salute the nation

Without Riveron's "help", the Cheaters are 8-6 this season.
There was no error in his speech. The entire purpose of his video was to change a completion ( possession with feet and knee down) into that which would benefit his Cheatriots. We can see this because this season he is 3-0 in supporting the Pats***** with similar plays and differing calls.

Can you imagine how beneficial being 3-0 on those clearly conflicted calls is to the Cheaters, to Las Vegas bookies and to all those ancillary businesses around Kr*ft and M*rsh*?

One league official, in a NEW job, had this incredible record in favor of one team? He will probably be replaced and retire in luxury to the same place that the ball deflating employees and video taping crews have gone.

What a joke.

Wait for the league apology, later, to the Steelers.
