The NFL is doing itself a disservice

Gurley really pissed a few people off, but it was nice to see. He has an easy TD but went down to end the game. If he scored the Rams would have covered the spread.

my youngest brother bet on the Rams covering the spread and has Gurley on his fantasy team...he lost both ways

I've been screaming this for years. I'm not switching to direct and I'm not driving 30 miles to a bar.
I would pay it pay per view even if it was 50 bucks a game.

WTF??? Indiana is that spaced out??? 30 miles to a Steeler bar or is that any bar???

Not sure how much longer the DTV (AT&T) contract is in effect but now that streaming is the way to go, I could see where they could easily sell full games online via NFL Network.

The NFL are idiots on this one. Simple math tells you to open Sunday ticket to at least one other carrier. You will get money from both carriers up front and then, the cost can come down to the fans. The NFL won't lose anything by having the cost come down as there will now be a ton more subscribers. The revenue will actually increase for the NFL and make the fans happier.

Lol...NFL doesn't care about the cost to you.

I go every week that we're not on live TV - Mrs. Bermuda comes but I wear my Cool Shades so I can look anywhere...

Bermuda doesn't like to come to Ark's house because there are ******** there.

The NFL has exclusive contracts and the Direct TV is why there is no streaming now. When this contract expires you can damn well be sure the NFL gets in on streaming and does not leave a single potential dollar on the table. The funny thing is as their product gets worse and worse their income grows substantially, its nice to have a monopoly.

The math shows we usually get 6 prime time games and if you are in a non team market you'll get a couple of games of the week on tv (maybe 4?) without having the DTV package. Now that the piece of **** Chargers moved into the LA tv market they have ****** us in SoCal from getting more "free" games not in prime time.

Going to the sports bar can be anywhere from a $50-$80 outing for food for two plus drinks, tip, etc. Multiply that out by 6 games and you're paying more than what the Sunday ticket package costs going out to bars. If there are more than 6 games not being freely telecast then the cost will obviously rise and be more. I took this in consideration when deciding whether to continue paying for Sunday ticket or going out for games. There's also something nice about being at home and enjoying the game instead of being in a loud *** bar where you can't hear the tvs.

Makes you wonder if, at the time of the contract, the NFL didn't want to spend the $ to do all the upgrades needed to handle the streaming. Over the years, they have, obviously, been updating tech on the sidelines and, in general tech has become better and less expensive. Maybe, the last dtv contract allowed them time to get it all together.

Ive been told that they added storage space so they could add all of the college games to their storage along with hosting more NFL stuff. I dont know how much truth there is to that

The NFL would need to sell ads equal to or greater than the DTV contract amount to make that work for them. Even though UFC has the fight pass streaming service, they still are running PPVs. The tv model is going to be around for a while longer before streaming totally nukes it.

My real point is that, while it seems obvious opening it up to others, there are some Coolies sitting around in NFL offices advising otherwise.

One of the reasons may have been the need to build the infrastructure. Another, maybe big one, is current, regular TV contracts. If the nfl allows other outlets for Sunday Ticket, what does that do to their current ontracts with CBS/Fox.

If you can spend $50 to watch it at home and have buddiesover to share the cost, why travel or go to the games, at all?

The games are mostly selling out. There are some markets that struggle to fill their stadiums but most teams do a good job filling seats. Sunday ticket is all about the out of market fans wanting to watch other games because they follow an out of market team and yes even for the fantasy football dorks who are tracking every game. If you live in your team's market there's no reason to splurge on Sunday ticket.

The tv contracts are extremely lucrative for the NFL. This is where the largest chunk of their money comes from. The networks sell commercials and make that money back, also advertising their own content. The NFL by itself probably wouldn't be able to generate enough ad revenue with just one tv channel to handle what they are bringing in now

30 miles to Louisville ky. That's the closest Steelers bar. I could drive 15 miles to a **** hole bar, but they prolly don't do sports. They just like to fight. I'm getting too old for that ****.

I use to drive from Cocoa Bch to Orlando. 30 min is no big deal to see the Steelers play.

Oh ya, if I enjoyed the bars I would drive it. Just not much into them. The games that aren't on here at least I get to see some of the action on Red Zone.
