The most under rated Steeler?

Yinz just like to pick on the slow learners, that's all. but thanks anyway...LOL

Chip, thank you also for clarifying for some of the uh challenged if you will.

Anyway, I’m pissed at Coach for not posting a glossy of himself as our prize for guessing the mystery Steeler.

2000 to now is not "In 18 years with the Steelers"

Not a lot of choices, this is all I see

Vice President – Arthur J. Rooney, Jr.
Defensive Line – John Mitchell

55 Joey Porter OLB..........."and played" kinda makes this guy ground zero....or not.

if you're including this season, yes, it is.

edit: late to the party, didn't see that someone already clarified.

Colbert could end up in the hall of fame. One more super bowl win during his tenure should do it.

How so? He’s part of the blame of the terrible drafts reported by many on the board including you.

Huh? For the record I thought the Hood, J Jones, Golsen, and Archer picks SUCKED! And hindsight proves those who agreed as correct. Doesn't that suck Ike when people who known enough to bit@h about their team's questionable draft choices piss in your cheerios and are proven correct?

But in a marco sense Colbert drafted many top players such as M. Smith, Hampton, Ben, Troy, Taylor, Starks, Miller, Timmons, Pouncey, Brown, Heyward, Decastro, Bell, Shazier and Tuitt.

Colbert also traded found top rookie free agents such as Parker, or cast offs like Harrison.

Mix in three super bowl appearances during his tenure and I say reserve some wall space in Canton for him.

You have lambasted Colbert and his drafts for years.....called him Tombert and now you are calling him HOF worthy. What changed your mind from April of this year? Here's a quote from one of your "superior" talent evaluation arguments over KC. I warn you, the post was pretty hard on you...since TMC put you in your place. Like he always has.

I welcome all of you to participate in my who I would have drafted instead after the draft concludes. I will write it on Sunday or Monday, picking who I would have selected.

Many years I have done better than Colbert.

Then we can check back in three years, and these rocks you can't see might be diamonds.

You have dead panned Pouncey, and Bell.. Call them easily replaceable. Thought Timmons was no where as good as he was given, but we kept him too long, because he WAS TOMLIN'S first draft pick. We all know about your history with Troy....nuff said about that. Ben was picked because Mr. Rooney felt we couldn't pass on a highly rated QB (Marino regrets), so cooler heads prevailed. So now you are warm and fuzzy for a guy you roasted constantly in the past. Why? To make yourself look better? You going to classify Davis after less than two years of play in which Colbert category? Jarvis/Dri/Ziggy or Cam/DeCastro/Brown?

As for Willie Parker.....you really don't know much about him do you? Dan Rooney Jr. found Willie Parker. Atlantic Coast was his territory, and he had watched Willie before the Butch Davis tenure fiasco at UNC and knew what was there. He did the scouting work and sent it up the chain to KC. They took a flyer on him, because he went un drafted, but DRJ found Parker. KC uses and listens to his scouts and listens to the coaches/coordinators. That's why he's good at what he does. He learned from the best Jack Butler.....yeah that Jack Butler.

For years. FYI my join date is 2015, and if you have a memory I panned the picks that blew up before they did.

Even you could have done better than Colbert in say 2008

2008 1 Rashard Mendenhall
2008 2 Limas Sweed
2008 3 Bruce Davis
2008 4 Tony Hills
2008 5 Dennis Dixon
2008 6 Mike Humpal
2008 6 Ryan Mundy

^^^ A terrible draft.

I pan Pouncey for his off the field stuff, injuries and expensive contract that I do not think he worth. The same for Bell.

Timmons was for 2 years our best player on defense. A very good pick.

As for Davis, it must have been his birthday last Thursday. Thank you Mr. Mariota! I did laugh a bit when he picked him.

Yes I am familiar with Parker, but Rooney jr does not give out camp roster spots, Colbert does.

No one hits them all, I just think Colbert hit more then most and has done it over the long course of 18 years. He should be a hall of fame candidate. Now do you agree, or disagree?

You blew up picks before they did? You mean like Polamalu?

The Draft isn't all science, if it was there would be All Pro's at every major position on the team, on every team. It's a crap shoot when it comes down to parameters. You better get it right in the 1st round and that player better be good for a long time. 2nd round, player should be one that has immediate team impact. 3rd, round player takes some seasoning depending on the position. Everything else is either being shrewed with evaluations or luck. KC has done well. Steelers have done well with their 1st and 2nd, aside from the Alonzo Jacksons,Colcloughs and Sweed. What has made Colbert pretty successful is some of his FA signings. Jeff Hartings, Potsie Farrior, Kimo, Ryan Clark.

Mendenhall was a good pick at the time. His longevity was impacted by his desire to play. Can't fault Colbert on that. He was productive when here, but after the tweeting incident, his fire seemed to dwindle in being a football player. Mundy was a solid Special Teamer when he was here for several years. Can't ask for much more from a late 6th.

You say 2008 was bad, I give you a worse draft.... the year after. Ziggy couldn't fit in as a 5 technique, Wallace, while gave us splash plays was and still is a one trick pony. Lewis disppointed me the most, I was hoping he stay, but he let it be known early he wanted to play near his home state, even though Ike Taylor was there to tell he was better off in Pitt.

I say years, plural. meaning more than a couple. Maybe you are being lumped in with another poster from many years ago with the same name. Late 90's and early 2000s was a gentleman who had your idealogy....Always saying in hindsight your "point" is right, but never giving any proof to it.

In anycase, to answer your question...KC, I think has done a wonderful job with the Steelers. He's from Pittsburgh so he doesn't want to go anywhere and i feel he has done just as good a job as some of the great GMs. But to get in the HOF, you need longevity...a'la Bill Polian, 18 years isn't a long time, by those standards. There are others who are deserving but are still not in. So KC needs more time performing if his legacy is HOF bound.

Edit: You pan on Pouncey's off the field stuff? You mean the Free Hernandez hat issue? He apologized for it. His brother has not. It was part of the UF culture and for all he knew he was protecting his bud. Stupid, but he owned up to it and apologized. Only you would pan a guy who has been injured,. But he has been injured severely twice. He missed 3 (THREE) games in his first 3 years in the league....3 friggin games. Year four in 2014, he tore his ACL because of DeCastro blocked into him. You are panning him for that? His second injury was a broken leg...fibula?....by I think Clinton-Dix during a preseason game. He was supposed to be back, but developed big time infection from the surgery, and then had several more surgeries to help resolve that. You panning him for that? Each year he wasn't injured he has made the pro-bowl, which is somewhat fluff for the skill positions, but not for the linemen and D backers.

His expensive contract....he is a perennial pro-bowler....should be considered All-Pro. Who are better than him and tell me their contract numbers. Yeah it WAS expensive, but now his contract is a bargain for the pivot on the line. DeCastro has a pretty hefty contract.....you feel the need to pan him?

Timmons our best player for 2 years out of 10 years he played in Pitt? He was our best ILB until Shazier was drafted. You are delusional. How many years did he lead the team in tackles?

Davis...lets leave it alone. You have made a mockery of yourself already with him.

And KC gives out camp invites upon recommendations, not roster spots, Tomlin identifies what players are staying on the roster.

Now Coach you will live in infamy with the Troy’s head is too big comment.

I guess that means Troy’s HOF bust will be twice the size of anyone else’s.

No Mendenhall was a bad pick. He was a one year wonder in a spread offense who once quit football in college. You want that? HAHAHAHA.

As for Pouncey, he's not that good. If you watch the last game he got pushed around easily and gave up what looked to be two sacks. He's over paid, and hurt twice but replaced by non names. His off the field incidents include an alleged attach on a 150 pound man ( during his birthday party when he was drunk in a bar ), mocking a fan on his social media, saying I'm rich and you're not and tweeting out his injury status, much to Tomlin's irk. The Free Hernandez thing was disgusting.

Lewis didn't like Tomlin I think and Wallace when he was here was a well worth a 3rd round pick.

Timmons to me a is top 50 all time Steelers. Very good player. A very good first round pick.

At least we agree that KC has been wonderful.

Mendenhall was a bad pick to you, but you have already shown your evaluation acumen is laughable. His first year, Ray Ray broke his shoulder, so his rookie season ended after 4 games. His next 3 years he had 1100, 1200 and almost 1000 yards rushing. In that span he scored 29 TD's. His final year he was hurt...was AWOL on the sidelines for a game, and subsequently suspended by Tomlin. He also had that twitter flap about Bin Laden which didn't help and that was his last year. He played for AZ for one year and quit the game, I think now he is a writer or producer for some TV shows. So he's moved on with his life's work.

But for 3 non-injury seasons he avg, 10 TD's a year and over 1000 yards rushing. Solid numbers for any RB. So your one year wonder analogy is BS.

Pouncey......again, your evaluation process is ridiculous....he's a two time 1st Team All-Pro. .replaced by "non-names" Ferd Velasco and Cody Wallace. With Velasco I don't think we made the playoffs. IN FACT I think you have even said Velasco was a better player. When Wallace started I know we made the playoffs, but he didn't solidify the position.

The other off field incidents?....The "alleged" attack at a bar? That where both brothers were present and NOT CHARGED, but sued by a known money grabber. Yeah lets count that. Mocking a fan on his twitter page....on one occasion....yeah lets count that.....

Kennan Lewis didn't like Tomlin?.....proof please....legitimate source link too not your rag sites. He had always let it known he wanted to be in LA after Katrina...That's why Allen was given a contract, because Lewis was not signing with Pitt.

You state LT a top 50 All Time Steeler but says he was only good for 2 years of the 10 he was here? Do you even read as to what you post? Its nonsense.

And yes we agree on Colbert, credit Mr. Rooney for him too. I just hope that Art 2 can make the same kind of decisions his Dad made. If he can, then we will continue to be one of the top 5 - 10 teams every year.

I wanted Chris Johnson in that draft. Too bad he went with the next pick. Mendy's heart was never in it.

Dead wrong about Pouncey. No one in the league can do what he does. Just like any player on any given play, they can be beat, but he doesn't give up sacks, and he can pull and kill in the second level. Just watch him running with WRs and Bell down the field to set up blocks in the secondary. Dude is a freak.

The rest I don't have an opinion on.
