The head coach search

Flores just got an extension from the Vikings.
Doesn’t preclude him being hired as a HC but one would assume he’s being paid enough to want to stay.
The best explanation I heard was he knows he is getting a HC offer and by doing that he ensured the vikings get two comp third round picks for losing a minority assistant coach to a HC position.. otherwise why would he take a DC job right now when once the HC jobs are filled, there would be a bidding war for his services as DC if he was still a FA

Yeah it disappoints me Klint Kubiak is not on their interview list, I don’t get why.

I know his team is still playing but so is Shula’s and he is on the request list
Klint wasnt a target for some reason.. he does have some red flags they might not want to deal with, i guess

That would be reason enough for me not to pick him. He gets promoted and the team he leaves gets comp picks for it?

Alright, things just took a turn towards ridiculous. There's an article on another site where Baldinger is saying that he's heard the Steelers are really interested in Mario Cristobal. Ugh

I’m starting to get that feeling that the younger guys aren’t going to want the Steelers or the Steelers may drag their feet too long and end up with McCarthy. I would be ok with that as long as it doesn’t mean a Rodgers return (unless he’s backing up Howard but we all know that is no way possible and very laughable). I do like McCarthy with Will Howard and feel that he would bring him along.

I think your brain is starting to be impatiently conjecturing up scenarios.🤭😉

Per Schefter, the Ravens hired Jesse Minter. No surprise there, he was the favorite from the start.
I think Minter is a solid choice he was on my list.

That gives us one less choice but free up the Rams guys. I think we should be their favorite choice given they receive an offer.

Great news for Steelers.

The best HC jobs left are Steelers and Bills, and Bills just went at least a notch down due to effed up owner GM.

What if they already have a verbal agreement and are waiting on Rams this weekend?

“The Giants also checked in on one of John Harbaugh’s long-time AFC North rivals. Sources say a member of Giants ownership reached out to Mike Tomlin shortly after Tomlin stepped down as the Steelers’ head coach on Tuesday. Tomlin reiterated the same thing that he has told everybody else: he does not plan to coach in 2026.” - Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

It was a small window but they did have a window to throw out a virtual. Somewhat concerning they aren’t dotting their i’s and crossing their Ts.

I thought he just didn’t have a lot of confidence that he was going to get a HC offer so he locked up his second option…

When the Steelers didn't bring in Minter for a second interview, it appeared to be a lock he was going to Baltimore. I feel the same thing with the guys interviewing this week. If they don't sign a contract within a couple of days of the interview, I don't think they're getting hired. At this point, I feel confident the Steelers know who they are hiring, they're just going through the process.

Yeah, this is it. Nagy didn't get the Tennessee job and the Chiefs went in a different direction for OC, so he lost out on two potential jobs, Flores wasn't going to do the same thing.

There won't be much overlap in candidates for these jobs either (only Weaver from the list I've seen). While Buffalo could go in a different direction, Brady and Daboll are the favorites.

Maybe. I’m just watching the cards fall right now, I posted that when I heard Minter to the Rats. I know he wasn’t on the Rooney list, but he was on mine.
? Minter had a virtual with the Steelers was “some” interest and he was on their list.

Bills did finish an interview with Lou Anarumo so he is an option for them..
