The Future of Le’Veon Bell

Stupid would be overpaying the man.

No increase of font size could capture that stupidity.

And the Steelers know it. Hence is why they haven't overpaid him.

Pretty sure he is still being tested so we will know if he was

I DON"T think so. He is NOT a member of the nfl currently so the testing rules don't apply. I could be wrong but how could they when he isn't under any contract????
Now the instant he puts pen to paper,.........lord goddell may sprint to be first in line to be holding the cup.

True or not Bell continues to show he isn't prone to making good decisions.

One hiccup away from me calling him a dumb ************.

Listen to him articulate in his interviews...................might be just enough for yaz...........to turn

Salute the nation

Disagree totally....We have a once in a generation running back

no, he's still subject to the collective bargaining agreement unless he retires.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to slashsteel again.

When nothing burgers like Sammy Watkins score 16M a year, I tend to side with paying Bell nearly as much as he wants.

passing league WRs get more.

Why can't people grasp different positions get different ranges of money?

And if one team does something ******* stupid the Steelers should follow suit?

****,

some of yinz

Lemme clarify, I empathize with his position. I'm not paying the money so i don't really care. I bet guys's heads explode when they see people getting insane amounts of money. Especially when, positional or not, you have proven to be a far superior football player.

for me is not what he gets, is what holes can't be filled i nother positions of need to keep A Luxury, yeah I said it, keeping Bell is a luxury when we have other serious needs. The money could be spread between RB and those

He is impacting what the Steelers can spend. Hopefully Ben and Mitchell, etc. will quickly free up some more cash...

I will add one point. I am not on board with the exclusive tag. I personally think if we non-exclusive rights tagged him, the Pats would have made an offer. Bell in that offense would be sickhouse. And the Pats would feature Bell more as a receiver. They draft at the bottom of the round and move draft picks around like chess pieces.
2 low round 1sts could have been a conceivable move to get Bell with Brady and a chance at a ring.

Exclusive tagging Bell made sure the Pats wouldn't have that weapon this year.

I don't think the Pats would be stupid enough to offer him a contract in excess of what we had offered and give up two first round picks to boot. If they offered him a lower contract we could simply match it to keep him. If they had offered him more than we did, I would have been happy to see their salary cap implode. I really did want Bell to explore the open market and find out how much he would be worth given all his baggage.

Not on board Cope? You don't think this board would explode with discontent like it did with Harrison if they used the non-exclusive and lost him to NE? Many would have cried.."Tombert should have used the exclusive to keep him from going to NE!!!! What a bunch of idiots in the FO!!!"

Slash....being devil's advocate here.....Where we not tight against the cap last year under Bell and STILL went after Hightower? Mind you, had we gotten him the Shazier injury would have been less impactful to the Defense IMO.

well if the Pats want him, they should work a trade. they just lost dion lewis.

Not getting Hightower was the best thing that could've happened, would've been horrible having 10 million cap space being eaten up by a thumper ILB in a passing league, I said it then too, I'm so glad we didn't waste money on that guy

The Steelers with Me'veon Bell ranked 20th in the NFL in rushing in 2017 with a poor 3.8 yards per rush, which rated 25th overall.

Most of the playoff teams finished in the top 13th in both categories.

http://www.espn.com/nfl/statistics/team/_/stat/rushing

Bell is overrated. If you say Bell had more yards, I counter by saying give everyone else 50 more carries/catches and he won't.

Then the argument shifts to do you want to overwork you're staring back? I say you should not. It makes him less useful for the playoffs ( cost us in 2016 playoffs with no back up plan, thanks, Tomlin & Haley ), and less valuable for their next contract.

I hope Bell signs; then we trade him.

Why don't you tell the whole story before you go on spouting off.

They were 3rd in passing at 7.7 YPC,
They were 4th in receiving at 11.8 YPC
(Which reminds me, who was 2nd in catches on the team? How many of those catches were for first downs?)
The were 3rd in first downs league wide
15th in 1st downs by rush (3 teams above 15 were not in the playoffs)
4th in 1st downs by pass (the leader wasn't in the playoffs)
2nd in 3rd down completions for 1st downs

Bell has already said he won't sign until right before week one. So no trade would happen until then, at which time his value would be reduced. Not at least there is no viable replacement on the current roster. I bet you would be happy as a kid with candy if they did trade him for a 7th rounder.
