The four main reasons we lost

The Jaguars scored more points than the Steelers.
The Steelers didn’t score as much as the Steelers.

the main reason we lost ... everything else is just bullshit.

2. O
3. D
4. D

Meh, maybe some bone-headed play calls but they still put up 42, which may be the season high. Problem was that Mike Mitchell and Keith Butler's defense allowed 38, plus a pick 6.

42 points should win 99.9% of most playoff games. Giving up 45 will lose you 100% of those games. This isn't Georgia vs Oklahoma. We need a new DC and a **** ton of defensive players.

Not that I’m a fan of Haley or anything, but your opinion is that the offense that scored 42 points is mostly to blame? The blame for this loss falls squarely on the defense..... defensive line in particular. Zero pressure and couldn’t stop the run. The job description for a D-linemen is as follows:
1. Stop the run
2. Get pressure on the quarterback
..... they failed miserably at both.

Not that it matters.... 6 points is 6 points.... but technically it was a fumble 6.

Who’s taking Jaguars seriously?

Sorry, I can’t take that Jacksonville team seriously.

That won’t be the cool thing to say this week, but the Steelers themselves are the ones who need to focus on the Jaguars, not the rest of us. And the rest of us watched that three-hour quagmire Sunday and, at least speaking for myself, I couldn’t stop cringing. Blake Bortles isn’t an NFL quarterback. Leonard Fournette is a fine back but hardly a star. There were no meaningful threats of any kind on offense. And the defense, while dynamic in the secondary, can be beaten by an ordinary NFL offense that’s got some semblance of diversity.

If the Steelers lose in this coming round, they will have lost to the Steelers and no one else.

• Man, this league needs more quality quarterbacks. Imagine being a casual football fan, tuning in that Bills-Jaguars game, reasonably expecting to see two contenders go at it … then watching Bortles and Tyrod Taylor fall all over themselves.

• The Titans have a better shot of winning in Foxborough than the Jaguars have of winning here.

All the defense needed was just one or two key stops.
Jags tore them apart

Actually in the Steeler defense the priority of the DL is to take on the OL so that the linebackers can make plays.
Our linebackers were not making plays. The Fournette jump in the end zone wasn't that hard to stop but Spence went low and
Williams was laying on the ground. If you had a Timmons in there it would have been a 1 yard gain, Steelers ball.

Two fourth and 1s, two really bad play calls. In honesty the second fourth and 1 would have been converted had Ben thrown to Eli, who was wide open.

The onside kick killed it. Had we gotten them off the field we would have had a chance to tie the game.

Not taking the field goal early down 14-0 was a moment of panic. If you want to run you either QB sneak, slam Bell into the line or put in 45 and let him hit someone so Bell can find a crease. Tossing the ball out laterally is as dumb as Atlanta's last play against Philly.

Its looking like many of you will get your wish. Haley almost assuredly will not be back. Butler will likely be back but maybe with a shorter leash. The defensive personnel are not as good as they were hyped to be earlier this year. They never did stop the run all year

Inside LB killed us. Shazier getting injured combined with the fact that Vince Williams was a fringe starter to begin with is probably the biggest reason for the debacle Sunday. Hell I thought Burns and Haden actually did a great job in coverage considering they got ZERO help from a pass rush. RILB, LILB and Safety need upgraded in order to see a difference on D. Otherwise teams will continue to eat us up in the short to mid range passes over the middle. The defense currently has no answer for that as displayed by how many ****** QB's we make look fantastic. We make it easy on them because all they have to do is hit the check down route over the middle and pick up 15 to 20 yards at a time. We don't have anyone in that area that can run with them.

I would think that a super athletic ILB would be top priority on draft day.

I don't understand it. Why the hell would Butler likely be back? This is the FIRST move the Steelers need to make. That defense was downright embarrassing by season's end. They've been falling all over themselves to the most pedestrian of offenses. How is keeping the defensive staff even an OPTION?!
