The entire roster (with some names I didn't know of).

So you consider a reception high of 22 per season "marginally productive," especially coming from a small school? OK, then, hot shot.

Production is the #1 precursor of all possible indicators. Quite telling you don't realize that.

While I appreciate your assiduous obsession, the vast bulk of your replies to my football content is met with your board-devaluing gripes, over and over and over again. Look at all the football content provided in this OP alone, and you chose to ***** like Granny Gibbs, standing in the driveway drinking a ginger ale, with her floppy hat blowing in the wind.

You could have offered insight to any of the following, but you chose to just *****, instead.
I didn't but the writer of your article did. Of course the Steelers like productive players. But scheme plays into that at times that lack of or over inflated due to scheme. And some players are raw, and some are late bloomers. Your bullshit response shows me you have never watched the player in a game. Just blowing bullshit out of your ***. You can throw insults all you want, but you daily create threads with no insight, often followed by tarded *** questions. And then with no clue what you are talking trying to come off as intelligent. Keep licking those windows, and do the board a favor and create threads/ post less.

How about THIS? I THINK his low production (fact) is indicative that he's not going to do anything in the NFL.

If your best season is 22 grabs at Youngstown, you probably aren't going to light up the NFL.

You better pull your pants up; you're double standards are showing.

Football knowledge waved bye bye to you faster than Aunt Irma in the driveway while drinking a ginger ale, wearing her sunday shoes.

and what do you know about his teams offense?

22 catches in 2017 was good for 3rd on the team behind two guys who each caught 32 passes. He had 2 TD catches which tied for 2nd with 3 other guys behind one kid with 4 TD receptions. he accounted for something like 13% of the passing yards and 15% of the receptions. Not too bad for a TE

This was not a high flying passing game.

This is why you can not just look at a kid's stats without knowing what the team as a whole did.

I've never seen the kid play but know enough about football to just not focus on what his raw stats are, You have to look deeper, especially with these small school kids.

and for a reserve TE, I'm more concerned about his blocking ability than his receptions..

Last season Vance McDonald had 50 receptions (out of 362 Steeler receptions or roughly 14%) 610 yards (out of 3697 or 16.5%) and 4 TD (out of 27 receiving TDs or roughly 15%)

seems kind of similar to someone else's percentage of stats....

not that Rader will be called on to catch all that many passes as a backup

Well, as long as we don't have Joey Porter as the OLB coach, just telling guys to 'do it like me', we may actually get some coaching up at that position.

Long over due,.......... The coaching up part !!!!!!!!!!!!! Now being Joey-less that may happen at that position........................................................................ I hope.

I stopped reading after the OP just casually throws out Harrison as the best LB in Steelers history, there was more after that?

What do you expect from a 12year old who NEVER got to watch either JACK play, both Lambert & Ham rank right up there regardless of era.

Sorry DIC, that was meant for Black and Gold Butthole.

See above post #37

Explain to me how the **** you quote someone and then say it was an accident or meant for someone else?? Going by your past posting, I highly doubt you're sincerity.

A-N-D to answer your QUESTION of me being an ******* every ******* day of my pathetic life............. well you're here telling me about pathetic so I'll leave that answer in a mirror.

there is no reason if OLa makes the team and splits PT with Chickello that he cant be be the long term replacement for Bud, size means nothing remember Lloyd was 6"0 230 Deebo 6"0 250 Dumermill 5"11 230 Freeney 6"0 230

I think you meant "height" doesn't mean anything. Those guys aren't small, they just aren't tall, but I agree with you. As a matter of fact, being short and stocky gives pass rushers an advantage, because they have leverage and Ola looks an awful like Debo in the regard. They say in football "He who gets lower wins." It's true. Go Ola.

Willie Parker totally destroys your “low production in college” logic. No other comment necessary.

And a guy by the name of Franco Harris wasn’t even the feature back at Penn State back in the day, it was Lydell Mitchell. One guy had four super bowl rings and a gold jacket and the other guy washed out of the league in a few years.

The guy with the trophy’s and gold jacket his name ain’t Lydell!

Hold on Hurt, Lydell wouldn’t be considered a washout IMO. Played for the Colts for several years then the Bolts for a couple. 3 or 4 one thousand yards seasons and over 110 games. Finished with 6+k yards for career. I remember him being a baller in Baltimore.

Still your point is accurate....Pops logic is...well illogical.

Perhaps I was too harsh on Lydell! You are correct, 6500 career yards and 30 TDS is a nice career and not a wash by any means.
I just remember back in 72 when we drafted him in the first round all the criticism at the time. “The Steelers are idiots for drafting this guy and the should have drafted the feature back in Mitchell or anyone other than Franco”. I got a bit carried away with my comparison between the two in light of Harris’s much better career but Mitchell was solid.

Pops logos is totally screwed that’s for sure. People were bitching when we selected Jack Splat Lambert in the second round out of Kent State. Hell, Jack was solid in college but Kent State wasn’t exactly a power house and there were no combines to measure a guys abilities.
You mentioned Fast Willie who hardly played in college.
Pops been dropped on his head too much.

Could very well be but I think it's a combination of eating to many cheese curls and Twinkies to instead of making him jiggly on the out side it made him jiggly on the inside, mostly between the ears.

Yeah sign of the times I suppose. Lydell was ahead of his time skill wise. He was a threat with passes as well. Led the league with receptions as a RB. I’m remembering Franco was rated higher by Art Rooney Jr because of him being much bigger than Mitchell. Perfect for Chaz’s power fullback scheme. Lydell was definitely faster than Franco, though.

Chuck actually preferred Robert Newhouse or Bill Thomas over Franco in that draft.

Yeah, Chaz really wanted Newhouse, but Art Jr. and the scouts convinced him Franco was who he needed. Glad Thomas wasn’t picked....now he washed out fairly quickly.

So do the Rooneys get credit for drafting Franco similar to them getting credit for drafting Ben, as some here would like to have us think?? ?????

In my opinion, the bottom line is BOTH players ended up on our team and have done wonders for the franchise and that arguement of "WHO" drafted the player is lame at best. Ike, just asking, don't you think that all those involved had input as to who to draft and I don't think any just one person makes the decision. If that were the case this franchise might not be as storied as it is. Thank you for your input.
