Ju Ju has a higher conversion of target to catch ratio, a higher yards per catch ratio, a higher catch to 1st down ratio ( 79.1% of passes caught are first downs ).
We call that a "possession receiver"
See, that guy's job is to run out over the middle, find a spot in the zone and make a catch, knowing he's likely gonna get "walloped". Now these catches are more often than not going to result in a 1st down... And should you avoid that "wallop", well you're going to get yourself a couple yards, but not likely too many. (Unless of course you manage to outrun 3 defenders for a 97 yard TD with a 50 yard YAC... but I digress)
JuJu is a BIG body with some strength and natural positioning skills. As he continues to learn, he'll get even better at this. I liken him to Bolden. (Anquan Bolden. Not sure how he spelled his first name...) That dude was a TRUCK of a receiver and I had nothing but respect for his ability to muscle a catch. Bryant isn't the same kind of guy. He's smoother, he
should be faster and in many ways he's got a great deal more upside in terms of explosive playmaking ability. But Bryant has to focus a great deal because his plays have to be made on slants and outs and he's got to get some separation because he simply doesn't have the strength JuJu has.
Brown, well he's just special, isn't he? He's going to pull a double just about anywhere he goes because he will contest every ball thrown anywhere within 4 yards of his body in any dimension. I think if a ball was thrown 2 yards low he'd start digging. He may have been able to make Kordell look good.
James isn't the pass catcher Miller was in many respects but he can catch and he has some shiftyness. If you don't expect him to necessarily get to the 2nd level, he can do some real damage in the passing game and he's a respectable blocker. Vance? I don't know. I just haven't seen enough of him to get a feel yet for what he can do.
Bell of course is ... well Bell. I don't think he's EVER going to break a 40 yard run, but he's going to break a TON of 10 yard runs. And he's going to wear down the defense all day long. And if Haley didn't hate the Steelers so ******* much, he might even get a couple decent releases out of the backfield for some dump-offs that weren't doomed from the start.
Honestly the VERY BIGGEST factor in the Steelers running a T.O.P. offense is Ben Roethlisberger just being patient. If he's got a guy for an 8 yard gain that's an easy pass and he's got a guy for a 45 yard "
Well, I think maybe I can sqeeeeeeze that in... Ben's going to take the 45 yarder every ******* time and twice on 3rd and 6. If they can just talk him in to taking his time and chilling... I think this offense will begin to destroy other teams. There WILL be more balls to go around and there WILL be more YAC for everyone because the defenses will be more tired over time and Pittsburgh's defense will continue to look better and better because the teams they are facing will become more and more desperate as they have anywhere from 2 to 5 fewer possessions per game to work with due to the Steelers offense eating so much clock.
Again, however it ALL comes down to scoring TD's in the endzone rather than FGs. They've GOT to get that **** ironed out. And that means getting out of the ******* "dork mode" inside the 10 or the 5. That ******* empty backfield drives me insane. "Hey defense, guess what. There is NO ******* MYSTERY WHATSOEVER about what we're gonna do..." I just want to beat my head against the coffee table every time I see that formation inside the 10.
