The Coronavirus thread

1. The President asked Congress to give him power to sanction China due to Covid, the Senate agreed, but as usual the grotesque collection of ugly ***** and morons in the (D)im-led House stopped the legislation.

https://news.yahoo.com/us-senate-threatens-sanctions-china-over-covid-19-220601089.html

2. Of course China should face serious discipline for its murder campaign. Of course.

So when are Beijing Joe and the libs going to act on the legislation that passed the Senate but was tied up in the vile, corrupt House??

3. Finally, are you utterly incapable of researching something? I constantly do your work, cite links, give you information. You disappear for a couple days or weeks after getting the information, never acknowledge the information I gave you, and when you re-appear, often repeat the same stupid, erroneous remarks I have already disproved.

One would think that a rational person would be embarrassed by this. Perhaps I just proved my point.

I often tell the Libs here and on other social media that I'm not doing their homework for them. It's a good way to make them go away.

Horowitz: Comprehensive analysis of 50 states shows greater spread with mask mandates

For months, we've been lectured to by the political elites that cases of coronavirus are spreading too quickly and that we must wear masks to stop the spread. The obvious fault with their act of desperation is that they can no longer mask the fact that most parts of the country have already been fully masked for months — long before the ubiquitous spread this fall.

Researchers at RationalGround.com, a clearinghouse of COVID-19 data trends run by a grassroots group of data analysts, computer scientists, and actuaries, did an analysis of all 50 states divided by those that had mask mandates and those that did not. Justin Hart, co-founder of the website, posted the results in a Twitter thread and shared with me the data analysis:

BREAKING! Do mask mandates work? Our analysis below. We looked at cases on days where mask mandates were in place v… https://t.co/nWbM4P0s1Y
— Justin Hart (@Justin Hart)1608488744.0

They studied the number of cases over a 229-day period from May 1 through Dec. 15 and divided the results of the two study groups by days with mask mandates and days without mask mandates. The non-mandate data group includes both states that never had a mandate and those that did at some point, but data set included only the days they did not have a mask mandate.

The results: When comparing states with mandates vs. those without, or periods of times within a state with a mandate vs. without, there is absolutely no evidence the mask mandate worked to slow the spread one iota. In total, in the states that had a mandate in effect, there were 9,605,256 confirmed COVID cases over 5,907 total days, an average of 27 cases per 100,000 per day. When states did not have a statewide order (which includes the states that never had them and the period of time masking states did not have the mandate in place) there were 5,781,716 cases over 5,772 total days, averaging 17 cases per 100,000 people per day.

The reverse correlation between periods of masking and non-masking is remarkable.

When did the Senate vote on the Covid sanctions on China? I can find where Graham proposed the legislation, but it appears to have gone nowhere.

Everyone knows the virus originated in China, not sure why you think blaming them is a conservative original idea.

The Stimulus bill is out...only around 5600 pages. I like to just jump thru random pages to see what kind of BS they add to these...from just 4 quick pages I found money for a Bison reservation, a section on green house gas research, racetrack building safety and furniture upholstery safety. What a joke. Give it a try.....just read any page and laugh at this joke of a bill.

So I work budget at an Air Force research and development base....DoD funds start on page 250. Looks like the AF is getting $19.2B (thats billions) for aircraft procurement, another $2B for missile procurement, a half a billion for ammo and a last $23B for "other" procurement. That's just the Air Force because we need to get those planes up and running to attack that virus. Money....money for everyone!

Navy and Army get a big $ too.....

Lots of money in there for government salaries and “expenses.” The nation has been fleeced. Again.

When did the Senate vote on the Covid sanctions on China? I can find where Graham proposed the legislation, but it appears to have gone nowhere.

Because the Senate is not the branch that starts the legislative process - the House is. The Senate can, as it did here, propose legislation but if the House pisses on the legislation, it's dead. ALL legislation starts in the House, and then is approved by the Senate. If both chambers agree that a bill is needed but have differing approaches, the bill goes to something called the "conference committee," consisting of both House and Senate members who work out the differences.

How Are Laws Made?

Laws begin as ideas. First, a representative sponsors a bill. The bill is then assigned to a committee for study. If released by the committee, the bill is put on a calendar to be voted on, debated or amended. If the bill passes by simple majority (218 of 435), the bill moves to the Senate. In the Senate, the bill is assigned to another committee and, if released, debated and voted on. Again, a simple majority (51 of 100) passes the bill. Finally, a conference committee made of House and Senate members works out any differences between the House and Senate versions of the bill. The resulting bill returns to the House and Senate for final approval. The Government Printing Office prints the revised bill in a process called enrolling. The President has 10 days to sign or veto the enrolled bill.

https://www.house.gov/the-house-explained/the-legislative-process

Civics ... try to reach the level most of us achieved in 3rd grade. Jesus, they made a cartoon of the process, I would have thought you at least understood the cartoon.

Everyone knows the virus originated in China, not sure why you think blaming them is a conservative original idea.

You are seriously in need of help in your entire world view. It is apparent to me that except for here, this forum, you live in a fictional world where nobody challenges your stupidity and where you think pretend is real and real is fake. Specifically, in this instance and as to the fact that China is going to wind up killing about 2,000,000 people with its virus, find one post on this forum from anybody who is middle of the road to more liberal overall (you, Tibs, Flog, blitzburgh, jitter, even Spike - whoever) critical not of Trump for the Chinese flu but instead critical of CHINA.

One. Go ahead. Find ONE. (In your endeavor, you will find at least five or six from me criticizing China for hiding the fact the disease was contagious human-to-human, lied about the disease, intentionally spread the disease worldwide, intentionally killed untold numbers in the process, but not one from anybody to the left of the group Tibs would label as racist white-supremacist conspiracy theorists.)

Go ahead. One.

P.S. Don't waste your time. Tibs never mentioned China and the virus, Flog licked China's *** like it was an ice cream cone, you said nothing and told us that Trump is a superspreader, blitzburgh filled us in on the latest Trump malfeasance ("He didn't wear a mask!! Ahhhh! What, masks don't do a ******* thing?!? Well, he said it would disappear .... AHHHHHH!!!!!"), jitter would make sure we knew how Trump could have stopped the virus from spreading by using his superpowers but refused to do so because RACISM, and on and on and on and on.

The fact you are completely unaware of the truth about liberals and Trump and the virus simply underscores your lack of legitimate perception. You can credibly argue that you never once - not one ******* time - blamed China for the Chinese virus because CNN, MSNBC, CBS, ABC, NBC, NYT, WaPo, and on and on never blamed China, so why should you?

If you finally admit the prior point, you MAY have achieved some tiny measure of self-awareness on this issue.

Page 3214 of the pdf, page 747 of the bill:

SEC. 1003. ENERGY EFFICIENT DATA CENTERS. Section 453 of the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 (42 U.S.C. 17112) is amended—

Yeah, economic relief from the Chinese flu seems like an excellent time to be amending the law governing "energy efficient data centers."

Whatever the **** those are supposed to be.

(A) Of the funds appropriated under title III and under the heading ‘‘International Narcotics Control and Law Enforcement’’ of this Act, not less than $134,950,000 shall be made available for assistance for Burma: Provided, That such funds may be made available notwithstanding any other provision of law and following consultation with the appropriate congressional committees: Provided further, That such funds shall be made available for programs to promote ethnic and religious tolerance

Yeah, awesome. Americans get $600 (if that - wife and I get nothing basically because the stupid ************* are using 2019 as the qualifying income year) while Burma gets about $135 million for "ethnic and religious tolerance."

Awesome. That'll fix it. Oh, hey, look at this little tidbit:

(c) INDO-PACIFIC STRATEGY AND THE ASIA AREA ASSURANCE INITIATIVE ACT OF 2018.— (1) ASSISTANCE. Of the funds appropriated under titles III and IV of this Act, not less than $1,482,000,000 shall be made available to support implementation of the Indo-Pacific Strategy and the Asia Reassurance Initiative Act of 2018

SWEET! Asia Reassurance and Indo-Pacific Strategy get $1.5 billion! I guess we need to reassure Asia they are free to release yet another ******* pandemic, amirite??

The corruption, dishonesty, thievery, and simple robbery of the American treasury is indescribable.

Bwahahahahaha..........just send me my $600 and leave me the **** alone. Imma leave my descendants the cabin in the woods full of ammo and beans. Let the pink haired he/she's come and get their share.

Horrific. The government needs its credit card cut in half. They would rather destroy millions of lives, so they can blow money on needless bullshit, than let people work.

I think politicians who shut buisness down should have all assets frozen until they open back up. Well they can have 600 bucks. Let's see how quick things turn back on then.

They load this monstrosity with pork and give Americans who are struggling $600? Its almost unbelievable yet this is what they always do. Each transgression defies belief despite previous actions. Its mind-numbing.

Rich get richer.
Poor get poorer.

Politicians. Democrats and republicans are all crooks.

Rich get richer.
Poor get poorer.

Politicians. Democrats and republicans are all crooks.

This is crystal clear. My only desire with politics now is to see them all get washed out. Constitutional term limits. We can label it the political washing machine.

It's a little dream I have. That and cutting our government in half.

Any bill over 10 pages will be rife with pork. This one has close to 6000 pages so yeah there’s a ton of pork.

It's disgusting. Throwing millions of dollars around on bullshit like it's Monopoly money.

This is what you get when you vote for commie democrats. They care about terrorist countries, not America. All of this money was taken from our paychecks.

A year-end spending package meant to provide Americans with economic relief during the Chinese coronavirus crisis includes using United States taxpayer money to fund border security in foreign countries.

As part of the more than 5,590-page spending bill, the deal provides the country of Jordan with “up to $500,000,000” in taxpayer money “to provide assistance to the Government of Jordan to support the armed forces of Jordan and to enhance security along its borders.”

Likewise, the bill gives $250 million in taxpayer money to the countries of Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt, Tunisia, and Oman for “enhanced border security.” Specifically in Lebanon, the bill gives taxpayer money to “secure the borders” of Lebanon.

The bill also spends $700 million in taxpayer money on “assistance” for Sudan and its citizens.

The provisions are coupled with direct relief payments for Americans that are half of the $1,200 originally delivered in the CARES Act passed earlier this year. The bill provides $600 stimulus checks for individuals and $1,200 stimulus checks for couples, as well as additional money for each child a couple has.
