The Coronavirus thread

Good lord man I never said we have more deaths because we have a more elderly population. You made a statement, diverting from the argument, that you thought I said it only killed old people. Stay on track Floggy. Those graphs were given to show you factually it IS killing primarily the elderly.

Back to the weight issue. Are you saying the mildly, moderately and morbidly obese people DO NOT exist in the elderly population???

What you don't seem to get is that by having a 36.2% obesity rate in American v Germany being 22.3% - obesity leads to an EXPONENTIAL potential increase in deaths for the fatter population.

Consider the following:

USA Population: 328.2Million
Germany Population: 83.02Million

USA Obese Population = 328.2Million X 36.2% = 118,808,400 obese people
Germany Obese Population = 82.02Million x 22.3% = 18,513,460 obese people

That means there are 100,294,940 MORE obese people in the USA than Germany. And that obese population is either 60%, 30% or 10% MORE LIKELY to die from COVID than those of normal weight (depending on whether they are mildly, moderately or morbidly obese).

Please tell me you get how this will lead to us having an exponential # of higher deaths....

Nevermind, Floggy don't get numbers good.

Somebody's a lying dog-faced pony soldier.

You losers just won't admit that Trump is murdering billions of Americans with the Covid. My God, look at the mortality rates per capita over the past seven days:

https://www.statista.com/statistics/1104709/coronavirus-deaths-worldwide-per-million-inhabitants/

The United States ranks a pathetic 27th - ******* TIED WITH PANAMA - in the world, behind countries such luminaries as Poland, Hungary, Macedonia, Georgia, Tunisia, Belgium, the Netherlands, Armenia, Slovenia, Columbia, Spain, France and Iran.

Jesus Christ, we trail Macedonia and Tunisia in death rates? Unforgivable that so many Americans are dying from the Chinese flu. ******* Trump is to blame for the ... what's that? The lower the ranking the better?

Never mind.

I know, hence “NOT” in all caps.

Your argument is that diabetes and obesity can explain why the US has such a high death rate compared to other countries, but at the same time you stress that the vast majority of Covid deaths are in the 80+ population. So you’re arguing it’s obese, diabetic 80+ year olds that are dying from Covid.

Leprechauns, unicorns and obese diabetic 80 year olds...

Are you really this stupid, or just pretending? You have to be pretending. Seriously, you have to be. Nobody could possibly be this stupid in real life and manage to stay alive.

Stay....with....me...Floggy....

From the CDC: "The prevalence of obesity was 40.0% among young adults aged 20 to 39 years, 44.8% among middle-aged adults aged 40 to 59 years, and 42.8% among adults aged 60 and older." I may have to up my #s about our obesity ranking....

But stay with me....just a little longer, I promise...

From the CDC: "People, particularly seniors, who have obesity, defined as a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or above, are at higher risk of severe illness from coronavirus disease (COVID-19)."

From the CDC:
People who are OBESE have a higher likelihood of developing the following:
Hypertension
Type 2 diabetes
Heart disease and stroke

From the CDC...."Around 25 percent of those 65 and older have diabetes" - remember our national rate is 10.8%....WebMD says 25% of those hospitalized with COVID had Diabetes....

Now...can you compute....the following?

COVID strikes the elderly far more severely than the young and the overwhelming majority of deaths are in the elderly...
COVID patients who are obese die at a 10%, 30% or 60% higher rate depending on how severe their weight is....and 42.8% of the elderly are obese.
COVID strikes those with diabetes much harder than healthy people...and TWENTY FIVE PERCENT of the elderly have diabetes

Now add it all up Floggy....42.8% of our elderly are overweight, 25% of them have diabetes....and COVID is more lethal for the elderly...

Surely you can't be this dense.....

Wait.

You said "NOT"! As in not all 80+ year-old obese diabetics get Covid, but that all Covid patients may be obesely diabetic, with an age disorder!

That's what your rambling 'retorts' sound like sometimes, you ******* loon. Seek help. Better yet, seek the contributor button first and back-pay this board for all of the nonsense we've had to deal with from you, then go seek that help.

Which renowned scientists? What about the Norwegian scientists who did a wide ranging study showing masks don't work? What about the Cleveland Clinic that showed 97% of COVID is passed via aerosols that cloth and surgical masks can't stop? What about the WHO scientists and doctors that recently said lockdowns are to be avoided and not the means by which you control COVID? What about the CDC scientists that say the virus is 99.99% survivable for those 50 and below?

What scientists do you adhere to?

Only science that says we’re all gonna die without a Joe Biden national mask mandate is acceptable. Duh.

I work with elderly people and FYI there are plenty of overweight diabetic elderly people. You do realize that even among the elderly something like 90-95% survive being infected with covid. It’s almost like the ones that don’t have some serious underlying conditions or something.

I am not sure how numbers are being reported, but at least in my area it is not accurate. A funeral home director was at my place this morning and said he had picked up 10 covid residents from nursing homes that morning. Only 1 death is being listed over 2 days for the county. Seems either homes are lying or not reporting properly.

Wait, if I'm reading your post right, are you saying that they are underreporting?

Jizzer is saying that they are UNDERREPORTING cases.

Yes that is correct at least in my area. That was one funeral home out of about 5 in the area. The county was only reporting 1 death total over 2 days. The numbers are not jiving. In my home the COVID seemed to speed up deaths. People with cancers and what not once they got COVID they were done. They did not have the typical covid symptoms, but still wreaked havoc on their body. Also most were DNR (do not resuscitate) so they were basically just given comfort measures. One lady for example had pancreatic cancer and once she tested positive she died in about a week. I am not 100% sure how the death was reported, but i assume covid was at least mentioned.

Most people with cancer that are receiving Chemo are pretty much done if they get ANY respiratory infection as their white blood cell count is depleted. Hence why they are told to isolate, avoid going outside, wear an approved mask when they do go outside.

She may have died within a week even if she didn't have covid because pancreatic cancer spreads fast and kills most people in short periods of time. I wouldn't have her as a covid death. But somehow states are counting motorcycle accidents as covid deaths as well.

Jizzer is saying that they are UNDERREPORTING cases.

I'm aware.

We have been pointing out, because some in the media have been brave enough to call this out - that reporting numbers are not to be trusted.

There are under counts. There are over counts.

For instance cases - there's enough evidence out there to show that cases are over-reported with one person receiving multiple positives being counted as multiple cases identified.
For instance deaths - there are thousands of cases of Feds and State leaders reporting they count anyone who had COVID and died (regardless if it was a motorcycle crash) as a COVID death.

Reporting is WAY off. Jizzer's right.

So you're saying Covid deaths from nursing homes are being underreported in your state? This sounds like something Cuomo, who basically murdered thousands of people, would be fond of, what state are you in?

Yes pancreatic cancer is one of the most aggressive and the lady had been on and off hospice. She was off hospice and doing alright pre-covid though, but you never know. We had another lady who was lively she would roam the halls with her stuffed animal dogs, but her mind was pretty gone. She tested positive and only seemed to have minor stomach issues. They gave her meds, came back like 20 mins later and she passed away. Just very odd how it is effecting different people.

I live in PA. I know my home is reporting cases because every time we have a few positive cases the department of health shows up. One home in my area had the national guard there so you know the county knew about that. Couple other homes have been in the trib with quotes from the department of health so the county knew about those. The county is close to going red, but I just dont know how the reporting is getting out of whack or who they are trying to fool. Everyone in the healthcare field knows how bad it is in the area now. Homes communicate with each other or the hospitals so its no big secret.

No worries. I know that Spain, Italy, UK, Belgium, Netherlands, France, Slavic nations, United States just cannot slow down a virus despite lockdowns and bankruptcies and masks, but I heard some decrepit old guy hiding in a basement in Delaware has a magic cure.

Not clear why he hasn't already shared it and stood by while more than a million people died, but seems he claims to know how to kill a virus.
