The Coronavirus thread

Interesting development:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Chinese virologist claims she has proof COVID-19 was made in Wuhan lab <a href="https://t.co/4ZpArNYhAc">https://t.co/4ZpArNYhAc</a> <a href="https://t.co/pcdwvEonzs">pic.twitter.com/pcdwvEonzs</a></p>— New York Post (@nypost) <a href="https://twitter.com/nypost/status/1304535784335249408?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">September 11, 2020</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

I knew this months ago. It got buried and minimized.

Democratic lawmakers would have to decide whether they support their party’s governor or whether they want to stand on the principle that led them to support the bill in the first place. If they choose the former, Madonna said, “They are going to have to provide a rationale for why they voted for it but won’t vote to override. Some Democrats who do that will find it’s not inconsistent, and not important enough to fight the governor on.”

The bill grants public and private K-12 schools the authority to decide whether to hold sports and extracurricular activities. Wolf has said he strongly recommends against sports and extracurriculars at least until January due to concerns related to the pandemic. But he has said he won’t issue an order barring sports or extracurriculars.

The legislation requires school officials to establish safety protocols for spectators attending these events. They also would be responsible for setting limits on attendance to ensure social distancing and to comply with guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Considerations for Youth Sports.

..........

“I will vote emphatically in favor of an override if the governor follows through with his veto of HB 2787,” said Rep. Pam Snyder, D-Greene County. “I urged Governor Wolf to increase the capacity for restaurants to 50 percent and will remind him again that our communities around our commonwealth are not the same. Our schools know their situation best. I trust them to be able to manage high school sports safely. These types of decisions regarding school reopening should have happened back in July when our school superintendents were begging for guidance.

I fully expect Wolf to veto this bill. He came out very strongly against it and it simply wouldn't be a good look if he let it go. What I'm concerned about is although he said he wouldn't shut down sports, that was with the 250 limit in place. If schools are allowing more than this, will he change his mind and stop all sports (can he do that)?

As point out in there, safety protocols and attendance limits should've been put in place months ago by the state. Instead, each school had to come up with its own plan yet when it comes to managing spectators at a game, they have to follow the state guidelines that state that the same number of people poses just as much of a threat when spread out in Heinz Field as they would in somebody's small backyard. To my knowledge, I haven't seen any scientific evidence that 250 people is a magic number. Instead, they could've set a 15-25% capacity limit in outdoor venues with mask and physical distancing requirements. A statewide protocol for return to schools and sports could've been the same in terms of health protocols with schools being able to determine the type of hybrid/remote schedule that would work best. I don't think Wolf has done poorly in all areas, but this is one of the most inconsistent.

Masks and social distancing and washing your hands and temperature checks are the keys to "flattening the curve" says Covid-1984 wisdom.

If you protest, you don't have to do any of those four things to "stop the spread."

But, none of those things will work at an outdoor football game unlike an outdoor protest.

But, the entire premise of Covid-1984 and Covid Core Math is that "all... are equal...but some are more equal than others.."

I'm voting for this guy, Donald Rainwater, for Gov. We need to kick out idiot Holcomb. This will be the first time I haven't voted for a Republican Governor. Holcomb has ****** up so badly on everything but especially Covid.

Rainwater says:

We cannot ignore the severity of the economic instability into which the entire State of Indiana is now immersed.

As Governor, I would propose that the Indiana General Assembly pass legislation to ensure that a Governor never has the unilateral power to shut down our economy again. I will not mandate the shutdown of businesses, churches, or schools. I will not mandate the wearing of masks. I will not mandate vaccinations. I will end any such Executive Orders upon taking office. Hoosiers must be well-informed and be allowed to make their own choices as citizens, not subjects.
Every Hoosier business provides the necessities of life to those who depend upon it for their livelihood.

n ruling against the Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf’s order for all “non-life sustaining businesses” to close, U.S. District Judge William S. Stickman IV held that its application had been arbitrary and followed no coherent definition of which businesses where “life sustaining” and which were not.
What’s more, the judge ruled, the administration’s waiver program – which allowed some businesses to reopen despite the closure orders – was applied incoherently and allowed some companies to resume operations even while their competitors in the same industry were denied the same relief.
And while the Wolf Administration has argued that the situation is moot as almost all businesses have been allowed to reopen, Stickman noted that the order issued in March had no end date and that state health officials have warned it could be reinstated as necessary at any time, forcing businesses to close again.
“The court recognizes that defendants were acting in haste to address a public health situation,” Stickman wrote. “But to the extent the defendants were exercising raw governmental authority in a way that could (and did) critically wound or destroy the livelihoods of so many, the people of the Commonwealth at least deserved an objective plan.”

So....what's next? What will this accomplish?

Sports can fill their stands. . High School and college sports can resume. As I understand it. It could have national implications as well. It's time to let people make their own decisions.

Today’s court ruling is limited to the business closure order and the stay at home orders issued in March and were later suspended, as well as the indoor and outdoor gathering limitations. This ruling does not impact any of the other mitigation orders currently in place including, but not limited to the targeted mitigation orders announced in July, mandatory telework, mandatory mask order, worker safety order, and the building safety order," a spokesperson for the governor's office said.

Tucker Carlson is going to have her on his show tomorrow night (Tuesday night). Not sure how legit this woman is, but it should be interesting to watch. I hope he pushes her for some concrete evidence one way or the other.

Huh, look at this ... just like the United States, most of Europe is experiencing a recurrence of the Chinese flu. Broken down per capita, Spain has 279 positive tests per 100k citizens, France 159, UK 53, Italy 32, Germany 22.

All countries which had very serious lockdowns earlier. So I bet that stupid country that had no lockdown earlier, Sweden, is getting just hammered with new cases. Hoo-boy, time to pay the Swedish piper, *******!!!

Yeah, no - 22 cases per 100k residents. Lower than the lockdown countries.

https://www.ecdc.europa.eu/en/cases-2019-ncov-eueea

But, but, but ... DEATHS!! Yeah, that's the ticket - citizens in Sweden are dying like crazy because no ******* lockdowns!!!

Death rates per 100,000 citizens:

Spain 1.6
France 0.5
UK 0.2
Italy 0.2
Germany 0.1
Sweden 0.1

So the country which refused to lock down, which spared its economy, which avoided the massive economic and social costs of a lockdown, and which allowed her citizens to live their lives is escaping the recurrence and has a lower mortality rate than pretty much all of the lockdown countries.

It's almost, ALMOST mind you, like the stupid lockdowns did not work and were a stupid idea. It's almost, ALMOST mind you, like the people who jammed the lockdown down our throats like Kamala on a job interview had a motive completely unrelated to public health.

So....what's next? What will this accomplish?

Additionally in January the state legislature will vote to put an amendment to the state constitution on the primary and general election ballots next year that will limit a governor's emergency orders to 21 days and any extensions would have to be voted on by the legislature. Amendments have to be voted on twice.
Another interesting proposed amendment would elect state supreme court justices by district instead of statewide would should eliminate the preponderance of justices from the Philadelphia area.

**** it. Moving to Sweden.

best post in this thread. I'll join you. Just don't let Burgundy know there are hot, thin, blonde chicks in Sweden. If he knew that some may even have nice racks, he'd try to drive his Ford truck over the Atlantic.

I see Vincent posted the video (or snippet) in post #9116, but did you watch, & what did you think?

I think she says she worked in Chinese labs, knows how the Chinese military sequenced the genome to make it more contagious, knows how the virus genome looks, knows that the virus set loose on the world is a virus engineered in a Chinese lab and knows that we are being lied to by the Chinese about the virus that has killed a million people. She says, "Here is the virus genome, here is what it looks like."

Scientists who know what she is talking about should be able to confirm or deny what she is saying. She has posted the virus' genome information. She says, "Here it is, here's what it looks like." Scientists have to be able to confirm or deny her claim. So far?

This made me laugh out loud for a good 30 seconds. Amusement standards must be extremely low.
