The Coronavirus thread

The virus will not go into home depot either. The home depot near my house will have 300 + people in it at any one time all day on the weekends. It stops and drops dead at the doors.

Churches, schools,libraries and anyplace you can vote? It drips from the ceiling. Very dangerous.
 
anyone else find it mildly amusing that those people who say Trump wants to be a dictator get all mad that Trump won't act like a dictator?

As far as i know states dont have the power to have companies to manufacture whatever, in this case PPE equipment. It does not cost the companies who normally make them more to make a mask, but yet they are charging multiple times the normal cost. They are getting rich while people are not getting what they need This could be regulated in 2 ways. Either increase supply with the defense production act and the large players will be priced out or tell companies they can not charge 4x the normal cost. Of course small businesses and what not are struggling or folding which is horrible. That is a whole different subject than what I am talking about. I do not blame Trump for that, but he could have done a better job in some areas. I just do not get the God worship for Trump?

Dude, I can't stand Trump. He is an *******.

But he has been the best President since Reagan. Does he make mistakes? Yes, look at the power and the podium he gave Fauci. Terrible mistake.

Saying he is the best since Reagan is a very low bar. The Bushes, Slick Willie and Bomma were all very weak. Polite, but freaking weak.

Do you understand that you can not like a person, and separate that from the job they do?

Wrong. Their costs have gone up just as everyone else’s operating costs have as well. So follow me here.

First they must adhere to the PPE requirements themselves where otherwise they had not needed. Cost. They also have a increase in cleaning costs. That would be product and labor to do so. Labor, most places are not operating at 100% capacity so that impacts output. How about things that normally are not in place? Barricades to get “social distance bs” hand sanitizers...etc. not part of normal ops.

Next we move to supplies of said materials needed to make said product. THEY have the same problems. Thus the cost go downstream. See how this is working.

Again this sounds great and I think the vent production was good, but in the real world some PPE stuff is still not readily available. Surgical masks, face shields, and eye protection are pretty easy to come buy, but any type of N95s or surgical gowns are not easy to come buy unless you can wait for at least 1 month and not want to literally pay 6x the cost. Alot of brands are out till Oct sometime and that is if you have a contract w/ companies. Most major companies will not sell PPE to "outsiders" and even then it is on a allocated basis. I was able to score 40 N95 masks but that is my allocated limit for at least a month. On amazon people are charging $120 for 20 N95s which should cost around $20 max. As Trump would say "it is what it is" and we could go round and round. I just hope things go back to semi-normal soon

It's absurd that you blame Trump for this rather than the dems who are extending the lockdowns and panic which only raises the prices and scarcity if the PPE's.

They're making the American people as miserable as possible for as long as they can. That's the entire objective. This emergency power they have extended over the people for months on end isn't over caring.

Just as they've allowed gangs of criminals to do as they please. Defund and dissolve the police is a green light. Chicago is leading in looting. That **** was all planned out. More will follow.

The mask **** is just a distraction. It's actually an aid to thieves now.

Not so long ago banks had signs saying no ball caps or hoodies allowed. Had to laugh the other day when everyone in line at the bank was wearing a mask.

True Americans are resilient and eager to meet any challenge while accepting reasonable risk. The powers-that-be are trying to psychologically break this spirit to pave the way for mandatory vaccines and Digital ID2020, new Socialist social compact and restrictions on civil liberties, and statist control and decimation of small business for the Amazons and Billy Goat Gates of the world.

Yet, that's "conspiracy talk" while "Russia! Russia! is the real existential threat.

it's called supply-demand
more demand for ppe causes a rise in demand for the materials used to make the ppes. it also causes an increase in payout for those making ppes if they are working overtime to make more of these than usual. which causes a price increase - not to say i'm advocating for price gouging (which is a different story altogether and shouldnt be misconstrued). the fact that you got your 40 N95 masks shows you were able to get them. the fact you're whining that you cannot get more show's you're not as socialist as you claim to be.

I look at it this way...worst case scenario, if I get the 'Rona and die then a lot of my problems will be over. And I ain't never been that lucky.

It's getting scary. Certain things about this whole thing have been reminding me of that eerie little independent movie called "Compliance" where people start doing things told to them out of sheer alarm of the potential 'consequences' that may not even be. Movie was based on something that really happened.



I'm not doubting that it's a real virus or anything, just that people in positions of power are exaggerating and using it for nefarious reasons.
 
It's clear that people's wellbeing is not a chief concern. How can you make exceptions for protests? That's proof right that that those in charge KNOW this virus is not as dangerous as they claim. Look at how many of them crammed themselves into a church for that John Lewis funeral. No way they do that if they actually believe they are in danger.

Then you have the Big 10 cancelling football. The kids will still go to classes on campus. They will still be having team meetings and practices. Just no game on Saturday. That's the dumbest thing ever if the reason for cancelling was actually concern for health. It clearly is not. And the kicker is that the Big 10 commissioner's son plays at Miss State and will be playing this year if they do.

This also sums up how liberals think. Everything is geared toward spreading misery, spreading failure, not encouraging success. Most teas want to play. Iowa played their high school baseball season including playoffs, with fans in attendance. No outbreak. Most states have this well under control, and can play. But that can't be allowed. Rural people have to share the misery of big cities. Can't allow individual schools and individual players make their own choices. Liberals will decide for you based on what is best for them, not you.

I hope that America is really seeing this. Seeing how brilliant the Constitution is in guaranteeing freedom. Seeing that people who talk of freedoms and constitutional rights are not kooks. They're just the ones who are truly "Woke". I hope people see what a slippery slope it is when you bend the rules. You are no longer a nation of laws but a nation governed by whims.

I was encouraged recently at a small family get together. Politics is usually not discussed but these days it's unavoidable. There were people who i know vote straight Dem talking about how this is all being done to hurt Trump. It's obvious. I'm hearing them say how they think the Dems do want to crash the economy on purpose. And nobody respected these "protests". Getting lectured and called racist by politicians, athletes and actors is had everybody pissed.

The takeaway message from most was that they may vote Dem usually but they didn't sign up for all this **** and will be voting Trump.
