We have one stud, one who looked okay in his debut, and the Denver back up.

If the best DT's, Pass rushers and DB's are reaches where we pick in rounds 1-3, I think there is a chance for a BPA pick if he's a tackle. There is plenty of depth at the Tackle positon, and unlike DB or Pass Rusher, Tackles pan out high in the draft more often than not.

I think they take one. Have Hawkins from LSU in for a visit today. I'm sure it will be considered.

Not really

What the stats tell us about drafting positions by round

Defensive line ties with running backs and wide receivers for the lowest first round success rate at 58%.

If you want a safe first round pick, OL (83%), LB (70%) and TE (67%) have the lowest "bust" rates.

The numbers show us the following outline for finding consistent starters:

1st Round - OL (83%) LB (70%) TE (67%) DB (64%) QB (63%) WR (58%) RB (58%) DL (58%)

2nd Round - OL (70%) LB (55%) TE (50%) WR (49%) DB (46%) QB (27%) DL (26%) RB (25%)

3rd Round - OL (40%) TE (39%) LB (34%) DL (27%) WR (25%) DB (24%) QB (17%) RB (16%)

4th Round - DL (37%) TE (33%) OL (29%) LB (16%) WR(12%) DB (11%) RB (11%) QB (8%)

5th Round - TE (32%) DB (17%) WR (16%) OL (16%) DL (13%) RB (9%) LB (4%) QB (0%)

6th Round - TE (26%) OL (16%) DL (13%) WR (9%) DB (8%) RB (6%) LB (5%) QB (0%)

7th Round - DB (11%) OL (9%) QB (6%) WR (5%) DL (3%) LB (2%) RB (0%) TE (0%)

What am I missing? Didn't he say tackles pan out high in the draft more often than not? Your stats show OL is more consistent in the first three rounds.

I think coach was talking Offensive tackle and spike is talking defensive tackle. NONE the less, they are having open lines of communication and that's a big step in the right direction. Either way, I'm hoping DEFFENSE 1 & 2, possible OT or BPA in 3

Salute the nation

I would be ok with taking Garnett in 2.

really want round one to be a DE/CB/ or S

There are about 15-18 real round 1 talent worty picks will be , the rest who will get picked are more rnd 2 grades on them, so it is going to be after the middle of the 1st round where teams select players that best fit thier system, as there will be projects and several rotational players selected who will be a year or so from being what you expect from a round 1 pick as in terms of contribution.
Here are the 15-18 bonafide 1st round talents from my view
1 QB Jeff Goff
2 OT Lary Tunsil
3 S Jalen Ramsey
4 QB Carson Wentz
5 DE LB Joey Bosa
6 OLB Myles Jack
7 CB Vernon Hargraves
8 DE Deforest Buckner
9 DT A'Shawn Robinson
10 LB DE Leonard Floyd
11 RB Ezekiel Elliott, RB
12 OT Ronnie Stanley
13 LB Darren Lee
14 G T Jack Conkin
15 DT Jarren Reed
16 DT Andrew Billings

Reaches based on lack of depth in later rounds
1 DT Sheldon Rankins
2 DT Butler 2 down player
3 WR Fuller
4 WR Treadmill
5 Robert Nkemdiche, DE/DT
6 De Ozgbah

that should put our list down to
in order of preference
William Jackson 111
Mckenzkie Alexander
Eli Apple
Paxter Lynxh
Keanu Neal

round 2
CB Xavien Howard
DT/DE Kaufusi I have had him on my board for a month, massive DL that can play inside our outside, Kind of reminds of Carl Davis, both massive wing spans, just shoot into the backfield this kid to blow up plays and offers more than Davis as a pass rusher, could from day 1 in a 4-2-5 have him as the RE.
S Karl Joseph crazy hitter will break batt passes and turn out to be what Shamarko was supposed to be a headache for opposing defenses when roaming around the L.OS and dropping back
S Vonn Bell could be a plug in next year at SS
DT Austin Johnstone

round 3 Here some players to punce if they fall
S CB Jalen Mills
S Jeramy Cash
QB Cardaile Jones
OLB Jordan Jenkins
OLB/DE Carl Nassib
DT Makil Colins

round 4
OLB Kyle Fackrell
S Miles Kilesbrew
DT Hassan Ridgeway
LB Jalon Smith worth the risk if here

round 5
OT Drango
WR Sharpe
ILB Brothers
DE/OLB Ochi

round 6 get a best available KR/PR QB Nate Sulfeld

7 BPA

I would say round 3. Best DB, then best DE/OLB then best DL. If any premier pass rusher with OLB ability drops to us AND no major DB talent does, we should go pass rusher first.

being a G there is a chance he could go three, but to make it to the bottom of three, not so sure.

Pass rushers in this draft is few and far between. If they want a OLBer they might want to pull the trigger 1, other wise the value looks like at CB/DE/SS.

Which is three areas of need.
