The annual predict the Steelers regular-season record.

Don't get me wrong, I think we'll win the division because our division is awful. I just don't have a lot of faith that Shades will win more than one or two playoff games. On the Steeler FB groups the fanboys always say that he's just behind Belicheat in winning percentage and that Hoodie feasts on a weak division too. I get that but the difference is that Hoodie wins playoff games and Shades for the most part does not. Since 2011 the Steelers have only had one bye week (in 2011) and in years when they make it they almost always sneak into the playoffs and rely on help from someone else. Meantime Hoodie gets that bye week almost every year and Shades is usually one-and-done in the wildcard game they backed into.

I'm not disagreeing with that at all. Shades has been the problem the entire time. This is a Ben driven team. But in the playoffs you need coaching. I think they win in the regular season and fall short in the playoffs. But I think they make the playoffs because the team is loaded on offense and is good enough on defense to stay in games.

1. Tomlin could keep his nose out of everything and just look confused on the sideline. Just like he did in 08' when he let everyone do their jobs and he just was along for the ride.
2. If #1 happens then Butler can run his own defense and not Tomlin's 2 DL goal line defense then things maybe better.
3. They have been bad for years but if Boz kicks well this team is in the playoffs last year and probably wins 11 games.

IF they don't win this year then Tomlin should be gone (I know he won't be). You can't let this much talent go to waste forever. He's had the best RB, OL, QB, WRs ETC.. in the league for years and has squandered it.
Butler looks like a muppet with Alzheimer on the sideline. I had given him the benefit of the doubt for a long time and he hasn't shown me anything worth his job yet. The 2 DL front, the CB cushion on 3rd and short, the use of slow LBs in obvious passing situations forcing them to cover WRs, the bad draft picks, it can't be all on Tomlin, he must have a saying. And if he doesn't then he's not the man for the job, do you believe a coach like munchak would let Tomlin **** around with his work?

Tomlin started getting his hands dirty with the defense when LeBeau was here. Which is probably why he left. We know from Tomlin's own mouth that he does some of the play calling. I don't know how to evaluate Butler because I have no idea what he does or what he is responsible for. I know he isn't in charge of personnel and that certain schemes are designed by Tomlin. So I don't know how to judge the guy.

Munchak was a HOF OL and had been an NFL head coach. Butler has moved up the ranks but isn't a known commodity. This is his first time as a DC in the NFL. So no Munchak would tell Tomlin to go pound sand. Butler probably not because he doesn't have the same credentials.

Same thing every year. 19-0........**** the 72 dolphins. There's a new yearly champagne team.

10-6. We will score many points. Unfortunately, I think we will give up many points as well.

I don't see our division as awful and many have it rated as one of the two best. Cleveland has a real chance Baltimore is better than we want to believe Cincy is the new Cleveland. Three teams have legitimate shots at the playoffs. We dont look as good simply because we tend to beat on each other. Unlike the AFC least.

a few ago months i was feeling pretty pessimistic and said 7-9. Well, maybe it's just the passage of time, maybe its seeing the defense playing in the preseason (which doesn't mean more than a hill of beans in the grand scheme of things, but oh, what the hell), maybe it's that it really DOES feel like this team is a family once again with the subtraction of beavis and butthead from the locker room, but i'm going to change my earlier stance of 7-9, to 12-4 at worst, 13-3 at best, and they'll have a first round bye in the playoffs. like vader said, we SHOULD be heads and shoulders above our competition (the browns will probably keep it somewhat competitive in at least one of the games) within the division, and finishing just outside the postseason tournament last year should leave the team with a supreme desire to redeem themselves.

Goddamnit Tombert (and Rooney), there's never been a better time than the present to have a truly remarkable season; do not let this become yet another disappointment.

There are two teams in the division that haven't won a playoff game since Clinton's first term and Bush Senior's term. The rats have no QB in a league dominated by Qbs. This is not a tough division. It use to be a bit tougher when the rats had a QB. But not now. The Steelers have the best offense in the division and easily the best QB. They shouldn't have lost it last year.

Holy run on sentences Batman. I forget what you were correcting another poster on, but you should never.

:bounce:

But damn a 5 game swing from Mr. Pessimist to Mr. Optimist.

That should last you how long to the first loss?

Steelers will go 11-5 this season thanks in part to a revamped Defense and a much improved James Washington.

I'll go 11-5, division champions, make it to the AFC Championship at the least. A lot of good things happening. Influx of good, young talent on defense, locker room cancers are gone, and they're being counted out by most talking heads. That's always a good recipe for a good season.

12-4, and I'm finally excited to watch the Defense this year. There will be more turnovers, and we have the best front 7 in football. DBs should feast this season. Can't wait!!

Tomlin will not change. He is who he is and is much too arrogant to change. He will continue to meddle in the defense although there will be slight improvement, but not nearly enough. Bush is a rookie who will make rookie mistakes but will eventually turn out to be a solid pick. Dupree is who he is and won’t sniff double digit sacks. I’m not sold on Steven Nelson and Joe Haden is 31 now.
OL must stay healthy and keep Ben protected. Don’t know what we really have in Moncrief, JWash and Dontae Johnson. Switzer is ok but poor mans Edleman.
Tomlin will do what he does with RBs and run the wheels off JaConn with JaSam and Snell seeing little playing time. I think Boz bounces back and makes some key kicks.
Tomlin will continue to be out-coached by the better coaches. He will make his annual share of head scratching decisions and simply put, cannot make adjustments, he just does not possess that ability. Challenges should be fun too.

My prediction 9-7.

I hope I’m so wrong with my opinions and I would gladly eat crow and admit as much but just don’t have good feeling.

There is no reason this team can't be 12-4. None. Ben gets you 8 by himself. If Boz is better than last year that's 4 more games. I'm not worried about the division. The bungles are bad, clowns aren't as good as people think they are, and the rats can't pass the ball. No reason not to win the division.

Completely agree.

The Steelers look like a 12+ win/division winning/first round bye team based on personnel going into every season and it rarely happens due to a glaring reason that has been discussed to death.

I look at the roster and want to be excited, but I've seen this movie too many times.

9-7

more poor coaching from Tomlin and we still have an unproven WR. a RB group that is a Connor injury away from being one of the worst in the league and way too much hope being put on Baron and Bush. Bush will prove to be what he was at U Of M . a good player not great who is poor in man coverage. is not a tackle machine and gets swept up in the wash. in his 3 years he only had double digit tackles in 3 games in his career with only one coming in the Big 10.he was exposed in the 1st game and 3rd game this preseason ad teams gouged him in the run game running straight at him and he was abused in passing game by slower RBs

If anything, he may be even more emboldened in his intractable ways since the team and public basically absolved him of his repeated failures once the scapegoat was offered up to the mob at the end of the season.

12-4 to 13-3? Um, okay guys whatever you think. 12-4 would be best case in my opinion.

14-2. Crazy talk. Not with these DB’s, Tomlin and Boswell.

IF, you watched the defense, against Tennessee - you would have seen A WHOLE NEW DEFENSE from last year. They're creating apple turnovers and still getting sacks.

I suggest you call your friend, Marsha, and let him know that Sunday night is going to be a rough one for him. And I pray, that Sean Davis can get back on the field for the game---IMO, Kelly is the only 'new liability' on the field...

Wanna a pacifier???
