Louis Riddick supplants Ray Lewis on ESPN’s draft coverage

Posted by Mike Florio on April 14, 2016, 1:38 PM EDT

Two years ago, in his first year with ESPN, Ray Lewis had a spot at the main desk during the first night of the draft. Last year, protests that became riots in Baltimore prompted Lewis to decide at the eleventh to stay there during the draft, opening the door for Louis Riddick to take his place.

This year, Riddick isn’t giving the spot back.

ESPN has announced its lineup for the draft, with Riddick joining Chris Berman, Jon Gruden, and Mel Kiper for round one on Thursday, April 28.

“Riddick made his NFL Draft television debut in 2015 and will appear on ESPN’s main set for the entirety of the event,” ESPN said in a press release.

Lewis isn’t mentioned in the release at all, which lists a total of 19 ESPN personalities. It means that Lewis apparently will have no involvement in the draft for the second straight year. Which will invite plenty of speculation regarding how much longer he’ll be involved with ESPN at all.

Ray is passionate though

If by passionate you mean.......how well and devoted he is to HIDING white suits, he is VERY passionate....!!!!

The @sshole is still getting credit for tackles. He was good, but a lot of his good was bafoon type hype. I'm not joking, rayray was injured and on the sidelines in street cloths yet, Baltimore had given him 9 tackles that game........ GLAD tackles aren't an official stat....

Sounds like Ray lost his sharpness and his edge.

Yeah, but he could still cut to the point, and had a handle on things. He did need to be sharper on occasion, and stick to the point.

They can't get rid of Lewis fast enough, he's awful in front of the camera, at least when I see him post MNF, he is

Bring back Emmitt! I want some fresh new Emmitt-isms, lmao!:rotfl:
If we could vote on this - I'd do it a million times...
Was he any worse than Michael Irvin?
We're talking about Ray on Draft night - not replacing him forever, Pop...

Lol. I know. It was a sarcastic post. Ray Ray is a show boater

say what you will about Ray but he do dress good.

He could be doing a ad for subway and still sound like he is preaching..

Evidently, all that honing didn't help.....

The only thing I will say about Ray-Ray is this:

LOOK OUT HES GOT A KNIFE!

He was terrible as an announcer and an analyst. His delivery was far too thuggish to be appealing. Im glad he is gone.

I want to give some props to Riddick. He is an excellent analyst and is easily one of the best talents ESPN has on its roster.

I agree 100%, i hope we keep seeing more of him. wish they would put him on Sunday Countdown and Monday Countdown

Poor Ray Ray, I see another video on the horizon to tell people how to live their lives.
