I would take a flyer on this guy and see if he could compete with Shamarko.

Texans waived SS D.J. Swearinger.
The 57th overall pick in the 2013 draft, Swearinger wore out his welcome quickly under no-nonsense coach Bill O'Brien, struggling mightily in coverage and often taking bad angles in run defense. The Texans tried trading Swearinger before cutting him, but found no takers, likely because of his bad game tape. Still, Swearinger is only 23 years old and will likely be claimed off waivers

What about him do you like. Sounds like the same reasons everyone wants to cut Mitchell. At least Mitchell knows the defense now and is hopefully healthy. I will pass

So who does this kid look better than right now, because if he does not look better than someone we have bringing him in is just stupid.

He is cheap and a big hitter. Keep him for depth and special teams.

Kyle Arrington released from Patriots...what can it hurt for depth.

The Bucs reportedly "really like" waived SS D.J. Swearinger.
Claims for waivers are due by 4pm ET on Tuesday. The Bucs have the No. 1 priority and they're at least considering it. Swearinger, the No. 57 overall pick in 2013, would at least bring natural talent to a secondary that ranked 28th in pass yards allowed per game last year. The Falcons, holders of the No. 8 waiver priority, are also rumored to have interest.

He sounds like an a-hole to me, and he's not that good. Arrington would be worth looking at though.

Big hitters are a negative now. You need guys who can cover, and tackle. Big hits result in penalties now.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers claim D.J. Swearinger

The Buccaneers are in the midst of a secondary makeover this offseason.

Tampa Bay claimed safety D.J. Swearinger off waivers on Tuesday, the team announced. Swearinger is the latest addition to a revamped secondary that includes former Chicago Bears free safety Chris Conte.

The former Houston Texan will most likely start alongside Conte manning the other safety position.

The 2013 second-round pick played in 32 games the past two seasons, with 22 starts. He totaled 140 tackles, 10 passes defensed and three interceptions with the Texans.

Yet, Houston was willing to let him go after he struggled last year. The Texans were trying to trade the safety prior to his release from the team on Monday. Pro Football Focus ranked him as their No. 78 safety out of 87 eligible at the position in 2014.

His arrival in Tampa will surely encourage opponents to test the Buccaneers' secondary in 2015. Swearinger and the oft-injured Conte won't scare opposing offenses. Both players will have a lot to prove next season and they'll have plenty of opportunity to do so

Depth, plus the "hidden" way to play the game..............

Stigma will follow anyone associated, Unfortunately, with the cheats****,,,,............

Salute the nation

ESPN's Field Yates reports eight teams put in a claim for SS D.J. Swearinger before he was awarded to the Bucs.
Including the Bucs, the Jaguars, Raiders, Jets, Falcons, Bills, Steelers, and Ravens all placed claims. This obviously means little now that Swearinger has landed in Tampa Bay, but it's noteworthy should Swearinger not stick with the Bucs. He doesn't really fit the scheme and could end up back on the streets if he doesn't up his play and learn to adhere to Lovie Smith's Cover-2 system.

I knew we would try and claim him. There were a lot of teams interested.

Inferior ZACKB's personnel suggestions are as compelling as JenZwain's.

I suggested him as depth and because I knew Tomlin liked him. It's pretty easy to see that we would have put a waiver claim in on him. I'm comfortable with my level of football knowledge and stand by most of my ideas. Not sure how I am inferior, or why such a comment would be made.

How did we end up with two Zacks and which one is the best should we need to cut one?

I was here first and I'm not a long lost relative of JenZwain's. I win.

Also willing to fight him if necessary.

Sounds like time for some knock down drag out keyboard mayhem, maybe even dare I say it thumb wrestling.
