Texans agree to terms with Osweiler

Elway has been a great GM for the Broncos and by not overpaying for an untested QB is another great move. You can kill your franchise by giving huge contracts to QBs and hamstring your roster as a result. The Brpncos are built to win on defense and the running game so replacing him is not like replacing a Rodgers or Ben, etc.

It's only a great move if they get a decent QB in return.

In todays NFL mediocre QBs like Fitzgerald and Bortles throw for 31 and 35 TD passes respectively. It is hard NOT to get a mediocre QB that can post great numbers like a Kirk Cousins, etc. I think they will sign a Matt Moore, etc who can thrive in that system while they wait for a better long term answer.

The Broncos won it all with a QB who had bad hips and a neck which had 4 surgeries in recent years.

Obviously, their window is still OPEN, considering that (I find it unlikely they will truly contend, but an argument can be made).

It's a terrible draft for QBs.

Wentz and Goff will be long gone. Lynch is far too raw and not even used to taking ball from behind center. Cook is coming off as unlikeable but if they can get him 3rd round or later they might. Prescott could be their guy. Hackenberg is crap, been saying that all along.

And the only FA QBs had nothing but crap.

I see almost no one worth signing.

How could Denver let this happen?

You think Elway couldn't see paying a relative no one this kind of money compared to what he made?

Maybe they want Tim Tebow?

I'm loving this, as I live in bronco country.

Rumor are for RGIII and Kapernick.

We'll see.

Anyone that ever thinks that the elite QBs get too much can just look at this type of contract. To have one of the best at $20 million per year is a bargain given what Brock got.

If I were Elway, I would strongly consider Fitzpatrick or Gradkowski as a stop gap.

Gradkowski is a bum that hasn't thrown a pass in 3 years, has a horrible completion percentage, a horrible passer rating is small, injury prone and shot. He has never done anything in his NFL career to warrant being a starter.

Osweiller was an upgrade over Manning.

Manning was only in the post-season as a courtesy. If Osweiller had been playing against the Steelers, as much as I hate to say it, the game would have been much uglier. Those 9 drops or whatever were largely due to the ugly ducks that Manning was floating out there. The Bronco receivers HAD been catching balls thrown with some semblance of velocity and accuracy before that.

Nope. It serves them right. Denver pretty much slapped Osweiller in the face for keeping Denver in contention while Manning had an epic failure of a season and completely blew. It's true that the defense was the real story for Denver this year, but hands down Osweiller outplayed Manning this year. In return they benched him and then attempted to lowball him when Manning finally decided to retire.

The Broncos absolutely got what they deserved. Whether or not Osweiller does well elsewhere is unimportant. What matters is that Denver has to scrabble for a QB and they'll have to overpay for a stopgap because they didn't do their business properly when they had the chance. Treat people with respect and generally they'll respect you back.

Did you happen to miss week 15 last season? Guys were dropping Osweiler's passes that game too. What makes you think Osweiler, who we already had beaten, would've caused an even uglier game for us in the playoffs? We beat Osweiler and lost to Manning but Osweiler is the one we wouldn't want to face?

agree they screwed it up with Osw, as I said in another thread
Guess he got really pissed for being benched for the playoffs run

Bet Sanders is regretting that denver move this year... Though im sure the money will comfort him some.....

On the other side of this, I know Osweiler got paid, but that's a stupid decision. Leave Denver, with John Elway at the helm (and that Defense) for ...Houston? Houston has been a nothing franchise since it came into the league...

My take is Houston was a decent quarterback away from being a serious contender. If Houston gives Brock better weapons, they could have Flacco type fo Qb with a decent defense.

Here in Montana, you would think that Jesus Christ himself just gave the Donks the finger.

I'm not an Osweiller fan because he's a Montana kid. That doesn't matter to me. I simply point out that he was better than Manning in pretty much every respect. Did he have a bad game or two? Sure. However, how many picks did Manning have this season before he was finally benched? He was flat out terrible. Yes, the demotion was blamed on an injury and perhaps Peyton really was badly hurt, but there's no way that was the sole issue with him.

He was TERRIBLE this year. The Bronco's offense under Osweiller looked better than it did with Manning and Osweiller has literally about 10 games of starting experience in his life. Given a year or two to learn with actual playing time he could be a fairly decent QB. His footwork is great. He'll probably never be a top tier QB, but he's certainly better than Manning at this point in their respective careers.

I get that you don't want to offend Peyton Manning. It's his farewell tour. I understand that. At the same time, you'd best be talking to the guy you plan to replace Manning with and make sure he's on board with your backup plan and that you don't alienate him.

Looks as thought they didn't go in that direction.

Donks just traded for Mark Sanchez

LOL.
my boss gonna love this. I'll drop this on him when I leave work with "have a great weekend, bossman. btw - y'all replacing Peyton with Sanchez"
