Team speed or Lack thereof

Didn't he lead the team in missed tackles too? And drop more interceptions that he caught? The Steelers rookie of the year often means a player had a chance to play a lot as a rookie and the others didn't. We've had punter win Joe Greene rookie of the year award.

All I ask he stops missing tackles 17+ tackles a season and makes a few plays while surrendering less yardage. Is that too much to ask? His coverage is poor. Davis allows to much space; the receiver catches it, then he closes on the ball.

In all actuality, Atholon's thinks Davis is a lot better than some other magazine and 3rd party rating systems. For example pro football focus has him much further back.

Aw little Ikie is having trouble with the facts again. Dude, if I wanted to push an agenda, I'd list more than two sources on our DB's / Davis. Its funny watching blind homers argue against the consensuses of companies who do this for a living. Most of the time, you dont even know what you're talking about!

For example:

Probably 90% of the league DBs drops more passes than INT caught, you say? PROVE THAT. I'll be waiting and as usualy you'll run and hide, not able to backup your statements. You're wrong. Davis dropped gimme interceptions, catchable balls. Most DB's covert on catchable balls throws their way.

Hey Coach,

I know you don't like Davis, though I have to say his greatest attribute is not on the stat sheet. He's the best player on D that we currently have, at the click and close. Look how far away he is from receivers/ runners, when he closes the distance and makes tackles. It's Polamaluesque. And you know another player at safety that missed a ton of tackles? Polamalu. And he's a first ballot HOFer.

Oh **** when brain meets bullshit.

Will coach have a meltdown?

Will Cope drink a beer in anticipation?

Does anyone know Davis' head size and 40 time?

Holy Nightmare Batman

tune in tomorrow

to the same bat channel

same bat time !

Reminds me of when Faneca lost a shitload of weight soon after retirement. You wonder what they take to maintain that weight if they are so easily shedding pounds soon after hanging it up.

Yeah, I think Alan shed the weight because he was running marathons or Iron Man competitions. But that’s a lot of weight to lose fast. Surely a shock to the body. Any of our physiology specialists have any insight? Cope?

Actually, it is unnatural for the body to carry over 300lbs, and it is terrible for your heart/joints/back. So many lineman now leave the NFL and drop weight. It takes a lot of work to keep that weight on when you're playing. Gone are the days when lineman could play at 250 and compete. You have to overeat to maintain and gain weight. That is bad for your entire body since high fat/processed foods are best for gaining weight, but the worst for your overall health.

Then you're forcing that oversized body to react like a professional athlete. It's like trying to run a race car on regular fuel. You can do it, but it's terribly inefficient and bad for the engine.

I totally respect anyone who decides to be a lineman, because they are shortening their lifespan and longterm physical health, to play football. Though the best thing they can do when they retire to maximize their health, is to cut weight to their optimal BMI.

I think there was an interview where Faneca talked about how hsrd it was to keep that weight on.

I remeber that interview as well. I also remeber him losing a bunch and running in several 10K / road races. He said the forst part of his weight was easy to lose but then got to the point that so many of us get to and found out how hard the remainder was to lose. I didn't like his crying at the end before departure but I still thought highly of him with his honesty of weight lose. Water under the bridge and HOPE the best for him.

I think some players take it personal toward the end. Not realising the powers that be are trying to gather the best roster possible. And it comes down to the team seeing a decline but the player either being in denial or thinking there should be more loyalty when it comes to cutting the cord.

For better or worse it is difficult decisions to make, glad I don't have to make them....
