Tank Year.

Nowhere was I or am I defending Tomlin. He should be fired.

I just am not all that worked up about the players they are losing. These players have failed in big spots, too.

It is just too damn simplistic to look only at the coaching. It is a myriad of things.
Agreed, I'm not worked up over who they lost either, they are role players at best.
Maybe I am not all that worked up also because I realize it is going to be the same old thing. You all are right about that. I am just pointing out that this team is full of players who come u small in big spots. Have Heyward and Tuitt ever made a play in a big game, for example?
They haven't but a big part of this is this: Cleveland and Jacksonville were/are both run first run heavy teams with elite RB's correct? How are Cam or Tuitt supposed to make plays when it's them two vs 5 300+lb Olinemen? That's where Tomlin's stubborness, we do what we do has killed us. We line up 2-295lb DE's, then 2 240lbs OLB's vs 5 300lbs OLinemen, how are we supposed to get any push there, how are we not going to get blown off the LOS?
I could ask my 11 year old, who is going to win in a pushing contest 5 300lbs guys vs 2 300lb guys and 2 240lb guys.

Not sure anyone can really answer this until after the draft, but most of the players we lost had admirable replacements last year.
Sutton for Hilton, Dotson for Feiler, Spillane for Williams, Group of Buggs, Davis, Wormley for Aluau. We don't have replacements for Pouncey or
McDonald, but I felt these two didn't play that well in 2020.

well never tank on purpose we’d do like jets win 2 games with possibility of drafting best qb in decade lol... that said, teams are just getting better... we have like 3 best young qbs in football in our division very motivated teams to not only beat us... but beat the crap out of us like browns did in playoffs. crappy coaching in this era just ain’t going to cut it... we are going to get our ***** handed to us... with fierce pass rush gone the secondary falls apart... our corners are good but slowest in division. We couldnt stop run on a good day since butler took over defense and we cut the middle linebacker... so much for our “great” defense, butler has never had a plan for stopping the run or defending tightends, He won’t next year either. I say 6 games we basically have no running back, one return lineman, 2 if you include banner big whoop, 2 receivers that are average, that drop as many balls as they catch, granted a potential star at receiver but he ain’t there yet... but that ain’t much... and slow fat noddle arm 10million dollar qb that plays like hes 45 or something collecting paychecks at the expense of the team so ownership can pretend they did something to make us win. Not a true tank year just more humiliation before tomlin, front office are fired and art jr gets retired.
Damn, and I thought that I had a negative outlook on the season. lol

It’s becoming more and more painfully obvious that next year’s team will not be anywhere close to this year in personnel talent. I really believed that the ownership would have tried to find a way to put an equally competitive team on the field next year as this year for Ben’s farewell tour, but it’s now apparent that they see it as a tank year with possible hopes of maybe keeping Tomlin’s streak alive. If anyone sees it differently, would love to hear...
They tanked this team when they got cheap with Bell and let Brown walk.
Its been over for Ben and the Steelers for years.

Last season Tomlin had all his ducks in a row and set. He had his players aligned and ready. He started the season with a huge BANG but failed. He has had every excuse leading up to that season used up. I said many times the season would be a failure unless he made the AFCCG. Last season was a failure plain and simple. Other teams have injuries / players leave / lose to lower competition ect. BUT our guy seems to be more consistant at the failure.

Each season I think just maybe and I am always positive BUT similar returns ALWAYS happen................YES I am insane / crazy / nuts as I expect different results.
Like I've said for years, a first-round playoff loss is pretty much his ceiling regardless of what he has for talent.
Loses Hall Of Fame quarterback for the season, goes 8-8 with 2nd and sometimes 3rd string quarterbacks. Awesome job.
Has team firing on all cylinders, starts the season 11-0, finishes 12-4 for the third consecutive late-season collapse and gets blown out in the first round playoff game, as usual.
It's simply that that's as good as he is.

They aren’t going to “tank” and it’s ridiculous to expect it

The Steelers could be given the AFC Pro Bowl team and Tomlin would still fyck it up. It does not matter who they bring in or lose. The head coach is a clown..

Agree, they won't "tank" but they will play their best every week and Shades will coach his best every week and they will go 9-7 at most.

I wouldn't mind a tank year as long as we never have a "Hank the Tank" year.
