Who ya got?
The Eagles are the better team. They just are. They are better on both lines by a wide margin. Their offense is diverse. They can run or pass at a high level and even mix in some run pass option plays.
We have seen the pats offense held in check by good pass rushes. Atlanta was all over them and so was Jax. Until they got tired. The Eagles can get pressure with their front 4 also, but there is a huge difference.
The Eagles have depth.
The Eagles can rotate 7 guys on the DL to keep fresh pass rusher coming at Brady all game. This is a big key in the game. The Pats try to run lots of plays and part of that is waiting for the pass rush to slow down late in the game.
Fletcher Cox is a beast in the middle. The Pats have nobody who can block him. They will have to double him, but he can still push the pocket and stop Brady from stepping up.
The Pats always take away the best option. I believe they will try to take away the TE Zack Ertz. They don't have anybody who can cover him one on one so they will probably have to go with a combo of Chung and a LB.
I think the big matchup will be slot WR Nelson Agholor vs nickel CB Rowe. Agholor is a first round who looked like a bust but this year they put him in the slot and he came to life. He has size but is also very quick. Rowe has size but is stiff. I think Agholor could have a big game.
The Eagles should also be able to run it. They have a very good OL and multiple RBs. They traded for Ajai but they use other RBs like Blount and Corey Clement as well. They have receiving backs and power backs.
everyone is concerned about Foles but with this OL and the run game and all their play action and RPOs, Foles has some pretty easy reads and throws on many plays. Of course the QB is important, but Foles does not have to carry this offense. He just lit up the Vikes who have a far better defense than the Pats.
For the Pats, i think they will throw to their RBs a lot. That's one of the areas where the Eagles defense could be vulnerable.
One last major factor is that the Pats have lost that intimidation factor. A few years ago, teams seemed psyched out before the game even began. Look at how the Steelers went right at them. The game felt different didn't it?
The Steelers expected to beat the Pats.
The Titans went right at the Pats with no fear
The Jags expected to beat the Pats.
This Eagle team expects to win. They have great team chemistry. This whole thing with the dog masks has given them that us against the world mentality that the Pats usually carry with them.
The Pats OL has only been called for holding 2 times in the last 5 years in playoffs and Super Bowls. Let's hope the refs call a fair game.
