Steven Nelson on the trade block, wtf?

Yeah it sounds as if its nelson driving this....
it could be the new db coach not sitting well with him or he could legitimately be chasing a championship....
Not according to the article in the PG I read. It was the Steelers choice and they told him he could seek a trade or they will cut him. It might have been Dulac. With that out there, his tradability is next to nothing. One year for a guy who is about to be cut. Who's going to give us anything for him when they can just wait a couple weeks and get him for nothing. Makes no sense no matter how you look at it.

Reactions: GMC
I say....see ya...

Remember our defense gave up 40 something to the f**king Browns in the most important game in years..

Yeah...yeah... I know turnovers....whatever....they still sucked after basically shutting them down the week before.

God Speed Mr. Nelson.

Point taken, but with 31 other teams out there in FA, trading for him does secure the player, if some GM really wanted him badly enough to cough up a draft pick.

They need multiple corners. They certainly can't afford to use a high draft pick on one, especially with their track record on drafting CB's.

Meh, guess they see Sutton as a starter? Wasn't all that impressed with Nelson. We sure are hurting for depth now tho.

Wow! What’s this crap all about Steven Nelson! Coryea probably correct with refused pay cut or extension. He had a really good 2019 season but last year was not nearly as good. What can we get for him?

It hasn’t been made official in Twitterverse or via Nelson’s agent, but the most likely scenario is PIT, to help with their cap situation, offered an extension to Nelson, but it wasn’t to his liking because of the money he sees being thrown around now by teams with cap space. He’s under contract for 2 more seasons, so he either holds out, which won’t help him because of his age or request a trade. So the FO said, sure go look to see who your agent can deal for and we will decide if it’s in our best interest. Just like what they did with AB after he sabotaged the BUF deal. Sometimes I wonder about these players, if he wanted to get cut right then, he has to know he has no leverage right now. He’s going to get paid regardless because he got the highest FA contract PIT ever offered. Plus next year, PIT will have over $150 mil in cap space to spend.

So lets assume nelson is out, cam starts at his position, and layne is the top outside backup... the Steelers still should bring in a Corn Elder or TJ Carrie... a cheap vet slot corner.... either could likely be had for under 2 mil per

I would rather keep Sutton in the slot and bring in a vet corner.

We need a vet for him are titans shopping butler and swap throw in future pick n restructure

Gonna have to hope Haden doesn't lose a step and can stay healthy this year. Not sure what we will get in a trade for Nelson. R3-5? Really hard to say.

Cleveland 2-1st rounders....................................

I think they will need 2-3 CB’S

Yeah, looks like we're facing a new crisis in the secondary after a few seasons of relative stability. Thank God we have Minkah back there.... but Joe Haden isn't the player he was a year or two ago... and now losing two other starters... gonna get mighty tricky rebuilding this position group over the next month or two. Colbert will need to hedge whatever he does in the draft with multiple FA's and/or trades. Godspeed to him.

If he leaves they will need to bring in a corner.

This is the BIGGEST concern. What we would get for him is secondary (pun intended) and irrelevent in the big picture. YES we want all we can get for him but the big picture is can we get a guy equal in play value and cost.?

Those are extremely pricey... slot corners are cheap... you could gamble on a reclamation project CB, but even those are going to be like 3 to 4 times the cost of a slot corner...

Yeah, this would have been helpful PRIOR to Hilton leaving/signing with another team. 😥
Guys, I love Hilton as much as the next guy, but he wasn’t great in coverage even as a nickel. He was an awesome blitzer and rush CB and could handle receivers to 5-10 yards from the LOS.

James Pierre? Or is Pierre Desir available as a FA?
Pierre Desir is a free agent, seems he's washed up at 30, released by Jets after struggling mightily.

I think he meant James Pierre, seen a lot of chatter of late that the Steelers think highly of him.

Maybe he figured it out that with Tomlin calling the D last year against the Brown , he realizes how big of an idiot Tomlin is and that this team will never go back to the superbowl with him as HC! Get out now is the only option!!!
