Steelers vs Texans

WTF was Darrius Heyward Bey doing on the Hands team? When I saw him out there I was praying they didn't kick it to him.....OMG nice heart attack finish!

Same thing Ike Taylor does on the hands team when he's healthy lol

If Houston had a real quarterback, the Steelers would have been destroyed. As it stands, they took advantage of Houston's cluster ***** and got kind of a weird W. It still doesn't make me feel good about this team. Tomlin and Haley still had horrible clock management and universally stupid play calling. And the defense still looked raw, lost and powerless throughout a lot of the game.

Super Dave seems to kinda have it in for me a bit. He calls me out like that all the time even if the other person is being an idiot and instigating large groups of people. Not sure what his deal is.

Trig got the same warning...Oh, wait.

Getting an 18 point lead is way more important than running the clock.

Touchdowns and turnovers tonight?!?! Well, at least for 1 quarter anyways. Forgot what it was like its been so long.

Knowing this team I will keep the pom poms put away untill I see them handle the Colts next week.

Some freak plays turned the ball over to us in great position. Not the kind of thing one could bank on. The fact that touch downs were scored is very positive. The Haley gadget play worked, as well as some other unusual plays. The defense played ok last night. The trying to draw them off sides was real damn stupid when inches was all that was needed. The delay of game on MT HEAD not having the kicking team running down the sideline earlier was just stupid those guys need to be getting ready and moving to the ball down the sideline, If it is a first call them back.

I feel like we stole a win tonight. The Texans came out and shot themselves in the foot to give the game away. The steelers made some plays tonight. Not enough to have won the game with out the gifts from the Texans but they made some plays and that was positive for a change. Adams from what I saw was at least as useful as Gilbert. There were some good runs. There were some good plays on offense. The defense made some plays and got some pressure.

When Shazier comes back, I would not be against keeping Spence and Shazier inside and move Timmons to OLB. He gets good pressure when he's lined up outside. Probably won't happen but I'd like to see it.

The effort and energy was better today no question. The Steelers got several big turnovers and managed to keep penalties down. In terms of situational football it was a C performance. The play calling was still ludicrous at times. You have a workhorse back and a HOF QB and they re slinging gimmick plays. I don't think the could have been stupider in the final three minutes of the game passing it three times inside the 30 with like three minutes left. Who does that?

but that is the type of bold move that needs to be made but wont. Or maybe it's Spence or Shazier. Silverback is doing nothing as much as it kills me to say.

No, what was REALLY stupid was that the Steelers played for the offsides, the guy jumped, and Pouncey does not snap the ******* ball.

Does he think it's automatic?

He had ample opportunity in that role early in 2011 season when Harrison was out, and he looked like ****.

One play should not alter one's perception in that regard.

I'd give Shazier a shot at OLB before Timmons,

We need a pass rush..BAD! We're the definition of insanity right now. Just harmless waves crashing against the rocks! I will say 99 is worth every penny they paid him. He's setting the example.

To be fair, he's only played ROLB, and he wasn't as bad as people made him out to be, he just wasn't Debo in his prime, which is what people had been used to from that side of the field. I think he could play LOLB, the problem is even if they were to try that, we still don't have anyone for ROLB until Jones gets back. How's that for sad, our only hope on the right side is Jarvis Jones. Harrison is exactly what most here thought, an old washed up LB. Worilds is the most inconsistent LB we have, and everyone questioned that very point when they transition tagged him.

On the bright side, Spence is showing flashes of what the coaches saw in him when they drafted him. Which is HUGE considering the injury he had. Timmons is still our best LB, despite everyone's gripes with him. He misses too many tackles, but he makes some great plays too. Boom or bust, just like the rest of the team.

It's also nice to see Mitchell and Troy looking more comfortable together, Mitchell has really started to play much better for us recently.

I knew I'd have a good time reading this thread this morning... It was nice to see that the I hate Big Ben, Tomlin, Archer, Timmons, etc. etc. etc. regimes were out in full force last night...

Bring on the Neckbeard... Its an even week which mean we will lose, but I will hope we break the trend.

This! Situational football is a basic skill that seasoned players at this level should be using to the teams advantage, and Pouncey did have that awareness last night. However, I saw some great stuff again from LeVeon.

neckbeard will be without Reggie Wayne, and maybe Trent Richardson.

which, of course, means TY Hilton and/or Hakeem Nicks and/or Ahmad Bradshaw may run roughshod over us

After getting gauged in the base D opening 20 minutes we went mostly nickel with 2 D linemen and it worked good. That cut back run for Foster killed us and he had a few nice stretch runs but we were able to bottle that up. Our secondary is still our weak spot. Reminds me of the Chad Scott DeWayne Washington years, but they are improving and we should be close to getting Shazier back with Ike and then Jarvis not too long after. Offensively, looking at the stats, we are a 3 man team. Ben, Bell & Brown. We need to start getting more people involved. Bryant catch was a thing of beauty, as was the trick play TD pass to Moore. The defense created turnovers, lets hope thats a trend that continues.

I'm sure this was mentioned earlier in the thread, but Timmons' barfing was pretty hideous. Was he sick - well obviously, but was he sick going into the game or what? I don't think I've ever seen anyone throw up just before a play, then run around and cover a guy. lol

On the radio this morning they reported that Timmons said he simply drank too much water before the game. It did look like water and not the rainbow hues that puke normally has.

Ah, thanks. lol Yes, the dangers of hydration.

There's an article on ESPN claiming he got kicked in the stomach a few plays earlier

There was a play where he was slow getting up. I don't remember when it was in relation to the puking, though.

I think we have polar opposite recollections of Timmons OLB play in 2011. I remember eagerly awaiting him moving back inside, as he looked like Jarvis Jones attempting to get to the QB.

If he is to play OLB, it pretty much has to be on the weak side at ROLB, as he isn't physical at all. I know Worilds really isn't either, but he's a stubborn rock compared to Timmons.

I think your assessment of Timmons in general is pretty spot on. He has great length and athleticism and he always hustles and plays hard, but he lacks strength and his awareness wavers at times. I think he's a decent player, just not as consistent as I would like to see.

Regarding Worilds, I'm not sure if the Texans RT really sucks or what, but I'm not sure where that Jason Worilds has been all season. He was in the Texans backfield, disrupting plays all night.
