Steelers vs San Diego

5 seconds... you need a faster developing play than that... its a damn good thing Bell is a superstud. if he goes down and we lose the game with a timeout on the 1 inch line... there would be hell to pay....

you run that play BECAUSE Bell is a superstud

The Steelers drought with winning a game in the state of California is officially over! What was it, not since 2008? Great job Defense (& Bell)!

It was the female ref that got the TD call right. The only ref. If she's anything like my wife, she ain't going to let the other refs in that crew forget about it.

I would not have run that play and if it had failed everyone would be saying what an idiot Tomlin was, but I am happy as hell it worked. Great win in a must win situation. Gotta give credit to Vick for pulling it out in the end and to Haley for loosening the reigns a bit so he could.

P.S. I'm not going to be able to sleep for hours. What a rush.

I think they said screw the fg, and I agree. Ball inches away from the goal, go for it. They weren't winning in ot, the D was gassed, and they knew it.

Wow apparently Ben called the TD to Wheaton according to Vick. Put the play together on the sidelines.

Same here. My heart is still pounding and I'm wired. The alarm (Cketus) goes off in about 4 hours...ugh.

1. Agreed. D was toast. Had to go for the win.
2. Bell was getting the ball. Tomlin wasnt making the same mistake twice.
3. I could not disagree with the formation/call more.
4. Couldnt like the result more either.
5. The last 2 drives do not get Vick off the hook. He was awful and was lucky he didnt throw 2 pick sixes.
6. This adrenaline rush won let me sleep till about 1:30 or 2. Work is gonna suck tomorrow, but not as bad as if we would have lost.
7. Nice work new K. two more of those games I will learn your name.
8. Im really liking the effort of this new defense.
9. Makes up for last week. Last week we snatched defeat from the hands of victory, this week we stole one we had no business winning.
10. Goodnight Steeler Nation.

I picked up on it and mentioned it at the time. I asked how the hell the clock got down to 2:38 on a kickoff where the ball wasn't touched.

Insane.

I missed that, but I caught the home clock not running on Woodhead's screen at the end of the 2nd QTR.

Man, they really got home cookin. What about the integrity of the game, Roger?

I noticed that.. I went and looked on the play by play it says .14 seconds then .12 after the pass but I swear it was .12 and then after the pass it stayed at .12

"Unleashing Hell" doesnt work around here. I do however agree 100% with you.

For the record " Great play call" in my eyes is a play that puts your players in the best position to succeed and fits the strategy of the moment... "Horrid play Call" is predictable and ill suited for the moment. A great play call can fail, and a horrid play call can succeed. in this case the player, Bell, made a bad call work with an absurdly great play. One thing to always remember is sometimes your players make great plays in bad situations, sometimes theirs do too...

A team can run the ball for 50 yards on the last play of the game when they needed 60 to get into the end zone... that isn't a great playcall despite getting a lot of yardage... A team can call a pass that ends up freeing a guy wide open who drops the ball... that might be a great playcall, it was the player who didn't make the play... of course that same play on 1st down while trying to run out the clock with a lead with a minute left and them out of time outs would be a stupid play call even if he caught it...

in this case that play was bad. it was shut down totally... bell made something out of nothing...

Bell is a god. The defense is looking pretty damn good at times. I watched this whole game in the janitor's closet at work and it was so ******* worth it! Martavis back next week and Ben shortly after (hopefully).... I think this team will be tough to beat down the stretch!!!!!!

There is not a team that we have played this year, including the Pats, that I don't think a 100% healthy Steeler squad with the D settled in wouldn't have beaten. and that is with whatever the Pats are doing right now to cheat, cause no one gets that many playcalls perfect all the time...

Right??? The ******* Pats******* are "playing angry"? More like they've upped their cheating to new levels since Brwady has proven they are immune to discipline.

Yep the Pats can do whatever the **** they want and nobody will do a thing to them. It is what it is.Like steroids in baseball for homerun kings. Nobody is that good for that long with scrubs half the time.

I don't think Haley told Vick to suck on 3rd down for 3 QTRs...

Well, when Haley handcuffs Vick for the entire game, you can't blame it all on Vick. Yes, Vick had a few bad throws. But, running plays with 1 WR on 1st and 2nd down and then trying to throw on 3rd down seems a bit like telegraphing your plays to me. The D knew what we were going to do the entire game. They blitzed our run but we could still run. But, that's not enough to win. Then, they blitzed our passing. Can't blame that on Vick. Vick played well last night considering how little time he has been with the team and how handcuffed he was by Haley. I mean Vick running for the 1st time on the last drive of the game and throwing his first long pass on the drive before that? That is asinine as is putting 1 WR on the field at a time and saying, we're going to run on this play.

What an ugly ******* game and a beautiful ******* win. They didn't give us a hell of a lot to cheer for in person but we walked out victors. San Diego fans were salty as ****.
