Steelers vs. Cheeseheads preseason game thread

Murphy will make the practice squad. Heyward Bey is a starter on SP

we know Murphy has hands. I'd rather cut a WR who can't catch.

Hey supe check your twitter

So...I got to see the 2015 version of the Pittsburgh Steelers..

Offense will be top notch and better than last year, even with Pouncey on the mend.

The defense is a work in progress but was encouraged by the young talent assembled. Some of whom surprised me...Very encouraged by our obvious depth at Linebacker, even without Timmons on the field today. Happy to see Shamarko step up and make plays today...

I also think the Landry Jones is not as bad as advertised (especially here)..He definitely makes the team and in all honesty, if Gradkowski doesn't stay on the field, he just might get promoted to number 2... I would like to see him perform with the number one offense..I think he would do just fine.

Takeaways from the game:

1. Injuries to Pouncey, Tuitt and Gradkowski.
2. First-team defense shredded on the ground the nickel.
3. A display of a pass rush.
4. Dupree and Grant making some nice plays.
5. Jarvis with a sack.

Nothing about Harrison? Safety?

do people really not understand the difference between evaluating a proven guy like Harrison and a still unproven player? We know what Harrison can do. I don't care if he plays a snap in preseason. I don't care if Ben throws 8 INTs in preseason. I don't care if Antonio drops some balls.

Jarvis is still unproven. When i watch him in preseason, i am trying to evaluate if what i've just see translates to regular season. If he cleanly beat a legit starting LT for a sack, i would feel good. If he gets past a backup RT who stumbled, i'm not throwing a parade.

Seems like there's always an excuse for the other guy/team whenever Jarvis does something good. (as little as it happens). The guy got a sack using a setup and a punch. I'll take it this time and any time it happens when the games count. And I sure as heck won't complain if every one of his sacks come because the tackle "stumbled" (especially if that stumble was caused by the fact that he lunged as Jarvis went outside and couldn't recover when Jarvis went inside and punched).

I hope this is the year we think Jarvis is going to be good as opposed to a bust. I think we could have done better than him but he is ours. If he turns out to suck I hope he is gone.

Just face it there are certain players Timmons Jarvis Archer and Pouncey who will never get their due. Whether in Timmons and Pouncey case with never being called one the best at their position. Or with Jarvis and Archer never living up to their draft pick.. Jarvis clearly beat his man with a powerful inside move and now it's being called a stumble and the guy was a backup. Smh. Archer has a nice return yesterday and I read Archer caught from behind. He clearly was trying to make a move on someone in front of him and didn't see the guy behind him but forget his good return.
