Steelers vs 49ers prediction thread

If the D simplifies things like they said they would due to Fitzpatrick coming in, I think that will help everyone in the long run. But, I have my doubts they will do that this week and they definitely won't stick to it. So, we shall see.

I never pick against the Steelers. Call it superstition or whatever but I never do. This week, I do think Rudolph surprises and I think the D does start to gel.

Steelers - 27
49ers - 23

8.0 magnitude earthquakes happen with more frequency than Tomlin winning games on the west coast. These ain't your daddy's slightly better than mediocre 1984 Steelers who could deal an all time 49ers team its only loss of the season.

Moving toward the acceptance phase of the grief cycle:

49ers 30

Steelers 17

This team is going to show some promise and will gradually get better as Mason gains true game experience. But, it's not their week this Sunday.

9'ers - 38
Stillers - 16

I don’t know how anyone could predict anything with this team right now, but it’s fun, so I’ll partake.

I like the Steelers in spite of the litany of problems the team has and the fact the SF seems to be firing on all cylinders. It’s gonna be ugly, but fruitful.

Steelers 26
SF 24

I say let our new toy cover Kittle, but the coaches will probably put Bush on him. Anyways im concerned about our oline vs their defense. If we can hold them in check and follow the offensive gameplan from the second half last week we have a fighting chance. I'll go 21-17 Steelers

Down 23 - 21, Mason drives us at the end and Boswell seals the deal in the waning seconds 24-23.

I think the Steelers record on the west coast is like 19-38 including playoff games. The last win was in 2015 at San Diego. The last win before that was 10 yrs. earlier. I've been to 4 or 5 Steeler west coast games and they lost them all, including my very first Steeler game in '83 against the LA raiders in the divisional playoff game. 38-10 loss. At least I got to see Bradshaw stand on the sidelines.
Anyways, awful west coast record, sf 2-0,PS 0-2....going with the odds..

Steelers 20
49ers 27

But after all that......PS4L!! :spinlogo::logo:

Mikey Cool Shades never wins on the west coast.
Defense will be much improved with the addition of Fitzpatrick and holds the 49'ers to less than 40.
Offense rallies around Rudolph and plays ball-out with their best game of the season.
Shades loses another challenge.

Now that the stupid players on offense and defense are either on IR, or at the bottom of the depth chart ( Davis and Moncfief ), things should get better. If only the head coach will follow.... The loss to Seattle can be pinned on Moncrief playing volleyball, leading to the interception AND Sean Davis was called for an illegal block that negated a 34-yard touchdown return on Mark Barron’s fumble recovery. Yes--sometimes one or two boneheaded players can make the difference between a win or loss. We should be 1-1.

Not only are sub-par the mistake-prone players OUT/ Limited on snap counts, better players are taking their roles. Fitzpatrick is far superior to Davis, and Washington with Ruloph at quarterback has shown to much better Wide Receiver.

I think the team will rally around Rudolph who flashed good poise and leadership in addition to accuracy and moxie in his regular-season debut. Randy Fichtner if he's smart should incorporate more play-action, something Rudolph does a good job of selling. Use McDoanld and the backs a bit more in the passing game as San Fran will pay most of its attention to Ju-Ju and stop throwing to WR's that can't catch. I think Rudolph will play pretty well if the Steelers can run the ball well on 1st or 2nd down.

Defensively suddenly we have 3 solid starters among the DB's, all of whom were not drafted. Nelson showed me something last Sunday.

Prediction:

Steelers 25
49ers 20

We still scored a touchdown after Davis’s penalty. Kinda wipes that out, but I know it doesn’t fit your narrative. Funny though that you choose to leave out the McCullers penalty that was a four point swing in a game we lost by two. Whatever floats your boat, I guess?

Feels like the dam is about to break for ND an Georgia overwhelms them

sigh....

**** Butler and Tomlin if they can't turn this D around. Too many high picks to look this ******* lost. Saturday night off...havin' a few.

Rudolph means we don't know what to expect from the offense and Fitzpatrick does the same for defense.

I think the key to the game is the steelers OL which has been subpar in run blocking. The 49ers have some good pass rushers but they are not physical. You can run on them.

You also have to factor in Tomlin's abysmal record outside the eastern time zone. Tomlin does something wrong. I don't know if it's the travel schedule he sets or the practice schedule or what but It's too many games to just be a coincidence.

I have a feeling that the offense will do pretty well in this one. I expect then to run the ball and use play action. Vance could have a big game.

49ers have that shanahan offense with all the zone runs and play action. Their best OL Joe Staley is out. The steelers do have the athletes to defend the zone runs. If you can limit their run then Jimmy Grapenuts is less effective.

I just have a feeling that all the turmoil makes the team focused and they play a good game.

Davis is absolutely a stupid player. Add McCullers to the list.

Also Dupree was lucky he was not called for a personal foul on Wilson.

The boat is 0-2. Without the stupidity we would be 1-1. That is the point, and I’m sure you agree.
