Steelers trade for a Safety

I mean, it’s a player experience that fills a need I guess.

With the horrific coaching I don’t think any move they make ultimately is going to push the needle.

They have to can at least Austin yesterday and Tomlin by seasons end. But we know neither will take place.

An outdated defensive scheme and a horrific defensive play caller. Not a good combination.

Is he old enough to get on the Steelers geriatric train?

Welcome to the retirement home young buck!!!

Sit down, shut up, eat your jello and if ya pay really close attention maybe you’ll be able to hop in this slow moving train.

And sorry for your loss getting jettisoned from a team with the arrow pointing up to whatever the hell clown show is going on here.

He’s saving Austin for his end of season scape goating should the slow moving retirement train not get to Tomlinship town.

He’s even been laying the groundwork for scape goating AS if necessary as it was obviously the offense’s fault Love completed 20 in a row and ran away with the game in the 2nd half.

Nothing big here. Just throw him on the pile of safeties we already have and just signed (2 in one day).

They need someone to help stuff the run and they need a true WR2. It looks like Roman is nipping at Austin's heels. He's shown he deserves the snaps. He gets separation,

AI overview on our new safety

Kyle Dugger is considered a good safety due to his blend of size, speed, and tackling ability, which can make him effective in coverage and run support. However, recent performance has been mixed, with some analysts citing concerns about communication, mental errors, and tackling consistency, while others argue he has been asked to play a role that doesn't fit his strengths. While his value has fluctuated due to these concerns and injuries, he has also drawn praise from coaches and been ranked among the top safeties in the league at times, indicating his potential when utilized effectively.

“Concerns about communication, mental errors and tackling consistency”

Awww ****, he’ll fit right in
Now that’s a guy that can hop on the train, obviously

This is like bailing out a sail boat with a thimble.
but if your sailboat is sideways on a train track, that thimble is working to get the boat dry

Wilson should be the starter and CA3 sub-packages. Change is needed.

Salute the nation

The Steelers also got his inflated salary for the next two years
Great, he fits righr in to the much over-hyped and over-paid Tomlin mess or defense.
Why would the Patriots help the Steelers with a good player since they both could be fighting for a wildcard spot in the end. The guy wasn’t even a starter any longer.

"At least they did something."

My fav quote of a sinking ship. The Band-Aid on a bullet wound comes to mind, as well.

We’re simply shuffling deck chairs in the Titanic, putting band-aids on bullet wounds and things of that nature

Definitely need to see what they have in the young man

He’s getting a little traction so a smart coach would give him an expanded role

Luckily we have that coach
Strike that
The peyote must be kicking in

It's been inferred that Wilson is having some trouble picking up the offense. But Martavious Bryant and George Pickens did? I can't believe those two guys have more upstairs than Wilson.

Exactly, if the Patriots thought much of him they wouldn't be trading him to a team they could be fighting with for playoff position.

Vrabel change the Pats defense and Dugger no longer fits and he has a big contract. Pats are paying a big chunk of the contract. With Elliot out, Dugger is the box safety the Steelers desperately need. Huge upgrade over Chuck Clark, who the Steelers seemed to favor over Thornhill and Peppers.

Dugger is only 29 I believe so he should have a few good years left. If he looks good, they may sign him to a new deal.

patriots are bearing most of this year's salary, next two years were wiped out as part of the trade. No real harm in this trade really

So next two years wiped out! Does that mean he’s a FA after this season?
Considering the financial aspect not burdening the Steelers which is great news, I suppose he can’t really be any worse than Peppers or Thornhill.

Watched some highlights on Dugger this afternoon. He reminds me a lot of Terrell Edmunds. About the same size too but not as fast.

Doubt he will help much in pass coverage but he appears to be a willing and solid tackler.

Difference maker? Doubful.

If he can do half of what Elliott did on running plays we'll take it. Teams will still pass all over us, but at least it's something.
