https://Invalid Link - Check SN Hom...terview-hank-fraley-for-o-line-coach-vacancy/. Little bit of coaching experience mixed with playing experience. What say you Steelernation?

I took a glance statistically the Lions gave up a significant amount of sacks and like the Steelers were lousy in regards to the run. Not really impressed by that angle.

Detroit was 30th in rushing offense.

I think it boils down to if he can be a YES MAN to CMVLT. They have already shown not announcing the OC till the OL is hired. Canada has been here a year and hasn't been fired yet, that equates to yes man as well. This offense needs a complete change but BEN will inhibit that to a degree due to mobility but I think it stays basic ly the same with a little more attempt at running / deep passing but using motion to acheive.

The one thing that is guaranteed to improve is the opening drive TD equation, HELL if they can score just one they will have improved that stat. I'm NOT a Debbie and hope for the best but if they were serious about an upgrade then why not look to better teams and try to poach.

He's a Pittsburgh guy. He will be hired.

Detroit media and fan pages (I know,I know) loved the guy. Were genuinely upset that a new regime wouldn’t be keeping him. They attributed Fraley’s instruction to turning their Center into a pro bowler, helping their rookie T/G to quickly adjust and being able to get anything at all out of Taylor Decker.

Also, he’s supposedly a “first one there, last one to leave” kinda guy. Qualifies as a young coach too. Which if I remember, was what some of y’all were clamoring for.

Why even fire Sarrett? Hell, Sarrett atleast learned from one of the best. What a terrible candidate, he better not be hired.

So.....was Munchak a yes man?

GOOD news if this is the case. I jump to conclusions then come back and find out reality........... Typical foot in mouth fan.

I truely hope this is the case if we do hire him.

Munch is no longer here and I think he had enough or could foresee where this coaching was headed. Yes who wouldn't want to be closer to family but also give in to the fact he wanted out as well.

Lolley indicated in a chat room it’s only interview. Maybe as a favor for another GM. Like what Tepper did for Khan’s interview with Carolina. There could be several guys they are looking at. There are a lot of coaching staffs in flux at the time. Realistically, no one on this board is going to approve any OL hire unless Munch comes back.

But I still don't want him - there have to better options out there...

That's not entirely true, as I was elated that Sarrett was let go. Anyone with OL knowledge would be an upgrade. From what SteelBuckeye posted about Hank Fraley, I'm optimistic they found their man or still interviewing.

The upside is a lot of the comments seem to be about Fraley being a good teacher and getting the most out of his lineman. The downside is the Lions had a poor ground game and that's a big part of the OL coach's job. I don't follow the Lions enough to know, but he seems like a good up and coming coach if they want to move in that direction.

DET Rushing offense was rated worse than PIT in TDs and Attempts for what it’s worth. But, numbers and stats can be misleading. Munich’s OL were not always dominant at TEN.

I don't follow the Lions either. I doubt Fraley is their only interview, so let's see who they pick as the "best candidate". Until that guy is hired and pieces are put in place to ressurrect the OLine, it's a crapshoot right now. Hoping for the best.

Hoping for the best would be to give the new OL "HIRE" better linemen to work with. Giving Big Dot the nod will be an upgrade right there. Pouncy retiring will also (if OL in 1 or 2 or 3rd rnd ) will also be an upgrade.

I know patience is dear Ing but I want to know the two new hires of OL & OC. Canada isn't a lock yet I don't think.
