If the NFL was primarily concerned with fair competition then it would be obvious for all AFC to be one day and NFL the other so that each team would have the same off days each week. But competition takes a back seat, or more likely gets stuffed in the trunk, to make room for TV concerns.
for years, the NFL did use scheduling to give the pats an extra advantage. Was that on purpose or was it just for TV? In either case, the end result was that the Pats almost always faced an opponent that had 1 day less rest than they did (aside from the bye).
I believe the late start means the Browns will get back Denzel Ward.
