Steelers Strength of Schedule #1 for 2015

Slow starts and losing to bad teams is a tradition that dates back to Coach Chin. It's not exactly a new phenomenon.

We won a superbowl in 08 with the toughest regular season schedule. Might as well make it 2 for 2!

never can tell...a few torn ACL's down the line and it could be cupcake city.

SOS at this point means as much as a Power Rankings list.

No surprise to see the cheats with another easily schedule.

As long as they are in that division their schedule is going to suck *** because all 3 teams with them suck ***. Meanwhile, our division is pretty much friggin loaded.

That's what I love about this site. You can't make a total benign comment without being reminded about our team's shortcomings.

You keep comin back for more, dontcha Al?? You like that lil' splash of reality? :)

This division didn't win one single playoff game outside the division. The bungles and the Steelers were hammered in the first round. The rats then lost to NE. Also during the year the bungles played NE and got ******* destroyed. The last time the Steelers played NE they got ******* destroyed. So yea, maybe NE doesn't have a tough division schedule but they destroy everyone in the Steelers division (and others) almost every time they play them. They beat the Broncos, Bungles, Indy (twice), SD and the rats. Then they beat the Seachickens in the SB. Who else in the AFC was going to beat them this year?

Maybe someone who is just as good at cheating.

Did you read the article? There is proof in what it is saying:

Now you might be wondering: Does strength of schedule actually mean anything?

It probably does if you ask the Raiders. Going into the 2014 season, the Raiders were slated to have the toughest strength of schedule based on their opponents' combined 2013 record of 148-108, a winning percentage of .578.

After all 256 regular season games were played, it turned out that the Raiders did have the toughest strength of schedule (their opponents combined to go 146-110) and Oakland finished 3-13. Although this is the Raiders we're talking about, so it's possible they would have gone 3-13 with the easiest schedule.

The Jets weren't helped by their strength of schedule either. Going into the 2014 season, New York was supposed to have the ninth toughest schedule based on their opponents' 2013 records, but after all the the games were played, the Jets played the second toughest schedule in the NFL. The Jets went from 8-8 in 2013 to 4-12 in 2014.

On the other end of the spectrum, you have the Dallas Cowboys, who were supposed to have the 18th most difficult schedule going into 2014, based on their opponents' 2013 records. However, after all the games were played in 2014, Dallas ended up having the easiest strength of schedule in the NFL, playing against teams that combined to go 114-142 (.445).

Of the 12 teams that made the playoffs in 2014, only four of those teams had a strength of schedule over .500. That means the other eight playoff teams got into the postseason in due part to playing a weaker schedule.

After all was said and done, Dallas, Detroit, Houston and Pittsburgh played the four weakest schedules in 2014. Three of those teams made the playoffs and the one that didn't -- Houston -- finished with a winning record.

Strength of schedule can only be measured after the games have been played and even then it's not perfect as teams only play 13/32 of all teams.

All true but the AFC East still sucks. Bills have been terrible for 15 years. Dolphins made the post season just once (and lost in the WC round) in the last 13 years. Their only challenge, if you will, has been the Jets who are now on a 4 year playoff drought.

Winning the division was costly. We lost Bell and ended with a tough schedule. One thing is for sure, we'll see what this team is made off.

If thats what you think, then ok, sure

13/31...it's impossible to play yourself. Perhaps you got confused with playing "With yourself?" or the Steelers repeatedly "beating themselves" (trying to give you an easy out here)

Yes, and the Clowns have NEVER even been in a SB and haven't been to the playoffs in years. The bungles haven't won a playoff game in 20+ years. Only the rats have any viability in the division. So basically the issue is ONE team and the Jets 4 year slide. Also the Steelers benefited for years from a weak division. Hell almost every time the NFL expands the Steelers get the weak team in the division. I really thought they'd put Carolina in the division as well. Yes the AFC East sucks but the Steelers division has been hammered by NE almost every year. So again I'm not sure who people think are going to beat them? They beat every division leader almost every year.
