Perhaps these one year deals are in place so that after next season it will be easy to send Tomlin packing, and bring in a new coach who can replace many players the way he sees fit.

Most deals today appear to be one year deals, see all the free agents this year that were signed to latrger multi year deals last year or the year before and have been cut . Most deals are fron t loaded making them easier to get out of and thus one year deals.
