Steelers rumored to have interest in Patriots CB Logan Ryan

I disagree slightly here. If Tuitt/Heyward/ and Hargrave are all healthy, we don't have many problems reaching the QB. Problem is, they were all not healthy at the same time much last season.
Don't forget to add Dupree in there, he was hurt most of the year, but really played well when he came back

I disagree totally

they are not a dominant front that scares any top pass offense - they are certainly not the blue chip pass rushers that can take over a game on their own if we want to change to a 4-3 defense, they would not work at all

they are just average joes that won't win any games -good enough for us, but I don't count on our defense to win any games at all, just keep the weaker teams close

If Heyward, Hargrave and Tuitt are healthy this season, they will be the best part of our D. That will be a very good front. The problem is we go to these "sub-packages" and pull one of them out for an undersized LB and still rush 3 guys. That just doesn't work. And, when we do rush 2 DL and 2 LB's, that doesn't get consistent enough pressure. You need your 3 big guys up front to be able to take on double teams and free up the LB's. For some reason we have gotten away from that and think it works when it definitely doesn't.

I would love to see these guys on the field at the same time with Dupree as a rush end. Also, are we calling our "sub package" the base defense now or is it still a "sub package" (even though we are in it most of the time)?

We are down to Prince Revis as a slot CB/ S

Hargrave has shown signs of getting pressure but is not consistent. I like Tuitt but he is not the playmaker we want him to be. Heyward is good really good. But I wouldn't compare him to Aaron Smith at all.

Dupree showed promise but was near non existent during the afccg, but so was the rest of the D. I have high expectations for him going into next season. The Steelers need to hit an OLB in the draft. Deebo can provide pressure, but at his age use him wisely throughout the 16 week schedule. Shazier should bolster the ILB position, hope Williams/Matakevich become household names.

Secondary. Sign Revis for veteran experience and maybe teach the youngsters something. Revis can be the Charles Woodson of the Steelers
