"We'll just grab and hold Gronk to stop him"

Steelers' message to Rob Gronkowski, Patriots: We're jamming

The Steelers plan to defend Rob Gronkowski in Thursday night's NFL opener with "constant contact."

First-year DC Keith Butler's unit plans to apply press coverage to Gronk within the first five yards of the line of scrimmage. "He has success when people don't put their hands on him," claimed FS Mike Mitchell. "You just have to jam him up a little bit, mess with his timing,"

Breaking news: Mitchell injured after trying to jam gronk

I hate when they yap before a game. Shut up and show us what you can do DURING the game.

As you performance will speak for itself one way or another.

Like teams haven't already tried that a million times anyway

You'll miss the jam and let him run uncontested 50 yds wide open down the middle for a TD

Talking before the game hasn't proven one way or the other to motivate the other team above what they've already been.....either youre good enough or youre not. Everybody is so ******* concerned about us not being able to stop them. Well, our offense is pretty potent if not more potent than theirs, and do they have the answers for our offense ? 45-41....pick your winner.... it might be us

The Steelers don't have Bell or Bryant. They have Brady, Gronk and Ernie Adams.. I give them the edge.

I don't............we have Ben, Brown, Heath, Wheaton........are we no match ? I think we are a better match, the strongest they'll ever see all season and that's without Bell or Bryant.

I disagree. The offense was scoring around 22 PPG last year until Bryant was inserted. And that was with Bell, Brown, Heath and Wheaton. Bryant is the one who stretches the field and Miller is a year older. Ben isn't going against Brady. It's the Steelers horrible defense going against Brady. Bilicheat** is known for taking what you do best away. They are also playing at home. The Steelers have struggled for years with Brady. Why would this year be any different?

we added coats at 6"1 210 and who ran a smooth 4.4 he will be hard match up when they go dime, to try to find someone who who can stay stride for stride with him.

If DHB could have hand transplants, then with Brown, Wheaton, Coats and DHB, I don't see how in the world anything Cheat-Hoodie does negates our potency. If Ben has adequate time and buys time, we will kill them offensively. Defensively, we have to take our chances but we need to rough Brady up like hes never been roughed up before. Im not suggesting taking him out but knock him on his *** all game even if it earns us a couple 15-yarders in the process. **** letting him sit pretty, blitz him up the middle and make him bruise for his big plays

Theyre gonna miss Woolfolk and Revis big time, so I do think we can run on them with Williams. Spread the ball around, gas their pass rushers....they aren't fully prepared for a 60 minute game defensively stamina-wise (neither are we). So we can steal this one in Foxboro.

We will score, they won't stop our offense all night......problem is they score at will too.

We will see in about 3 days.

If DHB could have hand transplants

Imagine he wakes up and realizes that the hands are ike Taylor's

Agreed. I'm rooting hard for Coates

As for Gronk. If they plan on jamming him. That better be Timmons or Shaziers job. I'm not too keen on the safety's doing

I share the same logic. The *'s defense is in shambles just as our defense is, or so say so many. It's a FACT that they lost TWO Pro Bowl DB's and a third in the offseason. They lost the plug in the middle too, in Wilfork.

While DeAngelo is not Le'Veon - he can hit the hole and catch passes out of the backfield vs. "who do the *'s have running the ball on Thursday"??? Advantage - Steelers.

With Marty B out for four games - we lose our number two WR, but, Wheaton is no slouch and seems to catch everything and with the addition of DHB and Coates (do forget Dri will line up at WR as well) - our receiving corp holds the advantage over their make shift secondary. Advantage - Steelers.

My worry is special teams - as long as we don't give up the big play on KO's or a PR - the punting game and kicking game are probably a wash. Advantage - none.

We win. Take the 15 yard penalties and fines on defense; but, let M*rsh* know it's gonna be a long night on your back - get used to it...

Absolutely. Shazier would be my option, if I were the DC; but, I'm not...

I would love to forget. They could help me by keeping mighty mouse on the bench.

I think to win they have to be willing to lose big, if that makes sense.

Blitz and hit Brady all night. Jam everybody, even Ernie ******' Adams. Maybe you get burned, but maybe you get a few plays, too. when you are on O be aggressive as hell. If you lose 61-20 or something, they don't count it as two losses. It is still one loss.

I'm not saying we can't beat the Pats, their WR group is about the weakest we face all year (other than Gronk), but LeBeau played the 10 yd cushion for a reason - he knew our CB's couldn't play up and hope our safeties could cover deep last year. He knew.

Other than Brice, our secondary is the same as last year.

So I guess we will be seeing a bunch of 12 play drives for TD's that take up 8 plus minutes.

I don't expect much from this defense BUT a few added wrinkles COULD see a quick reversal of fortune. If we can send the HOUSE a few times and rattle Marcia, we could see some turnover/sack production to go along w the blown coverages (which would help)

Good luck with that.

I'm sure Butler will have some new efensive schemes but he only has Jack Schitt for talent on that side of the ball. Except for Heyward, Timmons, Deebo, and Gay, the efense sucks. Four guys who are decent-to-pretty good and seven jabronis.
