Steelers Release David DeCastro

There was definitely something up but this is just crazy.

So that's AV, Pouncey, Feiler and now DeCastro all gone. Wouldn't want to be this new OL coach.

Released him? Why not let him just retire as a Steeler. Hope they sign someone significant or our OL definitely will not be able to keep up.

Something more to it. I know the OL didn't have a very good season last year, but this throws things way out of balance now. If his ankle is that bad, he'd retire a Steeler IMO (like you said).

Little shocking. Now we know why there is the Turner interest. Over 8 million in cap saved?

There must be more to it. Did he ask to be released, would have been nice to see him retire as a Steeler. But he must feel he has something left? Sometimes I don’t blame the players for getting all they can $$$$$$ wise.

Going to miss these two:

Hate to speculate this soon because I'm usually off but if it was internal friction (which I doubt), I'm sure they could have gotten something for him. My initial impression is his ankle isn't and won't be ready for a while, he's not ready to retire and possibly feels he'll be ready late this year or 2022. Front office decided to gain cap space and move on and wasn't going to spend big bucks to resign him for his next contract in 2022.

Probably wasn’t sure he would make it before being put on the PUP list. After that you have to pay his salary and his replacement. It just may be DD may not want to play.

I don't see it being internal friction or he wouldn't have even shown up to mandatory OTA's last week. Or, he showed up, was healthy and still refused to participate. That could have pissed off management. But, still not enough to cut him. I think it has to be his health. They don't think he will be ready to play this season and he may not be ready to retire. So, they have to cut him to get the cap relief to sign someone else. Either way, it sucks.

Kaboly just said it was non-football injury related.

Can't imagine them releasing him unless a deal with Trai Turner was already in place.

Yea, just heard that. Scratching my head on this one, he's not the player of a couple years ago but "if healthy" better than anything we got or available.

Why not? He has brand new students...

But, back to the freaking elephant in the room - WHAT IN THE FACK IS HAPPENING??? This season is going to be the ULTIMATE HIGH if we get into the playoffs....

Where's my bottle o' rum???

If he sat out mini camp we knew he had not healed that’s when my Colbert probably said we need to be prepared if he’s going to start pup likely dd said he would be ready for camp but I think there was friction within the org that’s risking to much if he plays hurt and he’s the same g as last year. I think he needs surgery and a year of hard rehab

Gotten something for him. Lol. He played like **** last year. Simply still might not be 100 percent but yeah....someone would have dished out a draft pick for him. Just like we got one for that CB we released. What was his name again?
