Steelers-panthers game thread - last call

I said for the 2nd straight year Berry has been out kicked so yes that includes Wile who was the only punter on the team other than Berry last year.

A 42 yard net is also better than Berry has averaged in any season speaking of rainbows. Berry has never had 2 kicks that died inside the 5 like Berryman did last night and that was his supposed weakness because his leg is considerably stronger than Barry's average leg. Berryman won the job last night.

5 out of 9 inside the 20 is pretty damn good for Berryman.

Last night's game was good for him. Two punts of 50+ yards when needed and 2 inside the 10 from inside Carolina's territory (one at the 6 and one at the 3). Those last two are the ones that would stand out more than the two 50+ yarders, to our coaches, IMO.

Berry had two 50+ yarders, too. Berry's only punt from within Carolina's territory was from the 42 and put them at the 15 with a fair catch. Not as good as the 6 or 3, but doesn't suck, either.

Berry only had 3 out of 12 inside the 20 Each only had one touchback.

I already showed last year that the Wile comparison was weak, at best. No need to rehash that. Wile had the better distance, IIRC, but not enough opportunity to show he could pin the team inside the 20 better than Berry.

They could have gone either way and kept the one who had proved he could do the directional kicks when needed and, at the time, Wile had not shown that. He absolutely did not "solidly outkick" Berry last year.

At least you have some argument that Berryman had outkicked him. Wile, not so much.
