Steelers make NFL history with today's win

Don't have a dog in this fight, but some facts here:

Nickerson only played one season for Cowher, Hoge just two. And by Cowher's first super bowl appearance, Green, Foster and Anderson were also gone.

Besides Billicheat...
Who are you ******* guys?

I'm convinced you do this **** JUST to annoy me.

Good read, great that we have the honor of those three men. However Tomlin has no clue how to manage the clock durring the games. Perhaps he can call cowher and take a few pointers. Good read tho thanks

I love the vitriol being shot at Tomlin for game management this season. We're only leading the league in scoring under 2min for the half and game. Pretty darn good game management if you ask me.

People are just miserable. Any success by Tomlin is met with "But Cowher..." It's been almost ten years, let it go.

So you are saying both Noll and Cowher inherited teams that had a lot of success? I understand you love all things Tomlin but please chose your words more carefully and try to be a bit more intelligent. I was responding to your claim

Which is a total falsehood. He didn't inherited those players as pro-bowlers. So please be much more careful with your words. You need to make sure you know what the **** you are talking about.

You're right.
EVERY player Cowher inherited sucked, were going nowhere, and were picked for no reason whatsoever, and were basically waiver wire fodder.
Not a speck of talent or athleticism in their bodies.
Noll was checked out in those last seasons, and didn't care to coach or build up players, right?
Cowher is the only reason those players succeeded.
That includes Rod Woodson. He sucked, too before Cowher.
They all did.

Of course Cowher's last season.....he didn't check out or anything.....did he?

Look, I'm not taking sides.
I don't believe in this whole Coke/Pepsi thing between Cowher and Tomlin, or Noll and Cowher, or whatever.
I just LOATHE hearing the garbage that, "Coach X inherited nothing and turned it into gold."
Neither Cowher nor Tomlin inherited the 1999 Browns.

Sorry you can't have discourse without resorting to hysteria. EVERY player? I just pointed out that you were wrong. Not my fault you either didn't know or didn't take time to look it up. Noll was a great coach. IMHO he was better than Cowher. Sometimes the game leaves people by. Not a knock on Noll at all. Noll built the winning structure to the team. He took a terrible (worse than the clowns of today terrible) and built them into a dynasty. He won 4 SBs against some of the greatest teams of the time and had to beat other great teams to get there like Houston, Miami and Oakland.

The fact is that Tomlin inherited a SB winning team. Almost every single player on his SB team was from Cowher and most in their prime. Which is why he kept them longer than most coaches keep their own players. It's just the reality of the situation. Cowher and his staff built that team. Tomlin won another SB with it. I'll give him credit for that. But no more than I would give Barry Switzer for not screwing up the Dallas team. Aikman, Irvin, Smith and that defense had little to do with Switzer. He just stayed out of their way and let them win. Tomlin did the same thing. This is mostly Tomlin's team now. He was gifted a SB winning QB in his prime. Let's see if he can win with them.

That was the roster Cowher inherited. And here is the draft class his first year so you see who he added.

How can anyone with a straight face say he didn't inherit any talent?? No they hadn't won a super bowl yet or had playoff success but he did inherit some pretty good guys who helped him in his early success. Success that most back then said should of resulted in some Super bowl wins. Yes his draft classes helped but those draft classes without those player he inherited is not enough.

Don't forget that Tomlin also has no control over this completely undisciplined team (even though they are THE LEAST penalized team in the NFL).

Also 2nd in the NFL in fewest fumbles lost with just 5. Tomlin made it clear, if you fumble you're put on the bench.

Last year (I think it was), starting the season as heavily penalized was another indication of what a subpar coach Tomlin is. I think this year's least penalized team is due to Munch (sp?) or whatever reason that doesn't point to Tomlin being a dumbass who can't find his *** without Ben to show him.

Tomlin inherited some very good players but he also added some and improved others. He had Ben but when he got him Ben was a way from being a franchise QB and probably more coaches have ruined potential franchise QB's than have developed them. Lets just say we've had 3 outstanding young coaches picked by Dan Rooney and wait till Tomlin's career plays out till we rank them. But if you think you are smarter than Mr Rooney picking them have concern that you may be slightly delusional.

Nobody said he didn't have talent. That's just you building a strawman. He didn't get many pro-bowlers which is what I pointed out. They because pro-bowlers after he took over. Did you even read the draft you posted? Leon Searcy, Kirkland, Steed, and Perry. That's a hell of a draft. Cowher took a team that hadn't won anything and won with them. Tomlin took a team a calendar year removed from a SB win and won with them. Now it's his team with a franchise QB that he inherited. We will see what he can do with them.

More strawmen. So do you think you are smarter than Randy Lerner? Do you know more about football than him?

Tomlin inherited almost every single player that played in his one SB win. He hasn't won a SB (or even a playoff game) since most of his players are playing.

I think I am smarter than everybody except you. But you've convinced me you stand alone!

First 9 seasons:

Games won

Tomlin - 90, could be as high as 93
Cowher - 86

Super Bowl appearances
Tomlin: 2 (1 win)
Cowher: 1 (0 wins)

Losing Seasons
Tomlin: 0
Cowher: 2

Dear God! I'm a rational fellow... What am I going to do now? What am I GOING TO DO?

Comparing their first 9 year is laughable since Cowher built Tomlin's team for his first 5+ years. Rooney wouldn't even let Tomlin bring his own guys in and promoted BA from WR coach to OC and had DL running the defense.

Don't you ******* ever get tired of this tired *** argument? It's like being in middle school. Nobody is EVER going to see the other side of the argument, so what's the point exactly? Cowher is gone, Tomlin will be here another decade or so unless he decides to leave. Get a grip and move on with your lives already, damn.

For all the boneheaded **** he does, Captain Cools Shades is solidly in the top ten of NFL head coaches. In other words, it's a lot easier to name 22 who are worse than it is 22 who are better. Believe me, I've tried.
