Steelers free up 18 million from DK’s contract

No it sure he is worth that but I do think he is elite. Getting paid would give him cred and he would get called for less as well IMHO.
 
Porter is not elite! He hasn’t even smelled a pro bowl let alone all pro.
I’d rank him top 10 closer to nine or ten but not in the top three or five.
Now could he get there? Perhaps he could but you may have to pay him in excess of 30 million to find out.

I hear you and have questions about him being a top 10 guy-but he has some metrics that show him to be there now as other posters have well pointed out as we’ve discussed him this summer.

I think he gets 30 million a year. What’s IMO working for JPJ and against Khan is I think everyone knows we have overspent on Benton and Herbig for what they might be someday. JPJ is a CB1 now and if Khan overpays lesser players than him, JPJ has a strong case to have the same done to him

If JPJ is trying to be the highest paid CB in the league then no I don’t think that’s right

Let’s get JPJ signed!

Her real name is Elaine; she grew up in a small place called Shumacher with some old friends; tough childhood. Great to see her be so wonderful!!

Production vs pay
Joey is worth 45 if Herbig is worth 25.
Thats what caused all of this nonsense, You can't blame Joey for trying after seeing the contracts given to backup guys.
 
Portar and Gonzalez...same agent. Pressure tactics towards the front offices.

Herbig's contract has nothing to do with Porter's negotiations. If anything, Jalen Ramsey getting $24.1 from the Steelers is something Porter can look at. But all he and his agent are considering are these numbers:

McDuffie $31 million AAV
Ward $31.1 million AAV
Witherspoon million AAV
 
I'm torn on Porter. Has he really shown enough to deserve 30+ mil a year? I'm also bugged he's held out all summer. That's basically a guarantee he's going to have a hammy, like most get after holding out all summer, to keep him out the first half of the season, then play at 80% the other half.

Should’ve freed up that DK money by negating all his bonus money (per his contract language) after that moron went to the stands to get in an altercation last year.

Instead they invest more bonus money by kicking it down the road.

The salary cap is obviously just an illusion.

At least now they can overpay Grabby McHandsy so he can get on the field and tweak that hammy

Are we trading him for a Time Machine too so in her prime Sha-nay-nay is an option or are we trading him for used up, take her to pasture, modern day, trailer park Sha-nay-nay???

At least the cup is half full.
 
They are saying a good portion of the cap relief will be used on practice squad. Im thinking they might have to deal JPJ as Im not convinced they have a starting QB on the roster after Rodgers.

pretty sure the PS salaries have zero effect on the team cap

There’s a little variation from team to team depending on how many vets they are paying on PS but it is only about 4-5 million total for the year to pay the entire PS. Unless they changed the rules the PS does count against the cap.

But 4-5 million is about zero effect on a team’s salary cap in the grand scheme.

Factor in the 5-10 million most teams like to have for wiggle room in season and that 20/21 million space (per poster earlier in thread) the Steelers have looks like only about 5-10 million

I’d expect another restructure or two coming soon if JPJ is getting paid.
