ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports that the Steelers have informed Le’Veon Bell that he has been franchise tagged for the second consecutive year. Filed to @ESPN: Steelers inform Le'Veon Bell he's being tagged absent last-minute (and unlikely) deal, team has come up from last year's offer but $14.5 M per year is Bell's new floor. — […]

Sickening.

This little game has just about reached it's end. Enjoy retirement 26.

I hope it's the non-exclusive tag in case some dumb team wants to offer us 2 first rounders and/or they can tell Bell to go find a trade with someone. That franchise tag kills the team for this year. We can't sign any free agents and must hope w.e get instant stars from the draft at ILB and S. Franchising him is the absolute worst case scenario for this team this year. We better score 40+ a game as we already know 30+ won't get it done and 40 might not either in some instances.

“We’re not coming to a number we both agree on — they are too low, or I guess they feel I’m too high,” Bell told Fowler. “I’m playing for strictly my value to the team, that’s what I’m asking. I don’t think I should settle for anything less than what I’m valued at.”

Ok now you can give him the tag that he can be traded on, his act is getting old.

Nobody would even play the dude more than 9 million...he's being a dick.

How about just do what Miami just did with Landry. Let him go ahead and look for a trade. Maybe we get a first rounder for him.

At this point it would be the smart move.

What let this tool hold out again and come in and cause a distraction and start out of the gates slow again?

Then he gets to walk out the door next year? Nah **** that.

Tag this SOB and trade him, **** him.

Hey Mr Bell... your value to the team is not nearly as big as you think it is.

There are other RBs that can score TDS too.

In fact one of those RBs scores more then half of their TDS against your team and beat your team twice this season.

Check your ego dude.

Tag him and let his agent see if he can work out a trade. Use the $$$ saved to pick up a S, ILB or OLB in FA. Use the first round pick (and other picks) you get for Bell, along with our own draft picks to restock the defense and find the heir apparent to Bryant. Everybody is happy.

I will defer to those of you who understand how various contracts work.
Let this guy go now. Look for a trade and be disappointed at the offers he receives. At this point he's a self centered prick that will keep this team down.
If they can't address the defense because Mr. Bell holds all the cash, the team will be lucky to make the playoffs, let alone make the lowB repuS

run the wheels off and then part ways. A fair contract will not come about. If the Steelers offer him $12M and Bell wants $14.5 a season, one side will not budge further.

Tell him to compile a list of teams that will give him near what he wants. That can be the starting point for who you can trade with.

maybe they aren't too low, maybe you are too ******* High

Tell me honestly, IS there anyone here who didn't think this was coming or at least a version of this????? A lot of people here say he is the best RB in the NFL.......... I don't see it. Don't get me wrong as he is arguably top 5 but NOT twice as good as the next RB. Many have said he is a once in a lifetime talent yet in the next breath I hear the RB from up north is a generation talent???? ****, did I live twice???? LeVeon Bell thinks he is worth way more than the STEELERS think he is worth, guess what.....ALL EMPLOYEES feel they are worth more than than what they are actually worth Buisness wise. LET him go and find the trade and value of the market,.....guess what.....14.2 will look real good hence reality set into his head. MY thought where 33mil 3years guaranteed paid per game. INJURY is all ready worded through the the CBA but I'D ALSO HAVE WORDING ON missed games due to drugs / off field behavior / jail time. NO bonus no nothing but hey 3years GAURANTEED provided you play. I know that is a fantasy but it should be reality. NOW Mr. LeVeon Bell, go find that team that will pay you what you want and we should be happy to be rid of you because I think you will not show up until week 10 and fat and lazy.

Salute the nation

No surprise. I called the tag and it happened, because there was zero chance of making a long term deal with his insane demands. I want to know what type of tag it is, hoping it is a non-exclusive and offers start rolling in.

Also this article is written a little out of context. Bell never threatened to retire. He merely said it was an option when the idea was presented to him.

Thing is, some dumb assed team WILL pay him the bullshit number he wants. BUT, it will be a **** team that will go nowhere, and then dump him the following year.
Seems like it happens to damn near every player that leaves this team through FA.
I don't want the dude to leave, but this **** is getting old.

What an ***. He would've basically had 14 per last year over the first 3 seasons, 15, 15, 10(would've been highly unlikely they cut him after two seasons). Damn so if he's asking for his value to this team, I guess Ben will be asking for 35per?

This maybe a stupid question, but let's say we tag him like we are, which means we have to clear around 8 million in cap space by the 14th. We can still sign him long term at any point still correct? Is it possible for us to find a team that will give Bell what he wants, Bell, us, and that team agree on everything. Could we then sign him to that long term deal, then trade him to said team.

Once he signs the tag, the Steelers can trade him....I would think the other team would have to do the long term deal with him since it would likely include a large signing bonus that if the Steelers signed him they would have to eat

I would tag & allow him to seek trades. ANYTHING you get in trade is better than what they will get if they don’t, well except for a compensatory pick in 2020 of a 3rd. I would be willing to take a 2nd and a 3rd this year and maybe a conditional next year based on performance.

I would love to get more, but, 50% of something beats 100% of nothing.

Well speaking on how Bell's stepdad, Anthony views his worth. We should be able to get the clowns first pick this year and next.
