Steelers cuts are starting to roll in:

They will have a couple RBs on the PS... remember you can elevate 2 players from the PS every week and any PS player can be elevated 3 times before having to be signed to the 53 man roster.. so if they have 2 RBs on the PS, thats six weeks you can cover without an IR move or a roster move.. plus its RB.. they are a dime a dozen
 
I came for the weeping and gnashing of teeth about 4 QBs being kept. I am happily disappointed to not see much of it. Btw, the Steelers were not the only team to keep 4 QBs on the initial 53.

Atlanta Falcons: Tua Tagovailoa, Michael Penix Jr., Cooper Rush, Jack Strand

Minnesota Vikings: Kyler Murray, Carson Wentz, J.J. McCarthy, Max Brosmer

Philadelphia Eagles: Jalen Hurts, Andy Dalton, Tanner McKee, Cole Payton

The Falcons, keeping Strand, a UDFA from the 2026 draft class, Brosmer a UDFA from the 2025 draft class are head scratchers I guess to everyone not involved with their teams. Payton, a 5th round pick in this year's draft is (I guess) excusable because he was drafted in the 5th, rather than the 6th round (T.I.C.). The one thing that the other teams cited bout their 4th QBs was that they wanted to see if they could coach up (my wording) the potential they saw in them.

But I would seriously consider signing Levis and releasing Howard..

Levis has all the physical tools iand definitely a NFL caliber arm, to make the throws needed..

I believe big Mike can help him achieve the next level… and after watching Howard this preseason, I’m afraid he just is not that guy even as a backup…

My surprise is Andy Dalton is still in the league, impressive.

I’ve heard this in other post(s), but the last time the Steelers kept 4-QBs was when Kordell was on the roster.

Justin Watson has my attention. Would be a good depth piece at WR. He would be good for a few games in the event of an injury. He was always good in space and descent in the open field. He would be used the way Andy Reid used him. Good sit down in the zone receiver and still can separate. He's a descent' 6'2/210-220 receiver that Rodgers likes and would be a good WR4 if Roman looks like a tool bag out there. But they do need someone else that can stretch the field and Roman can do that as long as he doesn't do anything boneheaded.

I'm not sure they do keep 4 after today. I think it was a manuever so that they could place one of Howard or Allar on IR for a few weeks without having to keep them there for the whole season.
I just like poking a little fun at folks.
 
Big Poppa Pump's kid was cut by the 'Aints.

@Steeltime - Channing Tindall was cut, too. I know both of us wanted to see this dude on our roster.

Bucs cut OLB Chris Braswell. That was a bit surprising.

Tindall has elite physical tools but has played basically zero time on defense for Miami and Arizona. His snaps have been special teams only. Starter for Georgia's 2021 championship team, could rush the passer from his ILB spot but seems like something is just not clicking with him in the pros.
 
I'm actually pretty happy with how things played out during roster cuts. I think we got draft picks for players we had no intention of keeping, which is always a good thing. And I think we might be keeping 4 QB's just to trade one at the right moment for more assets.

Project 2027. Adding picks is going to be super important if we have to trade a lot of assets to move up a couple spots in the draft. Sometimes you just need 4th/5th rounders for depth to hold you over a few years so having those extras will help a lot.
 
I'm just sad that the incredibly meaningful preseason is over. I tell 'ya, I barely pay attention to the regular season any more. Preseason is over and I am basically out!

Oh, and I started a preseason fantasy league. My brilliant selections of Joe Fagnano in the 1st round and Reginald Virgil in the 2nd made the championship all but guaranteed!
 
Fagnano will be the Ravens next QB after Lamar leaves next year..

The kid is talented.
