I remember when I got out of the service. I was thinking how the hell will a cannon fire direction specialist in the Artillery field going to translate these skills over to the civilian world?

It didn’t.

Hopefully these young men either get second opportunities or find something stable. Not a great feeling to travel into the unknown. They will have to come up with a plan and I wish them well in the process.

Thanks SteelBuckeye, shows better than 1/2 participated to a point of degree or near.

I know there is some kind of rule where the athlete needs to maintain a minimum GPA. I also know that enforcement is a fallacy as for enforcement. Many ways to bend / participate in that rule as that gifted athlete is going to play no matter what and at the expense of the athlete’s future (injury & education).

Agreed. The transition, for us old farts, was pretty difficult back in the early 2000's.

I still work with as many servicemembers as I can to help because it's still pretty hairy (well not for the Air Force).

There are quite a few athletes that turn to help in NASCAR as pit members. I'm sure there are opportunities they just need a chance...
