Steelers bucs preseason game thread

holy crap. a lot of dirty laundry on the field tonight.

Complete BS calls by the refs. What kind of **** is this?

TB almost throws 60 times? Bruce wanting that "W" I guess. Damn.

some nice looks for the rookies tonight, some terrible calls at the end to keep the Bucs in it. But the good guys prevail with no injuries, so all is good in Steeler Nation.

Preseason game with a lot of guys that won't make the cut, but damn that 4th quarter defense looked familiar.

Bush, Washington, Boz played well, and Gentry has a pulse.

CMT streak intact with zero challenges won since 2016.

Jesus BA, are you that pissed that we moved on? **** dude, let it go. Great game overall by the Steelers, loved all the qb's, every damn one, Dobbs included is better than Landry ******* Jones, a good problem to have. And holy ****, Bush is looking fan ******* tastic so far.

Joe

Going to be tough to name a 2nd QB. Even Hodges looked good just raw. Bush looked great. I hope Tomlin switches Dobbs and Rudolphs reps next game

I thought the steelers looked good for a first preseason game.

Bush looks to be everything they'd hoped. But damn he does look small running next to TEs.

Washington looks like a different guy. Faster and confident.

Ulysses Gilbert has great instincts. Unless he's terrible at special teams, I think he'll make the team.

Spillane looked good but I don't see a way on the team for him. I think Gilbert will be ahead of him and I don't think they'd keep him over Matakevich, who looked great.

Gentry looks like a slower, less athletic Jesse James

Benny Snell is a good north south runner and had a realling nice blitz pickup but he does not look good on runs to the outside.

Justin Lane may take some time. He played for D'antonio at Mich State. D'antonio is a Saban clone. Saban's CBs often struggle early because they don't backpedal very often, if at all. It works in college and that's all Saban needs but it means they are very raw for the NFL. Kind of like a spread QB that needs to learn to take snaps from center.

A couple observations.
1. Didn't like the way it started but a lot of 1's for the Steelers were out and Winston played.
2. If Washington continues to flash it will be difficult for Moncrief to take the Z.
3. Ola has to get snaps. He was held twice in the first quarter. He is a way more dangerous pass rusher that Bud.
4. Dionne Spencer had a bad drop but bounced back nicely.
5. Boz was solid. I'm not happy he is back but would be happy to be wrong.
6. Tough decisions to make which is a good problem. QB will be tough. No one played bad. I thought Rudolph was the best.

Agree 100% I like what I've seen from Spillane. But they love Matakevich on ST so he got a tough road ahead to make the final roster.

That's because he is small. Still was the best defensive player on the field for either team tonight.

Washington looks like a different guy. Faster and confident.

Absolutely yes. He was the No. 1 receiver tonight and lived up to that role.

Ulysses Gilbert has great instincts. Unless he's terrible at special teams, I think he'll make the team.

If you're playing in the fourth quarter of a preseason game in which all of your backups started, you have an uphill battle to make the roster. Gilbert came up huge with several big plays. That is how to stand out.

Gentry looks like a slower, less athletic Jesse James

That is remarkable considering tight ends do not get much slower or unathletic than James.

1. Didn't like the way it started but a lot of 1's for the Steelers were out and Winston played.

The only starters they had out there on defense were Bush and Edmunds. It was basically their entire second string against Tampa's starters and that team has some serious talent at the skill positions.

3. Ola has to get snaps. He was held twice in the first quarter. He is a way more dangerous pass rusher that Bud.

A lot of people are more dangerous pass rushers than Bud.

I feel like with Cool Shades it really doesnt matter what shows up on film. He looks at the zeros on the paycheck. Only way Ola gets serious snaps is through injury.

Here is my takeaway from that game - Tomlin sucks
The one group that I thought struggled the most last night was the secondary, which is Shades specialty, and I probably woke up the entire neighborhood with a giant WTF on the challenge flag. Other than that, minus a few penalties on special teams, I was pretty satisfied
