The Pittsburgh Steelers, like the rest of the NFL have begun making their undrafted free agent moves. So far 6 signings have been announced, Shakur Brown cornerback out of Michigan State, Jamar Watson linebacker out of Kentucky, Lamont Wade safety out of Penn State, Calvin Bundage linebacker out of Oklahoma State, Isaiah McKoy wide receiver out of Kent State, and Mark Gilbert cornerback out of Duke.

We will continue to update you as more signings are announced.

Keep an eye on CB Mark Gilbert. His College career was set back by injuries in his final 2 seasons causing him to slide under the radar, but he's recovered and put up solid Pro day numbers. Originally he was projected as high as a day one pick. Solid athlete, if he can be coached up and developed to make up for the missed playing time he could be a steal.

Also has NFL bloodlines. Uncle played at Pitt and his cousin is D. Revis. Good risk UDFA, but his hip surgery cost him some speed and coverage ability.

I've heard good things about Shakur Brown, was expected to be drafted. Glad we'll be seeing him in camp.
he had a 3rd to 4th round grade in places... probably a slot guy... which we need, but he can play outside. I wanted him somewhere in the late 4th or later, but Wade was a much better option that we passed on....

Brown's highlight film

Alaric Jackson went udfa to rams a lt we should of brought I am hoping if we can poach derwin grey off jags OS come camp

So.......could someone tell me the $$$$$ situation with signing these UFA’s
I am assuming they count of course against the cap. They are signed so quickly after the draft. So is there something of a gentleman agreement that if you don’t get drafted you may sign with us? Of course talking about ones that the brass must have visited/showed interest in.

Are they all offered the same amount of $$$?
I assume other teams are offering as well so are we bidding against them? It all happens quickly.

What would be an example of terms as in amount, anything guaranteed, length. I mean if they get cut in training camp, what type of $$$ do they make.

Only the top 51 count until the season starts then the top 53 count.... we have 92 under contract or drafted right now... we have to cut two for roster reasons as draft picks sign, but no udfa should be a top 51 contract

Some of these guys will make this team were pretty thin this year Gilbert if nothing else could be on special teams

The STEELERS have historically done well in UDFA signings, Fast Willie amongst the success. I hope they have an "open" training camp at St. Vincent for four + reasons..

1) these young guys need as much exposure as possible

2) the economy of St. Vincent

3) FOOTBALL TEAM needs hitting / tackling / play calling / scrimages etc.....

4) so my friend slash can attend and send us his "live" version of what he is seeing

ALL GOOD

Isaiah McKoy. Wait until you see him. Built like a prototype WR. Then keep in mind that he drops 15-20% of catchable balls and that is why he went undrafted. The drops have not improved either so it is just something he does. You remember when Nate Washington would have you throwing stuff at your TV? That's the kind of drops we are talking about.

Honestly, I feel like he should have converted to safety 2 years ago. He does not shy away from contact, will go over the middle and take hits, has no fear.

20 percent drop rate. Seems like he would fit right in.😁

Will likely share a room w Diontae at St. Vincent's. 🥁

If that's the case he will be getting to bed late every night because Diontae has been doing the JUGGs machine every night as he combats his drop rate. (it was noticed his improvement as late season progressed)

I hope both our sarcasm(s) are correct

Oh man, me too. If Diontae can crack that code, fix whatever was causing the lapse in concentration, he could be among the most exciting, dynamic young receivers in the league. Such a natural talent & smooth athlete, love seeing him glide around w the ball in his hands. < emphasis on ball 'in his hands.' (y)

Looks like the Steelers have also picked up Donovan Stiner (Safety, Florida). I wouldn't expect a lot from Stiner as he wasn't a good contributor for the Gators in 2020. The issue with Stiner (and most of the defense, honestly) was with alignment and understanding where he's supposed to be playing. You'd think that a Senior coming into his third year in a system would have that down-pat...but apparently not.

The kid does have some talent and the size to play in the NFL, but to me this looks like a "hey, maybe he just had a bad year and we can coach him up" type of thing.

Brown is a good player. Polished short coverage skills, bulldog-type attitude. Great fit in the slot. Almost a guarantee to make the team, in my opinion.
